The trajectory of Jennifer Hudson is beyond inspirational, from being gratuitously eliminated from American idol to winning an Oscar to loosing half of her family in one breath to ultimately playing her idol to perfection. This woman is a once in a generation talent and I hope she gets a lot of respect come award season coz her portrayal of Aretha Franklin is incomparable

The most successful American Idol losers so far. She also got a Grammy and Emmy, only a Tony Award left then she'll become an EGOT soon. To me what Jessica is saying about discomfort is to not settle and to challenge yourself constantly to grow, whereas when Kristen and Kirsten mentioned comfort, it was more about confidence and owning the role you're in, knowing you have what it takes. It's two different things but both are true.

Long story short I've met her accidentally (walking to my bus stop) and i was sooo blown away by her humbleness and graciousness. I saw her approaching fans and signing autographs, and i know how all celebrities act-they just sign something without even looking at people, but She was so different! She looked at every person in their eyes EVERY time she was signing autographs! She took her time to honor Every person! I didnt even bother to ask for autograph because i was observing her and admiring what she was doing. I could see it was challenging for her to look at everyone in their eyes (its so intimate and powerful) but she did it anyway! So much grace, so much respect, so much honor! After that every time i see her im reminded of her amazing qualities, Thank you, Jessica!

Ms. Stewart's brilliance in the movie and during the roundtable about her craft was made clear by her talking about the one real thing Princess Di had was her children--what Kristen said was intended was completely 100% what i saw on the screen. Final box office earnings is $774.2 million on a $250-$301 million budget. Adding promo costs to it the movie cost around $350 million and needed at least $800 million to break even. Considering it was the Pandemic and was only $25 million away from the break even goal, I'm confident it would have easily earned more than $800 million without COVID. That's not a normal box office failure movie.

Tessa Thompson is so beautiful and was magnificent in Passing. She deserves so much more recognition for her performance than she's currently getting. She killed it. It's unfortunate that, because of the subject matter and the racism that still runs rampant today, some people won't take the time to watch Passing and digest all the nuances of the film. From Tessa and Ruth Negga to Andre Holland, there are several brilliant performances that many may miss out on.

Regardless, they're all brilliant. Hudson and Chastain's films aren't my cup of tea but Emilia Jones is a revelatory breakout.

There is sooooooo much connected to it and maybe a perfect example of what the society we live now actually IS. And tied to that, also the perfect reason as to why this medium is still so incredibly important. In a time when we seem to be disconnecting more and more from each other precisely because we have too many means of connecting, film (and tv) is still a way of holding up a mirror and invoking empathy and sympathy where otherwise there might not be any.
