it is artfull , but its unsafe to ride in that helmet , it will crack easly , the foam inside is old and wont absorb inpacts like it should , even helmets with no damage should be replaced every 5 years due to the materials degrading over time , so i bet the dislks are from haters and people who know about safety equipment

also the damage shown looks verry uniform , like something a man can make with some sanding blocks and a gauge . Not at all like the damge you get in regular non crash use , and abosulety not like what you get in a crash .Ask me how i know .

B/c it's unsafe to take old helmets that are beat up and make them look new. This could get someone killed. Helmet are to be replaced every 5 years and after being in an accident. Cleaning one up makes it look otherwise is unethically. One crash with an helmet like this and who is at fault. It's hard to say so just to be safe. Don't buy one unless it new and then get it painted.

Anyone who wants to complain about the safety of the helmet please feel free to send new helmets to the artist. I'm sure he will research the proper paints for you. Since this is an old helmet I think a second life as a piece of art is better then land fill. I'll be thinking of you when I purchase my next helmet. Regards from the great white north. Great work man! For people making a comment on the safety aspect you guys are missing the point. What he did is truly original and very artistic. Maybe the owner could not afford to get that same exact helmet brand new but instead of throwing it or not wearing one he chose to have this done instead.

Buy a new helmet then then then give it a makeover don't you think because that one looks awesome and if it was me I would love to show it off whilst riding a motorcycle knowing that I look good and is going to keep my head safer if I was to come off and hit my head on the ground that is the whole point my friend it is a great video on how to make a copied design on your helmet just would have made more sense that the helmet was new because now that helmet is nothing more than a ornament or some type of headphones or maybe virtual reality for his restored PC

@@roughkiller9387 and going off the D O T helmets iv seen you may as well not bother. The things will not pass eny UK standard, but a few Harley riders wear them over here and dont get hassle. BUT if they get knocked off you can bet the insurance wont pay out..

The safety implication is becuase the helmet was already ruined to begin with. Also, the paint can effect the integrity of the foam. While I can respect the artwork, I would never recommended actually wearing this helmet..

The restoration was for the paint, should've written "FULL FACE HELMET RE-PAINTING". I think what he did had no impact on the safety features of the helmet, I mean it is just like washing the liner but repainting it before putting it back. now what safety issue are these people talking about? the material expiry? foam expiry? OP did not state how old the helmet was, so no grounds for material expiry of some sorts.

@asd says every DMV, certifying safety organization, racing organization, helmet maker, and race sport enthusiast. Head trauma is the #1 leading cause of death worldwide for motorcyclists. That inner foam is what absorbs and disperses impact from the impact zone to around the helmet minimizing damage. Basically if you mess paint a helmet: no harm done. But if you compromise the integrity of the foam on the inside, the helmet is expired. A helmet is good for one crash. Or one hard drop. And one crash only. That's it. It's your life, so make your own choices, but these are facts put in place to protect people.

That's weird because there are directions with most helmets on how to remove, replace and wash. You just have to ensure its put back properly. Look at most bluetooth setups also

I respect your abilities as an artist, but am concerned about you spreading the concept of "rehabing" an old helmet. Helmets should be good for one crash, one hard drop, or 5 years of no crashes. "refurbishing" something that is proven to be a life saving object when used correctly is foolish. Next time the customer should bring you a brand new helmet. I hope he only uses this as a display piece. That EPS foam looked awful and it looked like scratches on the helmet. What were those scratches from? Be careful when painting objects like this because you may be helping someone be less safe on the road, even though you had good intentions as an artist.
