    Nice job but here are some things I would have done different. 1) Use some grease or anti seize compound on your seatpost, stem, pedals,chain rings and bottom so they come apart easier and keep water out. 2) If the fork chrome cleaned up nice then I would have masked it off and not painted over it. 3) Use some grease or oil on all cables and in housings for lubrication and to keep water out. 4) Would have put Front Quick Release on left side. 5) Would have put Clear Coat over your paint job. 6) Would sprayed lots of WD-40 in the frame and fork tubes and bottom to try to prevent more rust forming. 7) Would turn your seat clamp around and raise your post it a bit as it seems too low. Thanks for taking the time to make the video and saving an older bicycle.......

    The bike you got is in much better condition than the vintage Francesco Moser which I bought (from a bike shop that wanted to throw it away) and restored. The Italian bottom bracket was the worst part of the bike to dismantle.

    Great rebuild, congratulations! Just a newbie question: old 27" rear wheel was a freewheel, and new 28" has a cassette, right? And you can use the same old derailleurs just fine? Asking because I've got an old Peugeot road bike, and 27" wheels on it are crap (also, it's not so easy to get new tires in this size any more), so I'm considering switching to 28", but I'd like to keep original derailleurs. Thanks in advance, and congrats once again!

    This is the second "restoration" video by Izra I have viewed. Again he did a good job returning a bike to a good rider condition but a restoration no to many things not done right or blatantly left off. Though as far as restoration is concerned my comment is negative it does not take away the mans skills at building good rider bikes. My definition of a restored bike includes all original emblems and parts, paint schemes and colors.

  • @Emot10ns

    @Emot10ns

    Ай бұрын

    I agree he should've done the original paint scheme and printed new stickers, but I hard disagree on reusing old parts especially if he's gonna be riding it. This isn't a repurposed toaster, so rider safety > old unsafe original parts. As long as he replaced the parts with new, same style parts it's fine tbh. I think it makes sense for bikes because bikes are customizable anyway and the parts on it could've not been the original "spec" anyway.
