At first I didn't think Deion Sanders to Colorado was a good move for Sanders, until I started to realize it was what Sanders could do for Colorado... if Colorado is willing to make a change to improve their program (I think Sanders will force the change, whether they are really ready for it or not). Sanders is to Colorado and the Pac12 what Donald Trump was to the US - a shot in the arm, more like a badly needed enema, frankly. This could be a fast turn around. Stanford needs to look at hiring Sanders's nemesis from Texas days, the only guy to beat him head to head with equal or lesser talent in a year when both coaches won 6A State championships in Texas. I'm talking about Dan Novakov, who's still coaching in Dallas. He has at least one former player on Stanford's roster, and has Stanford quality former players all over the country in the portal now, including Ivy League and other programs. Check into the history of Dan Novakov for Stanford. Multiple back to back State Championships at a high academics school (known as the Stanford of Dallas High Schools). He's used to the chore of attracting Stanford quality academics ball players successfully. I'm talking pulling capable ball players in from Ivy League, U. of Chicago, SMU, etc. (including a Johnny Manzel quality QB who had interest in Stanford coming out of HS.) These guys all won multiple Texas State Championships together, played together 3 and 4 years, and can turn Stanford around the way Brian Kelly turned LSU around in 1 off-season. Somebody tell Stanford about Dan Novakov... Dan beat Sanders just a couple years ago in a game televised live on ESPN. I compare Dan to Josh Heupel. His Division 2 6A team overcame a halftime deficit to beat Sanders' higher Div 1 6A team. Sanders's QB at the time was his very same son now the QB at Colorado. Stanford has a coach, they just need to pick up the phone and call Dan Novakov in Dallas. (My son played for this coach for 3 years and 2 Texas state championships.) Dan is a Notre Dame grad, was a backup QB at Notre Dame and he has Dallas Cowboys ties.
