The Fujifilm XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS is the cheapest Fujifilm lens you can buy on the used market, how does it hold up on the X-T30 and X-Pro 1 now that it is almost a decade old? In this Review of the Fuji XC 16-50 I show very many sample images from several trips to Hamburg and Switzerland.

Thanks for the review. You’re an awesome photographer
high quality video from you, thank you ! great review and the shots are perfect to visualize how versatile the lens is. I was just wondering if you were using any presets/recipes equivalent and if yes, where which website ?

Thank you! I believe I edited them with Joe Allam’s urban stone presets.
Brilliant! It's amazing what good skill can do in finishing. My trusty travel kit was a Nikon D610 w/ AF Nikkor 24-85mm f2.8-4D Macro. This on a D70s (DX) was still amazing.

Awesome review! I used to have both the XC 16-50mm and XC 50-230mm but sold them due to barely using them. I also have the F2 23, 35, and 50 which I thought would be enough after selling both the XC lenses. The F2 23mm eventually had aperture issues and ended up selling it. That's when I was regretting selling the XC lenses because I didn't have anything wide enough or telephoto when I wanted to go beyond 50mm. I picked up the XF 16-80mm recently but that weight was too much for my bad wrist for hand held shots which is what I mainly do. I returned it and just picked up the XC 16-50mm and XC 50-230mm again to keep in my kit. These will probably be the only zooms I'll keep in my kit from now on or if I find a great deal on the XF 18-55mm to replace the XC 16-50mm. Both the XC zoom lenses I picked up still cost less than a single XF 18-55mm used. I might pick up another F2 23mm in the future as well as the F2.8 16mm but in no rush or need since the XC 16-50mm covers those ranges already.
Danke für das video ❤

Gerne 😊 Danke fürs schauen 🙏
The version II of the 16-50 has a close up distance of 15cm, compared to the 30cm of Version I. It's OIS is also improved to 3.5 stops. So, saying don't get version II when you can find them for 140 dollars doesn't make sense.

How does it hold up with xt30? Does it affect the color and af anyhow?

Thank you - I'm trying to find what lens for the X-T30 will fit my needs, and this video is super helpful. I like how versatile this and other standard range focal length Fuji lenses are. The XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 should offer the same low light performance, correct? I'm leaning in that direction since it is more compact, but I'm also impressed at the quality you were able to get in low light conditions from the 16-50. EDIT: I think I answered my own question, low light should be the same. Basically with the 15-45 you get compactness at the expense of no manual zoom control. Some people also seem to think the 15-45 is sharper, but the difference is slight. It would be cool if they made something the size of the 15-45 with manual zoom.

Yes you got that right, if you can live with the motor zoom then go with the XC 15-45, in a bag or jacket pocket it will definitely take up less space :) Just keep in mind that when zooming it also protrudes a fair bit.
Nice video and like the prints, can you provide me a link to the site of your printing company?
Bro, where did you get that silicon viewfinder hood?
Stimmt I have been am looking for a cheaper zoom lens for my X-T1, my X-E2 and thinking 🤔 about picking up a Pentax K series soon ! Love your style of photography. I like to not to include so much distractions in a photo... great video !!! Grusse from Schwäbisch Hall!!!

Can anybody answer, what Fstop can be use on 23mm of this lens? 3.5 , 4, or 5.6 ?
Sigue haciendo videos por favor ❤❤
How does it compare to xc 15-45? Especially when it comes to portrait shots? Thanks

Difficult to say as I’ve not used the 15-45 personally, but it has a motor zoom which I’m not a fan of, I would go for the 16-50 due to the normal zoom and a bit more range on the higher end, but if portraits are your main goal I would pick up the XC 35mm F2, it’s a lot sharper and has a lower aperture. I’ve got a video on it on my channel as well.
I also have this lens, but I cannot remember how I got it?? Must have been part of a kit. I do use it a lot as its so light, but as you say, it's not the sharpest.

If I'm buying one... 16 50 OR 15 45...? Dose the 45 have IBS?
@futc.photography
Жыл бұрын
Yes the 15-45 also has stabiliziation. But it also comes with the motor zoom so you zoom by activating a motor that then zooms back and forth, I prefer a traditional zoom ring as on the 16-50 where you have direct control. But that's of course personal preference

The 16 50 has 12 elements in 10 groups vs the 15 45's 10 elements in 9 groups. I prefer lenses with more elements as they tend to perform better. Having 12 elements in a cheap kit lens is very unusual, and is a good sign for the 16 50.
