This is actually nothing new. Timo Boll was always a threat to win championships when the top Chinese weren't participating. The only difference is he will be 43 this year. He's done pretty much everything in his career except for winning the world singles title and the Olympic gold medal.

Isn’t it funny that at 1:00:01. One of the best rallies of the match. Harimoto was completely quiet after winning the point. Strange when he is the most vocal player ever.

What an absolute legend. Regardless of age, winning a championship like this is an awesome achievement and should be heralded.

Timo Boll lately plays closer to the table and more aggressive. His backhand is more often more chinese, that is at the bounce. He has always had the technique but now he plays like he should have done at his peak, then would have been closer to become World champion in mens Single.

the order of tournaments (below) in terms of level goes as follows from lowest ranked players to highest rank players who participate in them: WTT Feeder WTT Contender WTT Star Contender WTT Champions WTT Finals this is a contender tournament which is why no chinese players are participating

Timo won against Lin Yun Ju, which can outplay Ma Long, Wang Chuqin and many others. So I think it wouldn't be 100% chinese final, but of course less % for Timo.

They had already played a star contender in Doha recently (and the WTT Finals), eg more important tournaments there. That said, Timo did beat a couple top-10 guys on his way to the title, not bad at all.

А каким основанием играет паренек в серой майке?

Есть здесь хорошие знатоки настольного тенниса? Объясните, пожалуйста, в пятом сете, когда Харимото выиграл два очка подряд (!) и счёт стал 9:7 в его пользу, зачем японский тренер взял таймаут? По моему мнению, этого таймаута как раз таки не хватило в шестом сете, когда Харимото откровенно "поплыл", или эта пауза пригодилась бы даже в седьмом. А победа была так близка.. Но тренер умудрился все испортить...

Тренер у него по моему так себе. Мне лично очевидно что Харимото ослабил игру очень из-за слабого инвентаря

You know I've been wondering the same for a couple of years... Thinking about the new equipment, strategies, techniques, abilities,etc. I started wondering because of Liu Guoliang and his very offensive style and penholder with short pimps. Wang Hao and Ma Lin what a couple of players they were!!! It is very difficult to say if Ma Long and Fan Zhendong aren't at that level they used to have... they've got a lot of power and stamina, but the strategy the older ones had...mmmm 🤔. But that kid, Wang Chuqin...is different, he is speed, spin, elasticity...

It's not like Harimoto is the best representative of this era. He looked super promising when he was 15, but he didn't improve at all since.

HARIMOTO is over, he has become too heavy, his speed has decreased, of course he will still be in the top, but he most likely will not be able to win either the World Championships or the Olympic Games
