As a retired LEO who has lost friends and attended more funerals, than I care to remember. This still cuts deep. RIP my brother.

We watched the procession near the filming along Co Rd 30 in Maple Grove. The procession lasted 40 minutes, with 10 to 20 police vehicles passing by per minute: or at least 400 vehicles. All MN police departments were represented to include some from WI, IA and SD. Quite humbling. Indeed, the Twin Cities lost a fine human being who really cared, and I'm sure not the only one, but one of many in our MN police departments. Don't forget that we've lost 11 first responders in 14 months here in MN.

I am overwhelmed by emotions as tears fall down my cheeks! I was born and raised in Minneapolis. This Police Department has rid itself of its toxic antics and the officers who are left are wonderful. This officer died trying to render aid to a man that would ultimately decide to ambush him! I pray for the Mitchell family and the officers that make our everyday better! The community here is thankful everyday for our police officers/department. You are needed and appreciated. This community is slowly recovering from the status quo of Minneapolis policing so this truly is heartbreaking and is an eye opening tragedy. CLOSE TO HEART AND HOME 💔

Took in a funeral & burial in that area a couple years ago. A 12/7/41 Pearl Harbor casualty.

I was blessed to have a dad and a bonus dad. My stepdad died in the line of duty and my father died on my birthday in 2020 he had a lot of health issues so when know just not when. My stepdad life was taken by the hands of another human. I miss they both so much but it is a different type of hurt. I never really knew how a heartbreak felt. His funeral was very emotional and overwhelming. So many people came from different states to help lay him to rest. I have a hole in my soul that can never be fixed. Both of their death have done something to me and I’m not the same person I use to be. I pray for this family.

Thank you for posting the coverage. I would have missed it with work. My nephew is serving locally in Law Enforcement. I'm sorry he didn't get a chance to have the lives that we enjoy under their protection.
