Steve is comparing them to early Leafs but it's not accurate. Devils SA, HDA, Corsi and 5v5 numbers are strong. Good PK, mid Powerplay. Young Leafs were very reliant on special teams. Goaltending and discipline are NJs issue, but less penalties get called in the playoffs. That said, Shersterkin is .944sv% last 12 games, he is looking elite again. Devils had his number during the season especially Jack. Devils in 7.

I took Boston and Edmonton the day after the final regular season game. Like you said. I think its going to come down to who has the easier route to the finals. Who can get out of series quicker and healthier.

That makes me not feel alone, for I have been cursed with being able to see an offside, a penalty, a tip-in in real-time. And I react the same way as you do when it comes to the Leafs. Producer Drew and the rest of us Avs fans would like to thank you for picking against Colorado. You picked them the previous years which never worked out but last year you finally picked against them which freed them from your curse. Now they actually have a chance to go back to back. By the way, what would be the worst case scenario for Leafs fans? I really hope Broissoit carries his recent play into the playoffs. I don’t think he’s being recognized enough. He is probably the biggest reason why Vegas was able to survive the insane push by Edmonton at the end of the season.

That’s if they make it past Winnipeg tho. Steve completely overlooked Winnipegs play at the start of the season and their last few games going into playoffs. Also overlooked the new defensive strats that Rick Bowness has implemented. Connor Hellebuyck ON HIS OWN could steal this series and so I think when u add the rest of the Jets depth chart to that. I think u got Winnipeg in 7. It’ll be WAY CLOSER then ppl think. I don’t see any way this series goes to less then 7

i picked pretty much the same bracket, the only thing that was different was i thought that the stars would go, because while the oilers aren't likely to get beaten by a goalie, i think if one was to do it, considering what oettinger did to the flames last year, and considering that the oilers strength is pretty much just tied to their offensive game, and that their defense and goaltending isn't as well rounded as the stars are, i think it's possible that in a 7 game series the stars come out on top (still have the stars losing to boston though)

Hampus Lindholm has had an incredible season for the bruins and this may be a hot take but he will be Stanley cup mvp

I think you've won me over on all of your picks. Except the last one. Everyone's like "Oh Ekholm has transformed the Oilers since the trade deadline! More goals shorthanded than the opposition's powerplays, bla bla bla." People forget: Edmonton beat Boston BEFORE adding Ekholm. Edmonton *_came back and beat Boston in regulation_* BEFORE adding Ekholm. Edmonton has been the hottest team in the league since January 11, which is starting 50 days BEFORE adding Ekholm. And then they added Ekholm.

Devils play way harder then the young Leafs ever did, compare their GA, SA, HDA and PK to early Leafs, not even close. Jack will probably get bounced around a bit, but they can fight back. Devils in 7

for boston i believe either marchand pasternak bergeron or krejci will be injured or slightly knocked off after the florida series so i got toronto winning in 7 in the ecsf

I really think despite it being potentially the most boring series to watch that Canes Islanders series is intriguing to me. I really can see the Islanders coming out of that series. It’ll be a defensive snooze fest but let’s see how playoff Sorokin plays cause he could very easily dominate this series.

For the Conn Smythe, If we go with the Boston i hope and think, there is one men who is bit overshadowed, I believe that Lindholm is sneakly the biggest upgrade and will be a big reason for their success.

Before I finish the last series of the first round, I have agreed with all of your teams up to this point. Maybe not the games. I have Avs, for instance, in 6. I do think the Oilers will win in 7. Okay, now I'll continue the video.

Vancouver had their "slay the dragon" moment against Chicago years ago... Leafs will "slay the bear" this year!

In many ways similar to last year with Colorado and Tampa but even moreso this year, Boston and Edmonton seem to be on a collison course.

I think Colorado not going deeper is the boldest pick. They had 4 total players play all 82 games and still won the central, tied Oilers for 2nd in the west being 2 points back of Vegas. The defending champs gotta have more respect given their performance in spite of injuries.

I think there’s no way that Tampa Bay goes down against Toronto in round 1. 2 cups and 3 finals, plus most of their core is intact and also Vasilevsky? That’s a shut down group. Lightning in 7 for round 1

Pastarnak gunna get the Conn Smythe. If not him probably Mcdavid or Mackinnon even though Mikko imo is the one who deserves it most in colorado. He has kept us alive through this season when Mack was out. He's been the heart of this team this season.

As an Oilers fan I think Rants is their best forward. Mack is great and flashy but remember....Mack was considered a borderline bust before Rants showed up. Rants carried the Avs this year and is such a great player. He reminds me of Drai quite a lot.

Im wondering if anyone else feels the way i do. I personally think this will be the season the oilers figure out what it takes to win a cup just like the oilers in the 80s against the islanders, we need a finals series that gives us the hunger for a cup to go on a run we have the tean built since woodcroft took over we have been unreal but we need this final motivation to make this team unstopabble. I dont like saying this but i think the oilers will lose to the bruins in the finals but i have hooe that it will spark the next generation of hockey to finally begin. Mine was pretty similar I had New Jersey Vrs Boston in the final four in the East and Oilers vrs Stars in the West but I had the Stars and New Jersey in the finals

Avs will have a full lineup sans landeskog for the playoffs, been confirmed from the team. theyre still the team to beat in the west. lets run it back also thinking dallas can contain mack, rants, makar, and others like lekonen, nichuskin, byram, and toews is really funny. only team i think can keep up with the avs in the west are the oilers and thats only because they can outscore their problems. but we all know how that ended last time.

As much as I love the Avs I think realistically it unlikely we make it past the third round. We just haven’t had enough time (or no time) as a full healthy team and that matters. I think anything is possible and I think we can definitely beat Dallas but if I were a betting person, I just don’t think it’s going to happen again this year…with that being said we won the west without having a full team for even one game this year… so I’m very optimistic moving forward!

There’s nothing that shows the stars can’t beat the Avs. In their Stanley cup run last year they didn’t even play a team nearly as good as this Dallas team with Tampa being held together by duct tape missing Point and Vasy playing like garbage

I can't get past how the Ref Jersey makes Dangles's Body look Cartoonish compared to his body and the Room.

Oilers fan here, if it does come to Oilers vs. Bruins, I think it would 100% go to 6 or 7 games. For which side I don’t know. Bruins are the better rounded team, but the Oilers have proved they can take them on. That comeback win in the regular season for example. That was some of the best hockey I’ve seen and it was regular season. If the Oilers replicate that then I’d say they have a chance of giving Boston a run for their money. Hard to say either way

The Stars offense disrespect is nuts. We have a top-5 point-getter & top-7 goal-scorer this year in Robo, 3 30-goal scorers, 5 or 6 70-pt getters, etc.

It's worth noting that between the NHL, NBA, NFL, and MLB, the team that has set the regular season wins record has never won a championship. 116 win Mariners, 16-0 Patriots, 73 win Warriors, and the 62 win Lightning/Red Wings.

Yes like I understand where Steve is coming from with how many wins they have but as we all know playoffs are different. Everything resets. Will the Bruins still win? Maybe but I wouldn’t say they’re easily go straight to the finals. I think The Canes could give them a run for their money, Leaf’s maybe but that would require us winning a round.

Leafs gonna beat Boston in 7, slaying all their demons - but then get swept by rangers who go on to lose to the oilers in the final.

I love hockey. But I can not live without playoff hockey. There is nothing better in professional sports.

Seattle had some of the worst goaltending in the league by save percentage but somehow managed a respectable 14th-place 3.04 GAA over the entire year due to their ability to limit shots and high-danger chances. Imagine if they just had league-average goaltending. It'd be a *huge* difference. Then they're 3rd in goals/game despite having only one true goal scorer and their highest scoring player being less than half a McDavid (thank God we avoided them). I think the Kraken at least make it to 6 games. They did win the season series against the Avs this season 2-1, but the Avs are better now than they were then. Even with that said, I still wouldn't call the Kraken my ultimate dark horse for this year - that honor goes to the Islanders. However, I think Seattle has a better chance than people are giving them credit for on their own merits

You know what they say Steve, there's the regular season and then there's the playoffs. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Toronto Maple Leafs against the Edmonton Oilers for the Stanley Cup finals.

Oilers and Leafs both have terrible paths to the cup. Good teams but it'll be tough. Bruins in the east and I like the Stars in the west but we'll see if Robertson shows up this year; offense disappeared against Calgary. Stars couldn't score at all against Markstrom which, as the Oilers proved in the 2nd round, wasn't actually that difficult to do. If they get over that hump they'll be deadly.
