Hi again Nigel. I posted a thank you awhile back when I was derailed by assembly of the track links, excuse the pun. Again you have come to the rescue! Assembly the bogies had me stifled until I watched your calm, logical approach to putting this component together. Moving parts are always a source of modeller’s anxiety for me. I like models that sit still and collect dust:). So, thank you once again for lifting my spirits with your generous teaching. You are a gentleman and a scholar!

I’m not a beginner, but I’m certainly not on your level, by any means! I bought a ryefield Sherman too, and I have had to put it aside out of frustration ... perhaps my eyes aren’t what they used to be, or maybe my hands are a little shakey, but the PE parts really did me in... I can’t seem to affix them solidly without copious amounts of super glue, which of course looks like shite afterwards... if I do get them attached with minimal super glue, I seem to be able to snap the PE off or bend the hell out of it right away! Oh how easy was life when I was a kid building models... PE didn’t exist in that world and I loved my results lol

Great video thanks, also just to let you know the weld seam on the turret is supposed to be there, Sherman turrets are cast in two pieces ( top and bottom), the mount on the rear of the turret is to store the .50 cal MG, the little bottle thing is a searchlight stored facing down and probably to late now, but the cupola vision blocks have a slight green tint to them, kind of like looking through a Coke bottle.

That seam line on the road wheels is actually really there on the road wheels. However I’m sure in 1/35 scale it would be hard to see and especially after some use in the real world. There are pictures and discussion on the subject out there. I also remember “Coen” discussing it once on one of his Sherman videos. Unfortunately he has removed the all off KZread.

Nigel - are you aware of any aftermarket kits or parts that could remedy the half-assed (for lack of a better term) working suspension system? The fix would be a functional shock absorber. The tricky part being the correct tension of the spring within the shock cylinder, accounting for the weight of the tank and proper shock compression when the suspension is articulated. Definitely a design challenge. 🤔
