Full House Tour | My Country Home

Here it is - the long awaited house tour! Earlier this year, I moved to this country home, and since then, a house tour has been one of the most requested videos!
This is an old house that needs a lot of love, but it has so much charm! In many ways, it really is my dream home! I probably won't live her forever though, but it's an amazing first step to my new life up in the northern forests of Sweden! I really hope you'll like this little tour, and that you walk away feeling like you know a bit more of how my life up here looks like. 🥰

    Hi Daniel! I apologize for the silly message in the comments. I had just started watching your very lovely video, and then had to run out the door, when I saw that I got a like from you...I was very puzzled as I had not written anything yet since I hadn't finished watching your video. So I am so sorry that for some very strange reason those random words and emojis just appeared! I truly have no idea how they got there! But, I really think you are a sweet young man, your family home is beautiful, and as a part Swedish American, right now, I am looking forward to coming over to Scandinavia to stay for a time... Sending hugs!❤

    Hello Daniel, it’s wonderful to see you again. A house is only a home, when you fill it with the people you love. Especially a handsome, blue eyed, blond Swedish man. That would be the best part for me. The snow ❄️ looks crisp & clean , and it calls out , to come and play. Your summers at the house, sound quite adventurous, and activity filled. Harry Potter would have been envious, of your secluded room, it’s enormous by comparison. I’m sending you lots of warm hugs 🤗 🤗 🤗, to help you keep warm. 🔥 ❤

    It’s so good to see within the walls of your family’s old country home. What a treasure filled with so many memories. Whether or not it becomes your ”forever home”, here’s a thought for you. With Jonna Jinton’s skill at painting, do you think she could reproduce a version of the wallpaper from your grandparents room? It can be printed into a new wallpaper, allowing you to keep a reminder of the feelings and memories of this home with you - wherever your “forever home” may be. Thanks for the tour! Keep warm and keep creating! Love your channel!

    Dang, That house may not have the modern amenities, but it def makes up for it with the view. Oh my gosh, the Sunsets, the Water, the Forests. If something like this were in my area here in the US. the property alone would be worth Millions. I'm not even joking. Houses put on properties like this where I live cost 2 million plus. Winter isn't forever, and what you get when Spring comes along, is priceless.

    @@DanielErikMaybe you’ve already thought of this - one way to help you to decide where to begin with projects that you’d like to take on there, is to first ensure that no major repairs are needed, meaning things that have to do with the well-being and safety of the home and its occupants. Is the roof OK? Do the windows leak? Are there loose areas of flooring? Do the doors all work well? Are heating and electric systems OK? Does the plumbing need an upgrade? Beyond things like that, the rest is simply cosmetic. Personally, I love the charm of older homes. That you and your family have been those responsible for the memories made in that one, is all the better. You mentioned that it was your grandparents’s place, before it belonged to your parents. Perhaps you have older siblings who will be there to take over the property when your parents no longer need it, or maybe that will be passed to you, eventually. Whatever that situation looks like for your family, decisions about repairs and the cosmetic issues - if there are any - are likely to be answered over time. If the roof, windows, and doors are not leaky, there’s really no rush. Besides, it is the time of year for nestling in and letting our roots grow deeper, is it not? As you began to show the barn, and said the word “loftet” I knew exactly what you meant. For the past 165 days or so, I’ve been learning Norwegian. I know they you are in Sverige. The languages have some similarities, it seemed, for when you said “loftet”, my brain went right away to “the loft”, which would be the English translation. Not a hard word, of course, but a neat thing that I noticed for myself, while watching and listening to your video. Really nicely done! Did whatever you cooked in the oven turn out well? I haven’t cooked anything with wood heat it many years. I’ve never baked with wood heat. Your tour was lovely. I liked how you told stories in each area, of some special memories. Then, when in your own room, you mentioned that the space isn’t how you’d have it, if it was yours. Perhaps your parents would be open to you doing some renovations in that area - to more suit your personal style - since you’re the one living there now. Also, whenever you change the looks, if you do, you might be helped by searching for ideas related to apartments or university dorm decor, as those usually need to be “put back” when you move out. I’m sure it will all be just as you need, it time. Thank you for another lovely video. I’m looking forward to the next. Cheers! 😊

    I love the shot 10 seconds before the end of the video.... the snow falling, and the dark contrast of the creek windings through the snow covered trees ❤ Thank you so much for the tour! I too am very light sensitive and would also put some sort of blackout curtain over. In the past, I've just bought a few meters of blackout fabric from a fabric store, or a dark colored folded sheet, or thick blanket... and used push pins to keep it up! (Actually, binder clips on the fabric, then easily hooked on to the push pin heads at night!) 😅 sleep is important! Don't be worried about pinning up odd looking window coverings for the night!

    What a charming house! I live in a 120 year old house, here in Minnesota, USA. My house was built by Swedish immigrants and originally there was no indoor bathroom. I often think how awful it would've been to have to trudge outside on a cold winters night to use the toilet! I am amazed at how much snow you have already. We typically get a lot of snow here, too, but nothing has stuck, yet. Thanks for the tour! There is a lot you could do with that house to make it "yours" without changing anything permanently. Your house is very pretty!! I was thinking that even just adding things to parts of it to make it your space to add decorations that but make it temporarily your with things that can be moved into your forever home in the future would at least make you feel like you had the space filled with items you love. That small little "Harry Potter" room would be such a great meditative space or just one for quiet reflection time. A bunch of large throw pillows would be great for in there that are large enough to sit on. That was the first thing that came to mind. I love all parts of your home, the barn and the land. It is gorgeous and to wake up to that view daily has to be lovely! Thank you for sharing and looking forward to your next video...

The memories are so strong, the smell from wood stove, the cracking of wooden steps as one walks to the attic, old books arranged on the shelves, so many of old books that were read by three generations…, looks and sounds of the forest just a short walk away… I am very happy for you as I see you are happy in this place filled with childhood memories!

    Hi, Daniel, from sunny Southern California! I live in the high (mountain) desert with my 2 horses; wolfdog, German Shepherd, and macaw (large parrot). We don’t get the cold winters you get there, but sometimes it does snow, since we are at a high mountain elevation. Hi Maine, and thanks for the hugs! I'm sending some right back to you! 🥰 And I totally get why you still dream about the house you grew up with! I think that's something a lot of us do. Unfortunately, it's very common that the whole family move away from them, and then it's only in memory. So I feel very lucky that's not the case here! I hope you're happy with your living situation, even though it can probably never truly be as the house you once grew up in. 💕

    This was a great tour. Was this your grandparents build the home as a primary residence? It seems like you had a magical childhood. I am sure that your siblings, grandmother, father’s siblings and cousins love to spend time there with their families and a great place for big family reunions. You could host a lot of people in your house. That looks like a lot of wood. The sauna looks great. Your house is so cute. I love the color and charming simplicity of everything. The family room and other rooms have a wonderful view of the lake. I would stay there as much as possible. Are you worried about all of snow on the roof?

  • @DanielErik

    @DanielErik

    6 ай бұрын

    Thank you, I'm glad you liked the tour! ☺️ My grandparents bought the house, so they're not the ones who built it. Before, it has been both a grocery store as well as a house people who worked with timber slept. At least that what I've heard through my grandparents! 😊 But there must have been like a farm as well, due to the big barn! I'm actually not that concerned about the snow on the roof, until this point it has fallen down by itself. But I am concerned about the amounts of snow in general! It's only the beginning of December, and we already have as much snow as it usually is in like, February! So how much snow will we have when February actually arrives?! 😳😅 Thank you so much for your comment! 🥰
