Fujifilm X100V - Film Recipes vs. Edited RAWs

Ғылым және технология

After my last X100V video, I realised there was a surprising amount of interest in Fujifilm recipes. I received a good amount of comments asking the same question: can I share my "recipe"? The truth is that I don't use any in particular and I just adjust my settings almost every day. However, I was curious about those famous recipes and decided to give them one more chance. Today we are comparing the Portra 400 and Kodachrome 64 jpegs with edited RAWs.

I think part of the difference between Lightroom and Capture 1 may be that Fuji is said to have shared their film simulation codes with Capture 1 for a license fee probably and that Adobe wrote their best guess. Adding fujixweekly adjustments on top of two different demosaic codes further complicates things I think. That sort of continues the "worm" issue of a few years ago with Adobe not writing code for Fuji raw conversion like Capture 1 did, but making a post conversion adjustment to make the problem less apparent.

the "worms" issue is beyond my comprehension… some years ago I did give C1 a go, and compared the images processed by C1 and Lightroom. The difference was noticeable, but unfortunately I never managed to get my head around that UI. That, and the lack of an iOS app were deal breakers for me. Even years later, when they finally did one, it felt unfinished somehow. Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I cannot understand how a massive company like Adobe doesn't pay Fuji, or cannot figure it out. I am assuming they signed some kind of exclusivity contract with C1?

Love this video! Thank you :) Would love to see you try using xraw studio by Fuji where you edit with the film setting after the fact but they are processed through the camera. Haven’t seen a good video on this yet from anyone on KZread.

First of all, im a new subscriber, but i love the content you are pushing out - always feels authentic and has a high level of passion that I enjoy. This was a great video as this is something that has been on my mind recently, i have decided to buy into the Fuji system as my first camera, X100V and the XT5 are my top contenders, but hearing/reading all the feedback that Lightroom doesnt work very well with Fuji images had me worried - I prefer Lightroom for its cloudsync and android client. Seeing the comparisons has made me less worried - I still think the edited RAW's still look great, and the dual RAW + JPEGs means i might be able to get the best of both worlds! Looking forward to seeing more content in the future 😄

Lightroom works nowadays just fine, the issue was more apparent some years ago when you really had to dial down the by default sharpness Lightroom applies to photos. I use Lightroom for the exact same reasons and I don't remember when was the last time I had any problem with ^^ Also, welcome and thank you! :)

Hola Sebastián! Fíjate que no conocía Dehancer pero hace unas semanas me escribieron para hacer una colaboración con ellos y llevo ahora unos días probándolo. En las próximas 1-2 semanas debería tener listo el vídeo!

@@carlosdomi beautiful work. I’d like for someone to let me borrow or test out cameras for a day. Cause I’m torn between the Sony or Fuji, or even good ol canon 😫
