Born on April 6, 1937, and died on April 6, 2016. He definitely left his fingerprint in this world through his music.

Wonderful service. We loved Merle and I'm thankful that he knew Jesus as his Savior.

Merle and Waylon you just can't get any better.Go rest high on that mountain. For god knows you deserve it. God be with all of Merle and Waylon's families.

He was a great singer I love his music he will never be forgotten

This was the most tear jerking funeral I have ever watched. The whole service was so touching to my heart as I have listened to Merle’s music for many years & enjoyed it so much. I know Merle passed April 6th 2016 a day I will never forget, I thought he would live forever, his music will, I was so sad the tears ran down my cheeks. I’m 84 years old so you know I heard many of his songs. He was the best of the best, can’t believe it’s been seven years since he left us, but I still listen to him every single day, love ya Hag, see ya soon. RIP till we meet again. 😢❤

I know how you feel. I was actually stunned when I heard the news. I didn't even know he was sick. And what you said about him living forever, man I never ever had a thought that some day he'd be gone. Someone with his enormous talent and likeability doesn't come a long more than once in several lifetimes. He was such an important part of my life. So many good memories. I was fortunate to see him live once. What a performance that was. Miss ya man.

I'm a mama also and I loved. The mothers tribute he wrote. Mama Tried. It tells the story of my heart and all mamas who tried. I loved Merl Haggard.

Merle was born and died on his birthday what a gift .. it's my belief that the Creator my Lord and Savior opens your book and there is a day that you're born into life and a day that you leave this life and you move on to your next assignment what a wonderful spirit Merle Haggard was

got to see Merle many years ago when i was about 18 or 19 still to this day when i hear Sing Me Back Home still makes me cry

It is so nice to hear about Merle haggard . And it's true is beautiful voice cannot be forgotten . And I just love to hear his songs. Now the sons are taken over the father place ,I am proud to see them

'Sweet Jesus', it doesn't get more beautiful or simple than this. I'm so very thankful to know that Merle passed away knowing Jesus as his Savior! This song is a wonderful testimony. Just beautiful!!

I can remember my Grandfather listening to Merle Haggard in the car when we would go on long trips he would have his cassette tape in a tape that would hold about twelve cassettes some of them would be of him singing in churches with a lot of old songs in paperback books that later went in to some of the songbooks that we sing out of today in Churches together today I miss my Grandfather’s deep voice

I love Merle Haggard forever.. he was a true inspiration to us all ... God Bless him .

This was a beautiful memorial service for Merle. I watched this and tears were running down my face. I have always loved Merle and his recordings. I go back to those in the 1960's. To all his family: we have lost our greatest musician, singer and song writer. I pray his nice looking young boys will keep his spirit alive and continue performing his songs and music. We will never forget Merle Haggard.

Merle Haggard did my favorite version of “Just a Closer Walk w/ Thee.” He is the top of the heap in country music!!

Holiday Inn, Eau claire, wis. 1971. I was a huge fan of Merle Haggard at the time and had I think every record he put out up to that time. Merle was doing a show in town and staying at the Holiday Inn. I was closing the bar and ringing out the till, when I noticed a very familiar figure walking through the dining room. Excitedly, I approached him and said, 'Mr. Haggard'. With that he turned around and said he was looking for his room but had gotten turned around. I told him there was no one in the bar, and I would be proud to buy him a drink. "I could sure use one," he replied. With that we went into the dim lit bar, I poured him a triple shot of Crown Royal, and we had a great conversation for about a half hour. One of the highlights of my life!

I just now found this. What an awesome memorial service! Rest in peace, Merle. I'm 67. Some of the first songs that I learned on the guitar as a young teenager were songs that you were singing on the little AM radio that sat on our kitchen counter. And now, to hear the testimonies, to see and hear a reading from your well-worn Bible, at times with tears in my eyes, is all such a heartwarming blessing.

I lost my father Nov 8th 2007 my daddy always said that merle was the number one singer so when mentioned merle's name in the obituary and I am one of his fans rip we love you merle

I love his music 🎵 so much ❤️ he was so wonderful in singing his own life and how he feel about all of it ! 🙏🏻💖🙏🏻🌹💕🎵🕊️💜

loved country all my life but to listen to merle was the best to be blessed with his voice to share with the world is the greatest thing. he can leave us to cherish that such a man passed our way during the time we spent on earth to enrich our lives is a honour to remember him by l will request Merle's voice to be played when the time comes for me to leave my family knowing that they will carry out my wishes and think of me singing along to his songs on cloud nine

The service was done really well. Letting Merle sing was so very fitting. He was the music in his life, in his death and for years to come!

merle was a very big influence on my father Roger Tripp , who was lucky enough to be in attendance for this beautiful service(first one at the chuch lol), and through my dad i loved the hags music just as much , i remembered dad singing merle to us as kids and i did the same with all my kids , and the love for merles music that my dad had was so powerful , that my kids always say daddy its merle whenever i play my dad's music , the impact merle had on my dad is very obvious when you listen to his own music and the impact he had on people all over the world is undeniable , merle you meant the world to me and my family especially my dad and your music and legacy will live on forever, i had the pleasure of seeing you perform a few times (with my dad of course lol) and it blew me away , merle thank you and may you rest in peace.

his voice and that piano in the back ground....i can just see him in church singing that . Missing him but sure enjoying being able to watch the service of my favorite voice.

I just discovered this video and this service was so awesome---everything--the speakers, the songs, the message. I miss Merle Haggard every bit as much today as when I heard the news several years ago. But one day in heaven I'll get to greet him and thank him for all his wonderful music.

A great sermon.And no one loved and liked Merle as much as I did. I saw many of his concerts- 13 was the amount of concerts I saw him. I know his beloved family will miss him- And so will all his fans. Rest in peace Merle and I know one day we will all meet again.

When my husband and I got married, Valentine's day of 2020, we were married in a Baptist Church. Although it had never been done there, I walked down the aisle to "Nobody's darlin but mine" and walked out of the chapel to "Mama tried".... Merle Haggard was with us, even though he was no longer living. It was perfect!

This is a shock I stumbled on, Merle passed away,Oh my God, a man who has given me joy, comfort and peace through his songs. I thank you and if my life prolong a little more I would listen to your songs as if you are still here singing. Sing with the angels Merle and when we look up into the skies we would see you there.

I'm still crying over the passing of the greatest singer, songwriter in the WORLD, I can't listen to him without crying, I lost three loves of my life this year, in Feb. my husband, my brother, then April lost Merle, I'm so sad.

Such a great and inspiring service. A great tribute to a great man. Love you Merle.

First time I came across this. Enjoyed it very much. Merle's music will live on in Bakersfield thru my grandson who plays and loves Merle Haggard's music in Bakersfield. I was too young to remember Merle's music but many of my family remember him well. Love to talk to them about their memories of him.

Merle died three months before my husband two lives that can never be replaced. Rest In Peace dear ones

What a blessing. Oftentimes Merle, brought tears with his music as the Lord, used him to spread the Gospel. Just A Closer Walk With Thee, is one of those.

Rest in peace my friend, enjoy hearing and doing your songs ,they are truly inspirational and beautiful ....you will always be remembered and loved!!

I grew up loving Merle! He was my Dad's favorite! I was in charge of the record player, would play Merle's records and sat on the porch and sang these songs with my Dad! Those were special times! Dad gone now, but still loved his songs!

So grateful for the recordings of Merle's music and life... :'(

Just after thanksgiving. I feel I was blessed to have lived to see and hear Merle's inspiring music and life ! All my 70 years ! My prayers are I've learned to be a better Man and a blessing to others. !

A beautiful tribute to the greatest singer/songwriter in the history of country music. I am so thankful for all of you who have posted all of these great Merle Haggard songs, pictures, videos of this awesome man. I think of him everyday, listen to his music everyday, miss him everyday. He was one of a kind, he will never be replaced, the very essence of a true ICON.

He was a singer a writer. And one heck of a guitar picker. I wish I had one quarter of the talent Merle had. But so do million's of other's. I'm sure Merle Haggard is walking with God to night. If all the thousands of people that saw Merles memorial would do one think that Merle did to honor him, pray the sinners prayer and follow Jesus!! I did when I was 12. Now I am almost 80. Played Hags songs all my life, honor the Hag, follow JESUS !!
