Hi Arijit, I’m so pleased that I found your channel. You have a very good understanding of what challenges upcoming musicians face and I’ve subscribed you for this very reason! I have a question though, would I be able to monetise a video on KZread if I made a cover of any such bollywood song? I am fed up of reading about synch license, mechanical license, fair usage and what not! I also saw your distrokid video but it covers only the audio part, right? I would be extremely grateful if you could help me in this regard as the first ever song released by me got me a strike; it was a cover of ‘only hope from a walk to remember (I downloaded the instrumentals from KZread, they were exactly like the original but it wasn’t a copyrighted video). Greetings, you can surely monetize covers. Copying original track is not recommended though. But we mostly make a song entirely in our style and don't face any copyright strike problems. Sometimes a few songs 1 out 10 can get a copyright notice and then the original owner naturally gets 50% share of the revenue of the song we have made... and that is indeed not a big deal for sure.
