Mattis N yeah I bought a newer Volvo v70 2009 and thought I had a reliable daily driver to work but this thing blew a head gasket the first week of owning it and I still have to drive it though☹️ but I’m thinking of daily driving my beetle to work and that is more reliable then the new cara

Oil based instead of "eco friendly" water based paint. That's why Mercedes cars from the nineties rust so much compared to eighties ones. Same with the Golf III vs the Mk II shown here.

1991 Golf GTI. 16v. 2.0L 135hhp. I HAD FEW OF THEM, AND STILL MISS THEM, EVEN TODAY.! GOOD JOB MAN 👏👏👏

This was an excellent tutorial. I’ve subscribed and my thought is that I liked the speed of the video and the narration of the process. One last thing is I like vw’s so that made for an excellent time to watch

Very nice, truly inspiring. I bought a 1992 VW Vento a few months ago; still need to do this kind of work on it, but so far... The best car I ever had. A friend, professional car tuner, looked at it and said: "they don't make them like this anymore. " I needed a low electronics car for health reasons. The best part: they hardly rust in Portugal, so a 30 year old car just needs a bit of regular maintenance to look almost new.

It’s not just the golf mark 2, it has 4 headlamps and is 5dr tornado red. This was the car we had when I was growing up and this is the car which made me a very enthusiastic of vdubs . Thanks so much for sharing.

That’s an amazing transformation. I’ve my old MG ZR sitting unloved in the yard for a few years that needs to be shown some TLC again. This video has certainly given me the motivation to give it a good clean up again.

One word man........WOW! You did an incredible transformation in that multi-stage decon, wash, and restoration of the paint and trim. You put a lot of work and expertise into this detail. Most people would have taken this car straight to the junk yard and crushed it. A+ job buddy! AAAAAA+

@@matthiasweigel311 good shape means the car is in tact..has straight lines and body panels, no huge dents, holes, pits, major rust, peeling or destroyed paint. Interior is in great condition as well. All this car needed was a bit of exterior detail TLC . It was definitely in exceptional condition based on its age before the detail

Thank you. 😊 I didn't count the hours, but honestly it took way longer than I first anticipated. Mainly because the paint was very finicky, different panels reacted differently to the same pad/compound combo. Which leads me to think that some panels has been resprayed at some point. I had to clean out the pad more frequently than with a clear coated car etc. Also some portions of the video may seem like they only took a couple of minutes, when in reality it took a lot longer. This plus the fact that filming the process adds to the time scale, I would say maybe 35-40 hours in total regarding the detail process.
