From the sounds of it, i don't think he's too broke up. Guy is a Narcissist. You could tell by the way he reached out to him so plainly, and how he casually laughed at his pain despite what the stepfather should have been going through at the time with his marriage falling apart that he wasn't too emotionally broke up over anything. Probably just annoyed he lost his puppets. Those types of people don't feel remorse for the pain they cause others, and tend not to dwell on it.
