Elder Holland visited Jamaica a few years ago, and while he was leaving, I told him how much his exegesis at the Harvard University changed my life. He got out of the car, shook my hand, asked me, "What is my name?", and said with the most genuine expression ever, "I love you". This experience changed in me how I looked at people, and if I could not truly tell them that I loved them genuinely, then I could not claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ. I indeed share in his comments at this presentation, and wish on him God's continual blessings.

Elder Holland, ALL things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23). Is it POSSIBLE that the Sealed Portion of the Book of Mormon is now available to the humble seeker of happiness? Is it possible that the Sealed Portion came to us outside the Church, such as Samuel the Lamanite gave his prophecies as an outsider? If we ask about this, with sincere heart, in FAITH, with real intent, will the truth of this be revealed to us by the Power of the Holy Ghost? (Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.) ("[Y]ou read a sacred text, and you put it back on the shelf [and] it's still making a demand of you. It is saying this is a truth to be lived. . . . ")

Thank you, Brother Danielson. You have a beautiful backdrop of the NB Temple on your circle... where I serve Tuesday night, and in the Office Saturday afternoon. I agree with everything but that leaves us with the a big question as to why would God allow certain people to be born with huge challenges such as same sex attraction and then expect them to change something they cannot change. It would be more interesting if the so called Prophets, Apostles, Priests and other spiritual leaders could come up with explanations for that or inquire of God as to why such individuals are born that way. It is easy to say what one should feel, do and believe without understanding their birth circumstances.

Chris Bondurant weakness and predisposition is one thing but being born with a natural attraction to the same sex is another thing. I Can't imagine myself going through life without being able to have a relationship with a woman, I love my wife and it brings me joy to be married, imagine if the opposite was required of us ( to marry people of the same sex) I would want to die!

+DMF MD This is no doubt a difficult situation in the world today pertaining to the central plan of creation and family. In the past 20 years we have seen a multitude of God's children, even an inconceivable number, who are challenged with same-sex attraction in some form or other. There are some things we know for sure: The family is ordained of God. Marriage between a man and a woman is essential to that Plan. Complete abstinence before marriage of any sexual relations, and complete fidelity after marriage are moral truths that God has set forth for us. We have to consider the big picture. We live in challenging and perilous times where iniquity abounds. People in the world can be troubled, fearful, even terrified. There is crime, promiscuity, infidelity, broken families, dissolved marriages, physical, emotional, verbal abuse. Evil is seen as good, and good evil. We are taught not only to tolerate, but to love, and to accept practically anything and everything without placing boundaries. To love and respect is right, but in today's world, there exits pure confusion. While I believe some people are born with tendencies toward same-sex attraction, I also think the breakdown of families, immoral practices and lifestyles that are seen as normal, and therefore just part of life, have corrupted young formative minds and emotions which have possibly caused a great confusion. Do we really know for sure who is born this way; or whose environment has pushed a child toward warped loyalties and aspirations because of tears, depression, molestation, false encouragement as to the normalcy of these inclinations? We have a Savior who knows ALL, who loves us, who is merciful, whose atoning sacrifice heals us beyond all these atrocities of our day. He understands and gets it for US. It cannot be easy to live faithfully to the commandments with this challenge; just as today it is not easy to have a heterosexual relationship with someone we care deeply about outside of marriage, and remain morally obligated to be sexually abstinent before marriage. It is practically unheard of. A person not married, divorced, or widowed also commits, if they are willing to follow the true doctrines as set forth in Christ's true church, to abstain from sexual relations outside the bonds of marriage. If we can live faithfully in this true doctrine, we will be blessed with divine happiness in this life and in the life to come. Nothing that is not of God will rise in the eternities. All things that are of God will remain. That is why gender is so important, pre-mortally, mortally, and eternally because the exalted state of eternal man/woman includes families being together forever with eternal increase. We must be willing to endure to the end, be obedient, no matter what challenge the Lord gives us. He has blessed us with the eternal principal of choice. I truly believe we are experiencing the calamities foretold by prophets because of the disintegration of the family. This IS my opinion, but this utter confusion seems to point to the real enticings of the adversary, whose purpose it is to thwart the plan of God for our Salvation and the promised inheritance through obedience to His commands, of exaltation living in the presence of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ for eternity. For some of us, we have not progressed to honestly know better, but if this is true, then after all we can do ourselves, it is by the Grace of our Savior that He will save us in some form of glory through HIs incomprehensible atonement. We have a living prophet on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson, who speaks for Christ. Jesus's true church has been restored in these latter days, and if we but accept His invitation to come unto Him; to follow Him, the power of the Holy Ghost will manifest the truth unto us and make these weaknesses strengths. He will return. Have faith and believe.

I agree with most of what you said but it is hard to believe that God speaks through the Mormon church leader, the LDS church itself has too many contradictions and complete lack of revelations, prophecies and visions. Just consider the fact that the leaders of the church decided to invest billions in a luxury mall right before the economic crash, just that in itself is evidence that the leaders are not doing the will of God. The last decades the leaders keep quoting each other while so many things happened in the world, if God speaks only through the LDS church leader then God must have eaten his tongue. Their talks are nice and to some degree inspiring but nothing different than what other religious leaders are preaching. I think God will yet send a true messenger to warn the people.

Well Brother, thanks for your comments. Please don't misunderstand that God only speaks through the LDS church leader. God reveals Himself to all who seek Him with a true and honest heart. One beautiful thing about the LDS church is that its members know that there is truth in all religions. We believe, of course, that in a time when many churches were springing up, a young boy did not know which church to join, & inspired by the scripture in James 1:6, that "if any of ye lack wisdom, ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, & upbraideth not & it shall be given." He went into a (sacred) grove, prayed, & there received a vision of God AND His Son & was told not to join any of them. The magnificent account opens the Book of Mormon. I can tell you this makes complete sense to me, in accordance with God's word that old men will dream dreams & young men will see visions. This one Joseph Smith IS the true messenger you talk of who has come to warn the people, & restore the true church (or fullness) of Jesus Christ to the earth. The Bible is filled with this prophecy. We could never discuss this marvelous work & wonder here, but we can know for a surety that it is true by the power of His Holy Spirit that sincerely manifests the truth of it unto us. Jesus is the head of this church. And today we have a living prophet who acts in His name. True, just as Jesus, He is the only one that can wholely speak for the children of the earth; however, every one of us are children of a loving Heavenly Father. He has sent His Spirit to us. If we but listen to His still, small voice, He reveals His will to us as individuals; however, I cannot speak for you & yours, just as you cannot speak for me & mine. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, & as we study all the scriptures, line upon line, the truths contained therein enter our hearts & in sincere humility, I can tell you with a sure knowledge the keys of the Kingdom of God have been restored to this earth in these latter days. There is only ONE truth, ONE faith, ONE baptism (Ephesians). Remember, Jesus is perfect. Man is not, but He tells us to be, so we strive for it by literally & simply following His every commandment, even with a broken heart & contrite spirit until we become like Him...submit ourselves to Him, as He submited His will to the Father's...the perfect Atonement...it's an eternal progression. I don't know about any mall...but I do trust the honesty & integrity by which our leaders handle the monies of the Kingdom. It's on the earth, brother. Jesus Christ is directing the affairs of His Church through a living prophet. Are we blessed or what? You have to read it with real intent to know for a surety if it's true. The Lord WILL manifest it through the POWER of His Spirit.
