I am a 100% still photographer, and I love this camera. I love the size and the battery for me lasts all day with my primarily OVF shooting. The controls are wonderful. I do value the 40 megapixels. A f2.8 the lens is paired perfectly with the sensor. At f2, the lens can’t fully resolve the sensor. Not a big deal for me. That being said, UHS-I is just Fuji being cheap. When I travel I often just plug my camera into my laptop or phone, and it would be far better if the off loading of photos would be faster. For your use, I completely understand that reasonable expectation.

so from your experience, light and portable xpro3 vs gfx50r? i'm holding xpro3 and thinking about to switch to gfx50r, but a bit concerned about it's speed, i think xpro3 is relatively fast, but not the rocket fast, and sometimes that lag between releasing the shutter button and actual capture is kinda forever (even in manual mode that i shoot), i used to taking pics in 'topography' style and environment around, but lately it's become my family's daily cam and taking pics of my son, always crop the images to 4x3, just love this aspect ratio, so what do you think?

From my experience I kept an X-Pro 3 until my desires transitioned me to a new camera. I didn’t purchase anything based on anyone else’s opinion or ideas - I wanted something so I switched. I’d advise the same. My experience won’t help you but your own desire can tell you whether something is GAS to actual logic to your thinking.

Not a professional cam. So the issues of write speed to the card doesn’t matter. It’s a carry around camera. Pocket cam. Not a serious cam. I’ve used the xt30 as a 3rd cam for weddings and it worked for just that. I used the x100v for the same thing. It’s not meant for those things and I went into it knowing that. I've had X100T, X100V, and now the X100VI (for about 3 weeks now). I can also confirm that it feels like a minor upgrade from the V. Jumping from T to the V was significant because there was a lens upgrade. If you have the V, I do not see the reason for someone to upgrade. IBIS is overrated but it might be because I do not shoot long-exposure shots. The 40 mega-pixels is an overkill for this type of camera as well. Just prepare to get more hard drive space. I only got this camera because I got my X100V stolen and I missed it dearly.

Ive felt the 'boring' vibe recently while trying out the Lumix S5ii. Great camera, very capable but it was super dull to use and I realised it was because it was doing nothing that I hadn't seen or had access to before. For photography now it's really hard to give us something different so we tend to vibe with cameras for other reasons, for me that's enjoyment of use as I know capability is always covered. I agree with the churning out of upgrades and because of the limit of what they can push it can feel like very minimal upgrades which then for a thinking consumer puts doubt into whether to drop cash or not. The VI felt like one of those releases and, if I still shot Fujifilm, I don't think there would be enough to upgrade to. Always refreshing to hear someones opinion on a piece of gear and good you don't sheep the rest of the internet and just give it how it is.

I had an X100T for 5 years which cost me £700 new with leather case in 2016. It was good enough back then. I would love an X100VI but I would never pay £1500 for these now. It has a lot of stuff in it I just don't need. The only camera I would sell my XT3 for is an XPro4 titanium with no screen and ISO dial on the back. I would pre-order that bad-boy. At the same time, if Fuji doesn't release something I vibe with soon, I'm keeping an eye on the Nikon ZF to see if they actually release some decent small lenses with aperture rings. I doubt they will though.

Dee- good morning and as always- good shit 💩 😂 I am almost convinced that the Main reason why Fuji pushed this iteration instead of something new - adding all the features you mentioned (newer battery and card slot) was because they already had the majority of theses x100v parts laying around from the pandemic shortages. When they added the 5mm , that seemed as if they retooled their existing stocks to fit these added features from the xt5. The people who wanted the x100v would have been better served by Fuji if this was a mark ii. Fuji could have re-released the x100v . Then maybe make a truly new x100vi. Keep killing them Dee. This will be my first Fujifilm (receiving it in may). I have never touched a x100v. Main reason for my pre order was because I wanted a edc camera and am very intrigued by Fuji jpeg and film simulations (again, never experienced it personally). Also, it’s a nice looking camera. I am a Sony shooter and will continue using Sony for my paid work. Hopefully I can put the x100vi to use for my small restaurant’s content uploads. My only worry is that a 23mm apsc lens may not be for me. I don’t care for the 40mp with this lens and the card slot does limit this camera. I think this camera needed to follow what leica did and add internal storage or like you said UHS2 Tbh im not a fan of Fujifilm making all their cameras hybrids. And to me at least the X100 series needs to just be a photography focused camera. I would rather this camera be a bit bigger just for that larger battery too. I also don’t think this Lens can support the resolution either. But i feel Fuji just released and rushed this camera because of the huge boom and demand for the x100v So hopefully they improve the x100 7

Yeah I have to admit I feel the same. It’s why I liked the X-Pro 3 so much. Because it WASNT a hybrid camera first. It was stills. I think it would have been ok to keep this a stills camera first, skip on all the extra video specs like 6.2K, and kept if the same price as the V with the added sensor, processor and ibis combo.

... sounds similarly to my rationalization for opting for the X-H2 over the X-T5... CFexpress Type-B vs UHS-II... full-size HDMI vs micro-HDMI... dedicated headphone jack vs USB-C headphone dongle... 5.69 mil dot EVF vs 3.69 mil dot EVF... optional vertical battery grips vs metal hand grip... other things may be more subjective such as PASM vs dials or flip vs articulating screens. There are some huge positives by spending a few extra hundred bucks to go with the X-H2... ... but I can understand why an individual might just prefer the X-T5's aesthetics and shooting experience over the X-H2. I think it is a similar case when it comes to the X100-series of cameras.

I agree too. I've slowly gone off Fuji over the years and there are much better alternatives. I just sold off my last Fuji lens this week. I've literally owned over a dozen of their cameras and lenses over 11 years. I thought they were the best and clung in there for things to improve. However, I swapped over to Nikon Z about two years ago and use them for all of my paid gigs and events, and of course for all of my personal stuff. I went to India for a month, at the beginning of this year. I wanted to recapture the Fuji experience to see if I'd been too harsh a critic of them for swapping over to FF. I even bought a used X-H1 off ebay to take with me and the XF 18mm 1.4 lens. I shot over 10,000 images whilst in India, on the X-H1. However, after reviewing all of my images now and reflecting on my experience, it was the best decision to dump Fuji and move over to FF. I'm disappointed I tainted my once in a lifetime trip to India, and didn't used my Nikons and relied on Fuji instead. Oh well, that's part of the learning experience.

at least you had 11 years of relatively good experience with Fuji. my first was with a Fuji XF10 and it straight up killed my high expectations about Fuji lmao. sold the camera off 2 months later cause it's not as good as the GRii. i know they have the XPro and the X100, but they're still in the scalpers price range even used.
