I would recommend the battery grip. Unlike other camera grips, this one does not use the battery slot of the camera body to interface. This gives 3 batteries to use. In addition, the FPS is boosted as well as AF speed with the higher voltage available. Also can help with balance when using a tele.

Thanks for the candid review and presentation. I started my Fujifilm dslr after my ownership of the X70 and X100V which inspired me because of the retro look and operation. I started looking for the XT series and found out Fujifilm made the X series up to and including X-T2 plus the X-H1 in Japan; other dlsrs (included T3, T4, S10, etc.) were made offshore other than Japan. I have my eyes on the X-T2, and found/purchased a new one in July of 2021 at a reasonable discounted price. I enjoyed it and very happy with the Fujifilm dslr experience. I am wishing Canon and others will start doing it!

Being an artist has always been a part of my life. In my adult life I've not had an outlet, been looking to getting into photography for months to have that creative outlet again. I've watched videos on all the canons (30D, RP, M50 and so on), the sonys (a6000 - 64000, a7ii and iii). None of them did it for me and i didnt know why. But you're video, and seeing someone feel passionately about a camera to commit a 30 minute video for it is plenty enough to convince me.

At last a video that gives a balanced assessment of the camera. I recently bought a an X-T30 Mark II and was utterly stunned by the sensor and lenses. I more or less gave away my Canon and Nikon equipment as carting around that gear was just too much. I am really impressed by Fujifilm cameras and by pure chance came across a virtually unused X-T2. Nice equipment but I am astonished by the prints that come straight out of both cameras. I begin to wonder why I’ve been so enthralled by Canon and Nikon all these years.

This is actually a tough choice. The X-T30 has better video data rate options including optional 10bit output to an external recorder. They both have a short recording limit with no accessories but the X-T2 can record up to 30 minutes with the battery grip. I would say if you're going to invest in an external recorder than building a rig based around the X-T30 will give you the most options. But if you're not sure you want to get an external recorder than go with the X-T2. If you add the battery grip to the X-T2 then you get longer record times, headphone jack, an external power source. The X-T2 is also weather sealed and just has an overall better build quality. (also, on your search keep an eye out for an X-T3. Sometimes you can find these at great prices and this would be the perfect sweet spot for video.) EDIT: To add one big point. I think the dual card slots in the X-T2 could be a huge difference too giving you more internal storage) Thanks for watching! Let me know what you decide to get.

Found a good deal on an xt2 body in 2020 and it was my stepping point into the fuji ecosystem. So far I have the 35mm f2, 18mm f2 and 23mm f2 fuji primes and an adapter for my f mount lenses too (I have a nikon FM I alternate with). Even though the body is old now I still love the camera and really haven't needed anything more. I was using an even older DSLR up until recently and even that was adequate for my needs tbh. Only reason I'd upgrade from the xt2 would be for IBIS but I'm not ready to shell out $1000+ for it. I'd probably use that towards a used GFX body that I could adapt my mamiya 645 lenses to.

I think if you’re still discovering what focal lengths you prefer for street then start with the 18-55mm and see what focal length you’re drawn too. Then buy the prime closest to that focal length when you buy your next lens. Hope that helps. Best of luck! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Honestly, given the price of a used XT2, I really considered buying it, but the video features of the XT3 which could very well last me a long while, and a little thing is the headphone jack being directly on the camera instead of on the battery grip is quite good, especially for taking quick videos that require audio at the same time. Although I read that the XT2's video is still beautiful, while I have the money I might as well get the XT3 because for my use case I want to take both photos and videos I'd be satisfied with.

Hey Craig! Second message on this video, I had to change most of my gear toward Sony, for job requirements, I had a hight percentage of my photos shooting with my X-T3, so I sold the camara, I could send my X100V for higher price that the one I pay about a year ago and I bought some Sony stuff. BUT your two videos about the X-T2 were still bouncing in my head and I never published my X-T2 and I decided to keep it. I paid only $425 about tree years ago to a video guy who took really good care of the camera. This X-T2 will be for my personal photos, the Sony images are really sharp but they don't have the Fuji soul and the film vibe. I missed my Fuji Recipes of a B&W and Color film . So! I came across this video by chance and because I too have an XT2, I gave the video a chance, assuming Id be out in a few minutes, but I stayed all the way. It was authentic without hype, I like that. I bought my Xt2 new and never felt I needed to upgrade but it does have issues which annoy me. Vertical grip loses connection often. Fuji replaced it once as a curtesy but its up to its old tricks again. Very frustrating. The other issue is battery life, which explains the grip in part. But not completely, up here in the Canadian winters it gets bitterly cold and the Fuji battles just cant hack it. Nikons like D4 or D800 or D500 etc seem impervious to -30c. But enough looking back. I may very well, upgrade to a XT5 or H2. However I also have legacy glass that goes back to my Xpro1 days, and how will a 40 mp sensor render the glass of yesteryear and is it really 40mp or has it been extrapolated to mimic 40mp, this is not at all clear to me, which leaves me considering the GFX50II but at twice the money with a gain of 10 mp is it worth it, then comes glass for MF, so you can see that this becomes a deep rabbit hole in no time at all. Maybe al the more reason to just stick it out with the XT2 and the Xpro2 which is really a great travel camera when carry on is a concern, anyway dude I liked your video. Cheers 🎉

Hey! I truly appreciate you checking out the video and watching the whole thing! I feel like I should make T-shirts for people who make it through one of my long videos lol. I try to give an authentic take on these cameras and lenses so I'm happy you got that from the video. I do get what you're saying about the battery issue. Although where I live I don't have to worry about the cold, the heat is the bigger issue. The X-T5 and X-H2 seem like amazing cameras and it's inevitable I will try both of them at some point. I wonder about the 40mp sensor as well. If I upgrade it will only be one reason I do. And even if I do upgrade I'll keep another camera round that has an older sensor like the X-Trans III or IV. I really like the choices we have now. I can't wait to see what Fujifilm does with the X-Pro4. Thank you so much for watching and for your great comment!

Hey Estaban, both are great cameras. I just looked and saw some X-T2s on KEH for $568-625 (Excellent condition on up). I couldn’t find any X-T1s on KEH or UsedPhotopro.com but I saw some on MPB.com for $450-495. For me personally, I would choose the X-T2 if that price difference isn’t too big for you. For me I love the look of the images from the X-T2 and (cameras after it), especially in higher ISO settings which sometimes you might find yourself in if you shoot street photography at night. But I’ve shot some great stuff with the X-T1 so I know from experience it is more than capable. It’s a fantastic camera. I just really love the X-T2. It’s one of my favorites. But you also need to leave yourself room to purchase a lens. But you could get a TTartisan lens for $100 or so, sometimes less. It really comes down to your budget. Any idea of focal length of lens you want to try? Or do you want to get something like the 18-55mm first to learn the focal lengths? If that’s the case then maybe the X-T1 with the 18-55mm would be a great place to start then you can always upgrade down the road. Let me know if you have a total budget in mind and ideas about the lens and I’ll try to help guide you a bit more. These decisions aren’t always clear. The good news is you can’t go wrong with either camera. Love them both.

So Craig. I have followed you from the start of my Fujifilm journey. I started with the X-T1. Since then I had the X-M1, the X100 original. The X-T30, the X10. Now I only have the X-T30 II which I love. I wanted to go smaller for travel. Now I feel I am missing the larger bodies 😢. I am stuck between the X-T2 and the X-H1. The X-T2 is cheaper used but the X-H1 is calling me for some reason. If you had to pick just one of these two. What would it be. For context I don’t shoot video. Never have and won’t. Doesn’t interest me. 😊

Hey Justin! That's awesome you have the X-T30 II! I still want to pick one of those up someday. As far as which one I would pick between the X-T2 and X-H1, I would choose the X-H1 if I could only have one. There's something about that camera that no others have matched quite yet, to a certain extent, even the X-T4 falls short. It's not about the numbers on the spec sheet necessarily. It's build quality + features. I know its video features were touted when it was released. Those are nice but to me it's one of the nicest Fujifilm cameras to shoot stills with. Not everyone likes the larger body and grip though. So I can't speak for everyone but I love the design and ergonomics. As you know I keep buying cameras to try them out and talk about them on this channel and I'm at that point where I currently have 4 cameras but I need to trim down again. The X-H1 is staying for sure. I hope this helps! Let me know what you end up doing. Thank you for your continued support! It's great appreciated.

I've been keeping an eye out for fujifilm cameras on the used market, and so far, the the full sizw X-T bodies seems to represent the best value. I don't know why, but smaller bodies tends to have their price a little bit creeped up, and the X-Pro line is like almost a scam is certain occasions. In France, the absolute cheapest Fuji you can find is the X-M1 and the X-E1 that both sits around the 150 euro mark. then you'd find the X-T10 and X-E2 around the 250 euro, then X-T1 between 250 and 300 depending on the condition of the camera. And let's just say that the X-T1 is a much better value than both of the smaller X-Trans II cameras (weather sealing, better EVF, UHS II card slot, better ergonomics, etc). The X-Pro 1 is more expensive then the X-T1 for some odd reason, sitting around the 350/400 euro mark, while not providing any advantage over the X-E1, even some downgrades (the viewfinder doesn not have any diopter correction, and the corection lenses are either super expensive or not there at all). Almost a scam as I said. For X-Trans III cameras, the most affordable one is definitely the X-E3, sitting around 400/450 euro, but really if you compare that to the X-T2 thats not even a competition. I bought my X-T2 for 480, and you can regularly find one in decent shape around 500 euros. The AF is decent, image quality is outstanding and the vertical grip option + double SD slots allows you to have a capable camera if you want to earm a lil bit of money with photography. For some reason, I haven't been able to find any X-T20 below 600 euros. The X-Pro 2 follows the X-Pro 1's path, I havent's been able to find one below 700 euros. To be fair though, the X-Pro 2 is a fine camera even if there is a lot of downgrades compared to the X-T2 (no 4K recording, no grip, one of the SD slots is UHS-I, no tilt screen and the EVF though decent, is a joke compared to the X-T2's. At least there's a diopter now.) The trend continues for the X-Trans IV cameras as well. You can find an X-T3 below 700, an X-T4 below 1000 but all other cameras offer way less and are still just as expensive, especially the X-T30 and X-E4. ONly exception being the X-S10 that you can find under 650 in some cases. In short : Best value cameras second hand are the X-E1, X-T1, X-T2, X-T3 and X-T4. Feels wrong as those were the most expensive

Thank you for that break down! I love hearing about price details from other parts of the world. It does sound to me that the X-T1,2,3 & 4 are great values there! They've been my favorite cameras overall. I do enjoy the smaller cameras but really, the X-T1,2 & 3 specifically are not that big. They are pretty small in general. The X-T4 is noticeably thicker and heavier than the others but I still love it and don't mind the added weight. Thank you for watching and for your feedback! Much appreciated.

There was the X-Pro1, than the X-E1, and than the X-E2, from which the X-T1 inherited a massive amount of features, including the X-Trans II. I still own and use my X-T1, X-T2, bought new, and my X-H1, also bought during the fire sale with grip and batteries for $999. I doubt I'll ever sell any of them. All of them weather sealed, course I always end up in the rain somehow. Or in the snow. Or in the sand storm. You get the picture. Didn't upgrade yet, I have no reason to, with exception that I'm eying the X100V, which would come handy as a "pocket rocket" camera...
