Calling all Gundam fans! This is the world's first full-scale MOVING Gundam! Standing at over 18 meters tall, this full-scale moving replica of Mobile Suit Gundam Model RX-78F00 is the latest addition to the modern skyline of Yokohama city!
This incredible replica is part of the Gundam Factory Yokohama, a newly build facility that will open on December 19th, 2020.

These things could be easily fitted with anti aircraft matters, they had AA guns kitted to them in the shows along with saber beams and even more. These things fly in space no problem they probably far exceed aircraft flight speeds, and could house nuclear materials themselves. If these things were real and exclusive to Japan thier military would be insane. And if they were built like the animes there's one that can fly at speeds of 280,000km an hour so yeah tough chance on a plan taking it down.

Imagine put it to geosyncrhonous orbit above Tokyo so we can Saw it in telescope. Of course atleast fitted it with sensory instrument for earth and atmosfer so atleast it become useful and not only as decoration.

    I just have to take a seat and appreciate the scale of the situation. Japan, has an actual Gundam Factory, and an institute called GGG, Gundam Global Challenge. I know it is mostly for theme parks and stuff, but man that could change in a heart beat as soon as some genius discovers that making real Gundams or mobile suits is actually super easy if you do something "this way".

    @@captainsidewinder Well... First consider this : heavy tanks generally move at 50Km/h, and of course they're way smaller than a gundam. So if we saw a real military gundam anytime soon, it would be slow as hell, and could be destroyed easily. Also, what's the point in building a giant humanoid military weapon ? Why would we need it to be shaped as a human and make it walk, when we already have flying weapons ? Just my thoughts on the subject. ^^

    @@ArcherRtM A problem of perception. The reason some mechs needs to be constrained to a humanoid bipedal mech is for it to be augmented with human physiology. Otherwise there would be a massive disconnect in perception. The time a house helper robot will come is that is also going to be constrained to be humanoid.

    I couldn't take my eyes away from the moving heads on his shoulders. And the disco ball (or just a light) under his chest. And the line of moving heads on the truss below the top of the building which moved during the performance even in daytime. Happy to see it finally opened to the media.     I loved every bit of these. when i was a kid i wanted to make my own mech that could move run and doo everything that the shows could doo. soo seeing these brings me back to my child hood ware i drew and sketch the mechanics, the wire ring and the type of chip. it was my passion and my dream. sadly i dont think ill ever get to make my own.

    I don't know. It seems like something really really complex and expensive, thus hard to mass produce, while being a massive target to get blown up by air strikes easily. I think smaller drones are a more likely thing. Dog sized with a gun, hard to hit, mass produced, designed for lethality over durability. You can go even smaller if you restrict ammo capacity, leading to swarms that would easily overwhelm and terrify soft targets. Though something yet smaller, like a hornet or possibly a moth, designed to home in on targets kamikaze style with an explosion would also be feasible, if likely banned internationally

    Seen most of the gundam series..it always reminds me of Giant Robo and Jonny Sokko. I don't know if anybody has seen those. I have seen them on black and white tv and moved to cooler tv just about in-between. Great experience. Needed Jony sokkos watch however...I got to see all that despite being in India...blessed

    @@VoN0VoX1035 yeah it can, the new flagship Rocket of spaceX that currently still in testing phase will have capability of 100 ton payload to Low Earth Orbit. So it will be doable 4 to 6 year from now
