Fulford Place Letter Series Letter #4

The year of 1900 has almost come to an end and it has been quite successful for the Fulfords. The home we know as the Fulford Place is now complete and George has gained notoriety in terms of his business. “Miracle cures” had begun occurring all across the country claiming to be from the use of his Pink Pills for Pale People, which assisted in George’s immense business success. George Fulford does make a reference to a carbuncle; this is an ailment of a boil due to an infection underneath the skin. A carbuncle could lead to death but as we hear in the letter it is getting better for George.
Additionally, in this letter George is discussing with Mary the purchase of a new Steinway piano. The Steinway piano was George’s first Christmas gift to Mary in the house in 1901, which can still be seen in the drawing room of the Fulford Place. Mary was an incredibly talented pianist and both their daughters were gifted singers, creating a beautiful source of entertainment for the Fulford’s and their guests.
