@@toriellsimon9075 man that’s tough, I have a soft spot for dung beetles since my thesis was about them, but bombardier beetles are also pretty cool (and have so much potential as a Pokémon design). Off the top of my head, horned darkling beetles like the Bolitotherus are also pretty rad.

Ooooooo very cool theme team you faced in the first battle. Star Wars: The Bad Batch! I had my suspicions it was going to be that or some other Clone Trooper team as soon as I saw Echo the Bisharp, but Wrecker the Bewear is what confirmed it for me

The first theme team is based on the Bad Batch from Star Wars the Clone Wars

Loved this beetle battle :D (bug type getting some love is never bad)

I actually really enjoyed the reference pictures! Nice little additions

Another animal group you could do is Echinoderms (E-ky-no-derms)? It’s a phylum of Marine Invertebrates that includes Starfish, Sea Cucumbers, and Urchins. You could use Staryu and Starmie, Mareanie and Toxapex, Pyukumuku and Pincurchin! You could do some cool sets with those and it’s a full team of 6!

@@zachstrebeck Mareanie/Toxapex are sea stars (specifically the crown of thorns) which are echinoderms, though with their design and typing you could confuse it for a cnidarian.

@@zachstrebeck Mareanie kinda does look like an anemone doesn’t it? But their appearance and behavior of devastating corsola populations more closely mirrors the ecology of the crown-of-thorns sea stars in real life, that mainly feed on corals

As someone who is fascinated and loves anything beetle related, this was like the best birthday present ever lol Edit: Yep, I've kept beetles before has pets

Only pokemon I think that could beat out Genesect (which I think looks more like an ant IMO) as a beetle is Pheromosa, if a roach is considered a beetle.

Satoshi Tajiri, the main creator himself! Insect collecting is a pretty common hobby in Japan but Satoshi especially loved it because he wanted to research them and become an entomologist.

Honestly when I heard it I was hoping he’d be against a theme team. I thought galar scowling might be morgott or radahn. And you could have a lot of other options like Hatterene for ranni and machoke for hoara loux

pokemon is the only scenario that i will like beetles~ great video and content!!

Heracross and Pinsir are one of my favorite bug type Pokemon.

The brainstorm in the discord was a massive headache about what pokemon are and aren't beetles

Should have had karrablast as well as escavalier, since escavalier is just karrablast but inside some armor. Genesect seems to be more related to treehoppers

@@ItzMeItzMe_ I like collecting novelties like that. To get an Alolan Marowak with bubble beam you have to teach Cubone Bubble Beam in gen 1, then transfer it to gen 7 to evolve it. It is one of those things that no one would expect anyone to have because it is so obscure and specific. Marowak can also learn ice beam and thunderbolt, which are more moves no one would expect it to learn. The biggest drawback is the fact that Cubone from gen 1 is 100% stuck with its hidden ability. (Which means my set is stuck with a useless ability in rock head.) Great ability normally, garbage ability for a special set.

Maybe an African Savanna team. Girafarig for giraffes, Hippowdon for hippos, either Luxray or Pyroar for lions, etc. There may be enough you could possibly even do two sets, so you definitely have plenty of options.

Wait so if Karrablast is based off a snail eating beetle, does that mean shelmet is a snail and when they are traded together the karrablast attempts to eat the shelmet and uses it’s shell for armour and Accelgor is an injured/almost dead Shelmet which is why it’s covered in bandages 👀😂

Yes, partially (also to stop itself from drying out) which is also why Escavalier has such beefy defenses and Accelgor is incredibly fast. It's like on Dragonball Z when they take off their training armor and they're crazy fast afterwards
