Its laughable that the bren can't use its bipod. And here i was hoping maybe they'd introduce shoulderfire lmgs with bipod and retrofit the BAR and FG42 accordingly aswell. I find the amount of P14 and Jungle Carbine enfields in the loadouts also a bit odd.

Yeah especially cause the p14 was older and mainly used by snipers and the carbine was used mainly in the Pacific by Commonwealth forces.

As much as I like seeing the P14 get some love, it's inclusion on a wide scale and the lack of the smle is a bit of a head scratcher. The lack of a no4 mk1T is also a bit of an odd choice to me.

There will be no retrofitting neither will there be adjustable elevations because of the way weapons were modeled originally in the game. Devs really screwed the pooch on this game hard. Might I remind you HLL was for the first two years Hitscan?

Really wish they kept it historically accurate with the Afrika corps, desert uniforms and some of the weapons. Was looking forward to playing with some of the earlier model tanks also.

The soviets didn’t come out with any uniforms either, they’re probably doing the brits the same way, prob gonna see more uniforms choices in a few weeks

Although the addition of a new faction is good and so are 2 new maps, the British faction has been butchered and makes no sense, also we love to wool uniforms in the desert

They messed up the No.77 phosphorus grenade. It's supposed to explode on impact after the player throws it. And it should be poisonous if you get near it for a certain time like Post Scriptum

It's not poison, it's white phosphur so it's incendiary. It also technically did have a delay fuze though I'm not sure it saw field use, the original and regular fuze was impact, in common with the No 69.

​@@Twitchy1 Inhaling the smoke from burning White Phosphorus is basically like being tear gassed, your eyes, throat, and lungs will be burning like hell and feel like they're on fire (Or maybe you just got fragged by bits of WP, which in that case you actually are on fire). But that's why they call a mixed barrage of Willy Pete and HE "Shake 'N Bake", the burning feeling from breathing in the smoke makes the OPFOR panic and try to get away from it, i.e flee their cover, then the HE comes in (The "bake" part of the barrage) and mops them up when they're out in the open.

The sounds are nice, however, there are guns that doesn't make any sense to me like the Lanchester Mk. 1 or the Enfield P14... Hope in the future the game will get more historically accurate in terms of uniforms, weaponry and vehicles, like Post Scriptum.

I know… and Cromwell and Sherman Firefly in 1942 desert map. Not my cup of tea 😐. Also the Germans have Stg44, FG42, Panzerschrek, etc. All stuff that was invented later in the war.

@@IronHeartGamingYT the Panzerschrek was used in North Africa and the FG42 was already in service as it was designed in 1940 and put into use in 1942 but it was only used by the Luftwaffe which none were in North Africa. The STG44 and all the current German tanks minus the Tiger weren't even close to being finished with the designs let alone constructed.

@@Reaperfighter04 Not at el Almain as it was made in 1943 El Almain was in 1942 and the FG42 was rare as there not that much fallshirmjäger in North Africa and the FG 42 early version had around 7000 made and yes the fallshirmjäger where there they did airborne drops near Tobruk and the F2 witch is the normal panzer IV in the game was made in 1942 around march but only 175 where so the one in game is most likely a G though but the G is just a slower version with more armor and some had trackshirts

Technically it’s not the Jungle Carbine as it was not use in World War II but the Malaysian crisis and is more like a shorten lee Enfield with was used mainly in north Africa and the mediterranean. P14 Infantry was Rare to see as in combat by the normal army but the sniper version was more common and the P14 Infantry was as common with home guard more. The Lewis Gun make less sense in 1944 for the British but then Canadians did use it though the war but in North Africa it was mainly use in tanks and vehicles less with infantry. Edit: The boys AT was use the whole war but by 1943 it stoped use as anti tank and more of a marksmen rifle just to clear that up Ps: Enjoy the videos would love to see a review of the tanks and transport vehicles

It was issued but as you say, not really tested in the battlefield which was quite lucky as it turned out to be a bit shit anyway. It had a 'wandering zero' on it, and as a rifleman, that is the last thing you want.

​@@mikec8086 The wandering zero and poor accuracy of the Jungle Carbine is a well known thing and there is a real reason for it. With wood furniture rifles, especially old designs, proper bedding of the stock, handguard, and barrel are extremely important for good accuracy. The way the Lee-Enfield barrel is bedded is more complex and a pain in the ass than most rifles, and long story short, by cutting the hanguard so far back and exposing so much of the barrel it was no longer properly bedded or supported the way it was intended to be. The lack of bedding or support affected the barrel whip when firing just enough to give it a wandering zero. Now guns back in those days were "unique" I guess you'd call it, even though they were all made on the same production line only a few would be accurate enough to be handpicked as Sniper Grade rifles while some were so bad they were outright rejected for use and scrapped or used as training rifles. Same with the Jungle Carbine, A LOT had issues with wandering zero; but at the same time some worked just fine. But it was a large enough percentage of them suffering issues that it was acknowledged as a problem and investigated.

​@@mikec8086 As for the M1 Carbine accuracy issues in Korea, the main problem was that by then most were modified into the "M2" Carbine standard. The M2 is select-fire, and a lot of twitchy trigger happy soldiers would just hold down the trigger and start blasting, and naturally couldn't hit a damn thing while riding the lightning.

Yeah, they're really trying to do a 'best of' of British armaments here, instead of nailing it down to what actually would be there at the time. I think Rising Storm 2's MP campaign nailed it really well, the early Vietnam war loadouts of WW2 holdovers make early game fights feel different the later M16/AKs maps.

BOTH maps that introduce the Brits are so disconnected to what the British should actually have is insane, no British paras uniforms for Arnhem and no Desert uniforms for Brits and Germans, this update is gonna be hell

So many other things wrong, they squashed the front sight so it obstructs most of the picture. Garand sights are larger than the Enfield ones, which makes no fucking sense and the bolt action is the same speed as the Mosin and Kar-98. It was much, much faster. Commandos actually returned the M1 Garand rifles they were given (Dieppe) and picked up their trusty bolt action again. Should look like this: i.imgur.com/zUAdS.jpg

The Brits used M1928 Thompson SMGs significantly more than Lanchesters. Jungle Carbines were issued to like one unit in the final few months of the entire war. Some really strange ahistorical choices.

Yep. The good news is that the devs have stated the British forces will get a rework in terms of weapons, cosmetics and vehicles. Weapons and vehicles will also be locked to maps and time periods. Currently there are Cromwell and Firefly tanks in El Alamein (1942) which is totally historically inaccurate. Those will be replaced by historically accurate vehicles for that time period. We have also had confirmation that the M1928 Tommy gun and a Bren with a bipod are coming for the Brits. Plus he is holding it right at the ejection port, when firing from the hip what your supposed to do is fold the carry handle down and use it as a kind of angled grip thing. At least the sten is held properly

The Lee Enfield's stripper clips are actually designed to flick out of the charger guide when the bolt is closed. Though the first charger must be manually removed, the second does not.

I remember back in the day where games wouldn't even let you reload the Garand unless it was empty (Medal of Honor/early COD). As a gamer who has adult money now, I collect Milsurp and one of them is a Garand. They in fact have an entire button to the left side of the mag that spits out whatever is in there. Silly game designers. So it isn't like you can't even see the button lol. That was a big fail for sure.

The P.14 should be a less common option for engineers or medics or something other than then the front line troops. They should have Mk.3 and Mk.4 Lee Enfields. The Mk.5 ‘Jungle Carbine’ shouldn’t be available on El Alamein.

Still crap in comparison to Post Scriptum’s weapon sounds. If only that game got the same amount of support as this then it would be a true WW2 shooter.

Not giving the British the desert uniforms with those sexy desert shorts and the desert puttees is a sin. Plus where are all the parachute regiment uniforms since the map Driel is part of Operation Market Garden? Plus why did they give us the Lanchester instead of the Thompson sub machine gun? That would have made way more sense. Plus the 1914 pattern Lee Enfield was hardly used at all in WW2. Plus where’s the bipod for the Bren? That’s literally the whole point of why the British used it at the time. Plus the PIAT sounds like a rifle in this update. In reality it sounds like ‘kplonk’ or like a ‘thud’ because the firing pin for the bomb’s propellant is released on a spring so it sounds very springy when you shoot it. If you are being shot at with a PIAT it’s actually pretty quiet. To be honest this was a pretty shit update. It shouldn’t be that hard to get it right.

Agreed on most of that but while I think the PIAT is inaccurate, because it feels too much like the existing AT launchers. I understand that its firing mechanism uses a spring and a blank charge to propel the warhead. So it wasn’t a rocket launcher like the bazooka or panzerschrek but it wasn’t just spring loaded.

sucks that you cant deploy the bipod with the bren. 4:13 Rear sight on the lee enfield is way too small, both in aperture size and the rear sight itself, bolt speed on the lee enfield is way too slow. 8:46 revolver ejects full shells, but this doesn't affect gameplay like the other stuff

It was used extensively in the early war, including the battle for the western desert 1940-1943. The Brits didn’t have a submachine gun at the outbreak of WW2 so they bought loads of Thompsons.

The Owen was superior to the Sten, it didn't jam with sand, mud or water, the Army used it up until Vietnam. Fucknows why it wasn't included. Edit: the Aussies used it, as we had bugga all. Even pinched tanks off the Italians & painted Roos on the side.

I think a solution to the accuracy issue would be to have barracks loadout options for different years of the war or load outs and character outfits you can attach to different maps if you please. But in order to do this they need to first get the basics down. I understand it can be slightly underwhelming but they aren’t a triple A studio. It will take time and community feedback.

I tend to agree. While I like the direction of sticking to more historically accurate weapons and vehicle options on the different maps I think they could have kept some of the guns like the P.14 for an engineer loadout or Lanchester for one of the assault loadouts. The Jungle Carbine really was a very late war development so probably best not to include that. Especially not on El Alamein.

Why they bothered to add a map from 1942 while both sides dont even look the part is insane, how long until we get historically accurate loadouts and vehicle selections. Fighting Panthers in Africa with Cromwells and Fireflies while Germans wear 1944 Normandy Camos and Grey is ridiculous

The iron sights on the weapons are horrendous. No bipod on the Bren coupled with the recoil and huge ass sight makes it unplayable for me, specialy going agains Germans and theyer superior weapons. HLL is not a hardcore sim so I dont understand how anyone can think that Brit faction is balanced compared to the US and German. Yesterday while playing I also run into some weird performance issues on El Alamein. In some places I went from avg. 90 fps to 10/15 and stayed at this level untill I died, making the game unplayable. So for now I will avoid playing the new update maps.

People really complainimg about a free Update in a Game that costs 30€ about content that will be added later As if the Devs wouldnt add desert Uniforms If you cant Play the map without them just leave and Join an other game

also since when did everything have tracers

I have anger management issues. I punched a hole through my Rog Strix monitor when I saw this shit update and ugly maps. Now I game with 60fps on old screen.

I played this morning with some fellas that said just keep running straight and turn your audio low the bren is hard to control and the sound is deafening 🤣

I used the Bren once and threw it away. Shit weapon without bipod.

The sten is probably the worst of the smgs it has horrible bullet velocity

Wait what? Africa had some of the most unique weapons and vehicles and uniforms of the war and its still the same stuff?

Why didn't they add the full piat reload? And why the fuck did they add an animation for the boys and Bren gun where the character switches hands unrealistically during the reload? Unnecessary waste of time.

I won’t lie I’m kind of disappointed with this update, i was expecting more from T17. The Brown can’t use its bipod, the Lee-Enfield No4 is as basic as the Kar98k except with an extra five bullets, it really should have a higher fire rate at least and the Sten is inaccurate as hell

This might be more realistic than most but it still needs balance, they cant make the Lee Enfield better than the gun its fighting in every way.

@@danielwoods3896 Well they simply can. They have no semi-automatic rifle and they already BUFFED the Garand sights. Why are we talking about balance when the British have no other option but are fighting against weapons that were hardly used at the time (Gewer 43; SVT-40 - etc). Otherwise, for balance, they should really be adding a massive fucking kick to the Garand, reverting back to the old sights and including sway. We're not asking for a huge speed advantage, just a noticeable one like in the war. You can practically shoot at the fire limit with the Garand and still see most of what is going on around you. It's basically an 8 round automatic if you want it to be. And the whole squad gets one, no unlocking needed.

The only good Brit gun is the fucking piat. Just because of its reload speed aswell.

Reload on the Lee Enfield (SMLE) is all wrong as well...did they literally just reskin existing weapons for this? Bren = BAR, SMLE = KAR98 .. disappointed...they even wasted time building a Lewis Gun...which wasn't even used in WW2 in front lines!

It's not even an SMLE either, they went with the 'home guard' rifle with the P14. Shame the Lee Enfield shoots the same speed as the slower bolt actions when in reality it was much quicker. Lee Enfield sights are also smaller and more obstructed than the M1 Garand which uses an aperture sight... and added sway for no reason. Bren gun takes up half the screen while sprinting and using the sights. Such a bulky and difficult thing to use.

I think the brits Had to much tea desinig the Iron sights in there guns. You cant See shit when you want to aim. The only Clean iron sight is the on ont the Lancaster beckous ITS a German copy

Disagree, I wanted to demonstrate what it looked like firing from the hip, then while looking down the sights and I also wanted to show the reload animation + whether or not each gun could use a bipod.

They need to do an update with spec ops units and night raids.

So many people complaining, they’ve literally just brought out the update. obviously there’s going to things that aren’t right or not accurate.

They're not even accurate either. Puts depth of field on the Garand and somehow a pinhole sight is bigger than a round sight. Makes literally no sense. i.imgur.com/zUAdS.jpg
