    @@ohacade408 Wonwoo has a new song out together with Jeonghan (far left) titled This Man if you want to check out his deeper vocal and dashing visual. Also I kno you're more into darker type of song but if want to dive deeper into his vocal he also has a solo in this album but it's a ballad. Also from Seventeen I super duper recommend you "Getting Closer" and "Fear" !!! They are my personal favorite and from 'Darkteen' era.

    9:35 The blonde guy with the higher tone is Woozi. He is the main producer/composer of the group with Bumzu (seventeen's original vocal trainer from predebut). They both have a studio together called Universe Factory where they create all the group's songs, and individual studios: Woozi's Room and Prism Filter (Bumzu). The other members also participate in composition and writing. Especially Vernon who is the second member with the most credits after Woozi, he works a lot for the hip hop unit songs. I would say that after many years listening to their music it is very easy to recognize the sound of the songs that each of them makes. They both have very distinctive vibes. Thank you for the reaction. ❤

    "If he could be given more parts" what you need to understand is that Seventeen tends to be pretty fair with line distribution overall. Which, with a group with thirteen members, means that for most tracks every member ends up with about 10 seconds of singing time with maybe the main vocalists getting 15 for adlibs and harmonies and such. That's why they have unit songs on the albums, where they split into smaller groups of 4-5 people so they get more time to actually sing. That's just how it is, there's only so many lines per song that can be distributed between so many people. For the Killing Voice in particular I don't know if anyone ever analyzed it for line distribution, but I think it depended a lot on how to construct the medley to make it sound mostly coherent. Where do they take parts from the verses, which choruses do they take, which bridges. And then if certain members' 2 lines of singing just happened to be in other parts of the songs there's not much they could do I think.

    Every member of Seventeen is an all-rounder. You won't see people outside the Hip Hop unit rap, but they can. They all dance. They're known as the Theater Kids of KPop. DK (I think others pointed him out) was cast as Arthur in Camelot. He was by far the youngest in the cast, but was so popular he reprised the role two years later. DK and Seungkwan are two of the best vocalists in KPop and Seventeen is lucky enough to have both.

    Something to keep in mind when diving into SVT's discography as a composer is that: 1) woozi writes their songs reflecting the season they are going through as a group or as individuals. Woozi also writes all the b-sides they release alongside the title tracks, and they all have a story behind them. 2) all songs are dedicated to carats 3) woozi takes into consideration the performance aspect when composing their title tracks 4) SVT is famous for having the most perfect pie in terms of line distribution time and time again, articles have been written about it when line distribution was a big thing, and this was hard for a 13-member group but they were able to do it coz woozi knows his members' vocal strengths by heart...

    32:12 Yeah, that's Joshua, he is from L.A., California 🤗 ( born and raised). Is one of the two korean-american members in the group, since his parents are korean. The other one is Vernon, the boy with the amazing melodic rap. His mom is from Miami and his dad is Korean, he was born in New York but went to Korea when he was 5 or younger so he grew up as a korean person. After becoming an adult, he chose to take only the korean nationality (because dual nationalities are not accepted in the country). His English is not as good as his Korean but it is good enough (really good) to make many think it is his predominant language 😂 Both often act as translators for the members when they go to other countries.

  • @Abzify1

    @Abzify1

    Ай бұрын

    He is dual nationality, you can have dual nationaality if you have it trough birth so long as you do the militarry. The no dual citizenship is if you wish to live there and take the nationality test, you have to give up your original nationality to gain Korean. If you have dual through birth you can keep dual but for example Shua has kept American only as he's not doing millitary (and actually probably gave up korean nationality at 18 before he left America as you defer at 18 or say not doing it, and saying not doing it stops you from being dual)

  • @VaniACarat

    @VaniACarat

    Ай бұрын

    @@Abzify1 I'm not sure who you're referring to, but yes, Joshua has always had American nationality, even after he came of age, and is considered Korean-American because of his parents. Even after living in Korea for so many years, he has maintained his stance of being in the country as a foreign. That's why he can't join military. In Vernon's case, as far as I know, dual nationals in Korea must choose only one when they come of age. After becoming a legal adult, he chose the korean one so he could fulfill his civil duties such as voting in elections and registering for military service. Technically speaking, Joshua is American and Vernon is Korean.

  • @Abzify1

  • @rosequartz9687

    @rosequartz9687

    Ай бұрын

    @@Abzify1Sorry to intrude but Korea does not allow dual citizenship/nationality like other countries. Half koreans have to chose to give up or not their second citizenship when they reach a certain age, there are some exceptions that can be applied but Vernon actually chose (as we can see in his passport and election vote proof) to only retain the Korean nationality/citizenship because he considers himself a Korean citizen and has lived there his entire life. Culturally and genetically he is Korean-American but to South Korea he is an Korean citizen. Many half-Koreans have had this dilemma for a long time, so there is a lot of research material about that. This doesn't apply to Joshua because I think he never even thought about claiming his Korean nationality/citizenship in the first place. He is not going to do military service because to join you must gave up on your American nationality.

  • @Abzify1

    @Abzify1

    Ай бұрын

    @@rosequartz9687 so it may be me misunderstanding but from looking online it says that you can have dual citizenship so long as you pledge not to exercise foreign nationality. This means not using a foreign passport to enter/leave the country, paying taxes and for men doing military. However you have to pledge before 22. So it could be that Vernon didn't wish to pledge duel so didn't. Apologies I had read before that if you were born with duel citizenship you didn't have to lose your foreign citizenship so long as men did military.

    The red hair guy is minghao or better know as the8 and he used to be very under-confident about his skills when they debuted earlier cause he joined the group last and didnt have time to train as much as others. Also he is Chinese, and i often think its the language barrier too cause he didnt have enough time to learn korean well (he still has an accent as pointed out by native speakers even though he has been in korean for ten years now) cause he sounds really different and i think more polished when he sings in his native tongue, chinese. But i think this killing voice doesnt do justice to actually any of the members. The8 is a very excellent performer in real life… I am linking one of my fav works of his called “hai cheng” 🥹 if you want to check it out. he wrote it along with a fellow chinese lyrcist and produced it himself… its in chinese though. it has a korean version as well but i would say its better to listen to the chinese version (you can check out the korean too if you want i will just link both) cause firstly, it was originally written and produced for the chinese version. And its always better to listen to the original work. And secondly cause the name “hai cheng” is his hometown and has a lot of emotional meaning for him. there are several other works of his too..i am adding another one called side by side cause i think its more your vibe (funky and upbeat) Hai cheng chinese version: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dZOZtaqjZ7qbZKg.htmlsi=62eit_DBygN6HPDg Korean version: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h3ugpqxrf7GqitY.htmlsi=XAh-OO83N-1uqLKT side by side: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2mW08mvlt2eZKg.htmlsi=umPdoSIRlb5R4jEm

    I think when you're talking about certain members needing more parts it's important to remember that these are like 1-1:30 minutes of song snippets with 13 people performing and they want to feature the most well known parts of the songs. Thank you for this! Would really love for you to check some more of SVT stuff... Since SVT has been together for like 12, 13 years, including their trainee years... These guys really formed a kind of bond you'd wish you have with your friends too. It's sometimes unbelievable how close they are. They are chaotic and joke a lot, yes. They are well-known as variety (show) kings in idol world. But they also has formed this undertanding among them to never cross the line and they are affectionate & considerate with each other. They've grown up to be great artists and people and they expressed many times how they want to be together as a group and as friends/brothers as long as possible.

    I really enjoyed your reaction. Just by your choice of favorite songs, i know youre gonna enjoy their discography a lot. I also typically prefer the darker side of music but seventeen is different and their music is just so comforting that you have to enjoy it. It may be surprising since they have 13 members but their relationship is very strong and in case you get to know them you'll be able to see how genuine their friendship is. they all renewed their contracts even before their first contract ended. This is actually the only kpop group ive been up to date with after being a kpop fan some time ago. Because their bond and their love for what they do is very real and genuine. They basically do everything, they write, compose and choreograph their music. You could listen to some of their unit songs to see more of each member's part. Some members also have solo songs. And I'm sure people have already suggested this but if you want to watch a guide, you have to see their super long seventeen guide.

    I found your analysis so interesting because i dont know much about music talk but i just know what i like and i love Seventeen. But a lot of what you said is interesting because it reflects exactly that way in their choreography 😊 The rap unit has 4 members but they all can sing beautifully. The one in striped shirt that you liked is a rapper, named Wonwoo, but he just recently released a BALLAD. Title: Leftover.

    My co-carats already wrote what i wanted to write so i'm just gonna say that SEVENTEEN don't have a particular sound/genre that define them but once you get to know them you'll definitely can recognize if that song belongs to SVT or not. They experiment a lot with music and sound, and sometimes there's a different version of one song that they play usually in concerts or award shows. As you probably know now they divided themselves in 3 sub-unit and if you have the time to check out their latest sub-unit songs you'll see how diverse their discographies are. Also there's another sub-unit that they officially introduced to us apart from the 3 sub unit i mentioned, there's BSS and J&W. Both sub-unit presented totally different vibes and sound where BSS is the cheerful, uplifting kinda sound and J&W more like the mysterious, sultry kinda vibe. Also, all of them released official solo songs, covers and mixtape you can find in youtube or spotify easily, that way you can hear their voice individually. Thank you for taking the time to react to SEVENTEEN, i appreciate you. Hope this won't be your last time reacting to them ! Edit: there's another sub unit too it's Mingyu and Wonwoo. They released a song called Bittersweet and you can find it on youtube. They just doesn't promote in music show not like the other sub unit.

    I’ll try and make comments people have not already made. And I’ll do it based on the song. Pretty U - in my opinion, it’s best served along with the choreo. The choreo really adds to this one. A-Teen - an OST that only five members sang, I believe. So take that however you will. Snap Shoot - the B side to the much darker Fear. These two songs couldn’t be more different to be on the same album. Run to You - my absolute favorite song of this set. Don’t Wanna Cry - yes, Vernon has a good singing voice. All the rappers do. They even did a ballad as their unit song once, called I Can’t Run Away. Also, I think this song is one of the most highly played SVT videos on KZread, so it’s funny when you say that it doesn’t really have that “replayability” factor. One last thing. During Clap, you said something about the sound you expect to hear from them. I think the biggest thing to keep in mind with this group is that they do so many different styles that it’s hard to pinpoint one particular style for them . So just because you don’t particularly vibe with Darl+ing or Our Dawn is Hotter Than Day, it doesn’t mean those songs are any less their style than something like Clap or Mansae. They often do the unexpected.

    Kpop songs have so many switch ups in one song - I feel like just listening to a short clip of the song instead of the whole song isn't good when trying to judge a song.

    The stripped shirt guy is Wonwoo, he is normally quite quiet, until he isn't and for Killing Voice, he just lost his mom so probably isn't feeling too energetic to perform. Though you can listen to Fear by Seventeen, and maybe watch the MAMA Fear performance where he ate a flower. HipHop Team's LALALI is also pretty good. Last night by Jeonghan (dude on extreme left) and Wonwoo is also a must listen song. The dude on the extreme right is Dino, he is the youngest, you can listen to Spell by the Performance unit and Wait, that is his solo song, Do Re Mi is also a song by the three youngest in the group so there is also that. Also Vernon and Dino just setting up a versatile corner where they can do anything.

    I wonder how you would describe AVT's sound .. many kpop music insiders and producers have commented that svt has does so many genre but they all have the SVT sound because their main composers for all their tracks sice debut was member Woozi (born 1996) and labelmate Bumzu - both formed a studio called Universe Factory with just the bith of them as song writer and composer.

    32:18 His name is Joshua, he's from L.A. and moved to Korea when he became a trainee when he was 17 or 18 years old, he didn't really knew Korean back then 32:39 He's The8, I love his balads so I always recommend to watch his video for Falling down and his songs Hai cheng and Maze, but he has very nice parts in the performance unit songs as well 35:27 Darl+ing has some very unexpected changes but it is quite mellow 43:46 besides what many fans have already said about this being the first thing we saw him in after his loss, he's also a reserved guy, sometimes he just naturally stays a bit away from the chaos, and let me tell you seventeen can be very chaotic 45:28 pick any concert video of a hip hop unit song and you'll see the difference 51:04 oh don't apologize, it was a cute meow and in my book no cat can do wrong 51:38 it is their iconic encore song, they do this thing were they keep playing the chorus several times before closing the concert and you never know how many times they'll do it 53:17 they renewed their contract before the expiration date of the first one, not an easy feat for such a big group and with non korean members as well, and they've really put in the work to develop a good environment for all of them to get along and take care of each other, it's one of the things people admire about them, their group closeness. Overall this killing voice is a great sample of their songs, but it does leave out much of the diferent sounds they've tried out. Even when a song isn't very similar to the fresh upbeat sound they are so good at, their songs still carry their identity as seventeen and I appreciate it very much.
