(A monument that was made under USSR times to coincide with the 60th Anniversary of the USSR and the 1,500th Anniversary of the Kyiv city)
Hopefully, we will see Kyiv and its people safe again soon.
Special thanks to Olena Kiba who promoted this event with us. It was a wonderful crowd until the rain came!

Is there any specific reason that the athletes here face the viking press/car deadlift but in later comps face away? Just curious.

This old video has so many ties to current events and topics in strongman. In Kiev, reference to Ukraine vs Russia, Loz winning the yoke, Colin talking about double dipping on viking press, Frampton in the mix...
I'm a big Derek Poundstone fan and was disappointed when he missed out on winning WSM, but Laurence is a class act also.
Love watching these old(er) shows for some reason

Well, this is fairly recent though... it's not like it is a competition from the 70s or 80s.
Looking forward to this! I remember it been an incredible show for Loz.

it was the show Loz became a top class strongman. H really shocked Poundstone.

@@GiantsLiveSTRONGMAN Yeah I just watched it and it brought back some great memories. Poundstone said it perfectly during this show "This was the day Loz became a top 10 athlete in the world"

Kiev is the Russian spelling, Kyiv is the Ukrainian. The people of Ukraine probably know how to spell their own cities.

yes - its a poignant reminder of what is going on in Ukraine, albeit a sad one in many ways - but its important to remember how Kyiv was (just a matter of a few weeks ago).
