Would be nice to see a review on the HD5, budget models are important too.

The glove box does not keep rain out, so your stuff will get soaked unless it's in a plastic baggie. You'll need to purchase some kind of aftermarket nets to keep your stuff from sliding out of the bottom storage compartments.

You said that it has the smoothest engine and transmission combination of any utility side by side you've tested. I've heard that Honda's 3 and 6 speed automatic transmissions are really smooth -- how do those compare to the Can Am?

I down with it... I like duel purpose type stuff though.

Family just purchased an 18' Defender HD8 XT. Really impressed with the machine so far. Has more than enough power and can cruise down gravel roads at 50+ mph like nothing. Can't wait to break it in so I can really see what it can do.

Hello from Belgium, can you tell me if the hd10 his motor is more louder and less smoother than the hd8 ? the hd8 rides 60 km at 4800 rpm ; how much rides the hd10 at 4800 rpm ? thanks a lot for your answers !! Christophe

Thinking of buying a 2021 can-am defender HD8 Max 4 seater. Friend of mine has a 2018 and loves it. He drives it more than he drives his truck. What is the Max designation and how does it compare to the DPS? My friend test drove a 4 seat Ranger as well as the Defender before he bought it and also said the Defender was far nicer than the Ranger. His is also the HD8 with the 50 hp engine but says it has no trouble getting up to 60-65 mph with 4 adults on board.

HD5 or HD8 vs Viking 700. Viking seems to offer a lot for the money - locker, roof, eps, full steel skid plate, half doors for about $2k (Canadian) less than HD8 or about $2k more than base HD5. I suspect the Viking is louder than the HD8 in the cab, but maybe not much different than the HD5. I suspect Yamaha may have the edge in long term durability/reliability. But the Defender looks like it might have a heavier build. Very tough decision. Thoughts?

Would you think the non power steering model would be to difficult to steer for ladies and youth?

Do you think the HD8 is a better machine than the HD10? Is the HD8 quieter, smoother transmission, and better built than the HD10? Would you choose the 8 over the 10?

Just purchased a HD5 today. Hope to give my revied in a couple of days.
