That 174hp from a 305ci TBI to the tires with that many miles is pretty healthy. Nice testament how well and durable the GMT400 platform is when trucks used to be made and assembled in the USA. Only thing that kills these trucks is neglect and rust.

I loved their conversation about these trucks in the 90's. I was in High School from '96-'00 and in '98 my older brother bought an '89 OBS single cab short bed. It was a 5 speed manual with the 4.3 V6 and I have so many fond memories of that truck; even though it wasn't mine (I learned to drive stick in it). Since it was 2WD it already had a bad ass raked stance from the factory, and my Bro Put FAT tires and wheels on it, that truck handled like it was on rails, then he put a massive subwoofer system in it, it was an incredible truck to drive around in the late 90's. He used to let me take it to School to do basic maintenance in the auto shop and everyone loved that truck. I used to drive my friends and girls around in the back of it. He ended up selling it circa 2000, it was a sad day. I wish he still had that truck today.

Usually those conversion companies were really proud of their work so they put badges everywhere. If not maybe in the glove box should be a build sticker. The dealership I worked at ran quite a few conversions through the lot both new and used. They were pretty sweet back then. They even had models with basically van seats in them and they were Hella comfy!
I loved how they ultra zoomed into all the welding scenes. Getting blinded each and every time was awesome and I enjoyed it 🙌

the driver side front end collision area is an Aluminum can. my best friends father fell asleep at the wheel and went left of center and just so happen to collide into my brother and his girlfriend. such a small world but long story short, It was an 96' 1500 vs an 03 ford escape. same point of impact, both going 60 mph. my brother and girlfriend where able to walk out of their car. my buddies dad had to get the jaws of life and the wheel well from his chevy out of his leg. There is a reason why these truck are not asking alot of money quite yet. yes they are reliable, bullet proof, easy to work on, and have alot of aftermarket but be careful of getting into a head on collision. Especially since these guys are showing people how they made power on this platform, id wish they would show them how to do it safely as well.
I’m 18 now, and I’ve been watching powernations videos since I was about 12. The reason I got into cars. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a new edge build and I think it would be awesome to see an 04’ Mach 1 build. It has the 4.6 4v so it would be easy to throw power on
You know if you'da painted that frame area that would really make the truck look nice
Never seen people disassemble a vehicle and have such clean hands the whole time
I own a '95 short box reg cab. It started life as a z71 with AN ORIGINAL 5 SPEED!! At 344,000 miles, she pushed the passenger side head gasket. Started knocking on the door right when i pulled in our driveway. Today, it has a 2010 2wd front suspension conversion with camburg engineering stage 5 long travel suspension, 3.0 triple bypass shocks, 3.0 coilovers, blitzkrieg hubs and swing set steering, 9 inch out back with a spool and 4.086⁶s triangulated 4 link with 3.5 triple bypass coilovers only. Then, the best part of the truck is the port injected 400 small block i pulled out of a outlaw dirt track car. 800 horsepower with the carburetor. After the injection, e85, on a Holley terminator x she made 690 WHEEL hp and thats through a built turbo 400 and 40 inch tires. I also have Rusty Wallace's boom tube from his ride in 1997. My grandfather was Don Garlitz's engine builder, Wallace is one of my grandfathers best friends Anyway, equal length long tubes going to an 8 into 1 collector i made myself then straight to the boom tube, the noise it makes is nothing short of EVIL! Its no joke in the desert. Its so ungodly fast. The truck only weighs 4100 pounds. Not to brag but the mismatched 25 year old king triple bypass and 8 year old QA1 coilovers honestly work better than most of my buddies brand new stuff. Anyone who owns a pre runner rides in my truck and immediately says their truck aint shit. Im talking brand new Tacoma with long travel, bed is totally cut out with a tonneau cover then i have 2 yakima storage units mounted back there my spare tire is mounted to a subframe system i built (just like every single other aspect of the truck) under the tonneu cover so when i open it, i pull 4 pins and the actuators slowly let my spare down to a reachable spot, spin the wing nut off, throw the wallerd out unit back on there. The tonneu cover did require substantial modifications to support the weight so there are some grade 8 hex heads kinda messing up the cleanliness. But now i can load 2 450s right on top of the tonneu cover in place of the yakima missles. I have a/c, an actual screen from a Tesla model 3 in the dash, 6 speakers with 1, 8 inch subwoofer. The boom tube exits out of the bedside right in front of the passenger rear wheel right where the OEM molding was. The fenders and bedsides are excessively cut for clearance and i have 5 inch bushmaster flares. The intake is inside the cab and i reserved an a/c duct which i ran directly into the airbox i made. I dont know why nobody does that because its absolutely amazing how fast it cools the thing down. I have a satin black wrap with gold method beadlocks. The bedsides are cut at a 45° angle from the wheel arch to 4 inches below the taillights and i bult my own rear bumper from 2×4 4130 square tubing. The front end is cut all the way up to the secondary lights then i made my own bumper/winch mount/skid plate that spluts into 5 different pieces so i can replace whatever i destroy not the entire thing. I also made my own pop up tent that clamps onto the tonneu cover, then extends up 8 feet tall. I bring a small generator with me, and my wife and i play dirt 3 and forza 4 on xbox 360 out in the middle of nowhere on a 52 inch 1080p Samsung flat screen while laying in a memory foam king size bed. I put a tailgate window regulator and motor from a 1984 suburban in the cab which i fit a one piece rear window to, made a secondary firewall i guess you could call it to contain the mechanism and i have the only obs single cab with a power rear window. I made a flap in the back of the pop up tent lined with flexible magnetic strips which attaches to the cab and creates a semi stable seal so we can have insane a/c if it gets too hot. My wife love the truck so much she actually gets depressed when we get home from the bush. Its saved our lives 4 times. Got us out of a really, REALLY bad situation with 9 or 10 dudes that aggressively drove up on us and started screaming to get oug of the truck and get on the ground...all this crazy shit. I racked a round in my pistol but then i thought, if they make a kill shot on me, i dont wanna know what theyll do to her, so i shimmied through the rear window, she followed suit, threw her in 2nd, and proceeded to throttle the shit outta these creeps with 70 mph baseball sized rocks then just took them on the express lane to gaplebees. I know those dudes would have killed me and raped then killed my wife. It was 3 in the morning, the wife and i are literally in the middle of making a baby, then these dudes showed up. I ain't scared of a damn thjng ESPECIALLY another man but 9 or 10 of them at 3am with guns and im in the act of taking the wife on a tour of climax canyon. Offputting to say the least.

we called the 88-98 an "OBS" as soon as the '99s came out, and of course RCSB was dubbed as well. Not new terminology, just go check out forums from years ago. :) Awesome build guys
I haven't watched an hour of anything on KZread in years. Amazing build video. Thanks!
My first truck was an '84 Dodge D100, and I've always wanted to get another one and build something race-oriented, but never had any thoughts on how to do the rear end aside from maybe a triangulated 4-link. I know what I want to do now. That has to be the coolest solid axle suspension I've ever seen.
Beautiful as always, but we and I speak for most of us, wanted to see the actual 1/4 mile times, especially with those 335 tires which never seen before down the track, I was thinking a 11.5 to 11.7 in the 1/4 mile, if u would of put a auto from a vette thr time would of been maybe slightly lower E.T’s But wish u guys would of cover up the back bed to make a cover for it and a bed cover to keep it all nice and neat, traction control would of been a plus to on it, but love it how u made it perform, good job fellas and to the producers a hi five to them also !
I’ve got an 89 obs Scottsdale that I’m fixing up, they’re awesome trucks
You guys are so good at what you do. I so love watching you fabricate and handle so many different jobs with apparent ease. :)
My dad still has his truck like this ....I love this truck ...every week we go out riding and get something to eat
Never seen the third link done like that this is awesome learn something every day
Thank God no silly airbag suspension. You guys nailed it with the 3-link suspension, brakes, a clutch, and LS7-type horsepower. More details on the torque absorber would have been helpful.

Thank you!! It seems every single truck that Powernation does has a cowl induction hood . So glad you didn't put one on this truck . Not all of us like them .
I got a Silverado OBS. She told me to sell it. I told her I love you.
Love it. Great build. Thanks for letting us watch the complete episodes
Omg. Sell this suspension on global scale. This thing would fly out of warehouses in no time. Besides that, holy truck, this thing is beautiful beast. Insane work, and absolute joy to watch
Had you guys sprayed the gold over gray primer first, you’d have used exponentially less material, then the black cherry would have covered the gold in a single coat so when you cleared it the tape edge would be almost nonexistent, ideal when you can’t cut and buff because of flat clear…..
The trucks are great and fun to drive. My 98 GMC is a neck turner.
Nice job on the rear suspension Jimmy! That truck is gonna carve!
That Black and Chrome looks good. Nice stance, up power it, upgrade brakes, do not notch the frame but upgrade suspension.
For Calvin’s car I’d rock the Varis kit, they have it in need for speed heat if you want to look at it. I have one fully kitted with a wrap on it. And in the game there’s a turbo flat 6 that I motor swapped into it. The meeting in the middle should be the body kit and Calvin does whatever he wants under the hood, just make sure it’s a ripper
I used to have a blue 93 Chevy sbsc I sold it when I was younger and I just now recently picked up a 98 gmc ext cab with 170,000 miles on it 5.7 vortec! I would like to turn into a sleeper eventually!!👍🏻👍🏻
I have a Olympic white 97 k1500 z71 silverado regular cab short bed. I get compliments on it when I take her out and some people make me offers. Best offer I got on the spot was 5k cash, if he doubled it I might have considered it but for now I still need a reliable truck to get me around

Great build. Love it. Carcass is my favorite Powernation show!!
I'm amazed how easy it looks to swap the engine. I'm building a 69 mustang and it was a PITA to remove the old engine and install the new upgrade. The radiator support not coming off is probably the reason
You got yourself a conversion truck. I remember doing dealer prep on base model trucks that were sent to a conversion van company for crushed velvet seats, 80's era gaudy stripes (painted on, though) sunroofs, etc. The trim was real wood, but it was builders grade lumber with minwax varnish. They were hideous and the quality was awful, but they sold well.
Got that Fall Guy color scheme going on. Beautiful combo.
