Fujifilm X-H1 a very professional camera

The X-H1 is now blessed with IBIS; does this make it the best choice for your professional needs?

Thanks. It was a long wait for Fujifilm to bring out IBIS. I really appreciate IBIS these days!

Welcome back; I look forward to more optics and cigars. As regards this video: I find it intriguing that, with a few exceptions, the Full Frame, APS-C and Micro 4/3 formats are becoming closer in overall size and weight. Several years ago, the difference between the formats, as regards overall size, was more noticeable.

morphie12 I agree. Perhaps the increase in size is to contain the heat generated by the inclusion of 4k video and/or the IBIS. That noted, the perceived quality of the images fro 1" to full-frame are coming surprisingly close to one another. I am using a 1" sensor a lot more of the time. Unless I need to enlarge it, I use a smaller sensor these days!

Enjoy the video ,my preference is individual camera when I am reading the evaluation and not a comparison unless that’s what the title states. When I am reading about the Canon 1D Mark four are Canon 5D Mark III. I go to the pacific video on the product I want to review and not a comparison with others models. I’ve been up thank you for your video very informative.

I sold my XT1 and now I’m using XPRO 2. When the XH1 goes down a bit (I’m thinking when the XT3 comes out) I’ll get one to compliment my Pro2. Same gen sensor means easy work flow and paired with my 16-23-35 1.4s and my 56 1.2 it lets me do almost any job in a small bag. Might treat myself to the 90mm f2 or the 200 f2 when it comes out

Thanks! and I take your criticism of the audio without offense. I just don’t have a great radio voice and I don’t maintain a consistent audio strength. I try to balance in post, but it doesn’t help all that much. Maybe I need to practice with some pro help . . . :)

What is your thought on Nikon z6/7?

Hi PhotoZen, I haven't tried, nor will I, the Nikon Z mirrorless cameras. If you are in it for the long term and don't mind waiting for lenses to be introduced, or you plan to use a converter with current Nikon lenses, the Nikon should be a good choice. That said, I prefer not to use converters and Fujifilm has a very encompassing, high-quality lens line at very competitive prices. A lot depends on your intended use and how many lenses you will need.

I don't shoot fuji, but I really like what they do, but again, one can but the d7200 for half the price and more, and get the same IQ (Don't care about video) and half leftover money to buy a really great lens or two. Again is it Fuji worth it, regarding only IQ...

xMotivationFix I wish I knew what you "really like" but I am going to guess the controls. Thats what I really like. As far as the price is concerned, if you handle a Nikon and Fujifilm side-by-side, you can decide which one feels like it is worth it. I like Nikon; I used to use them exclusively. Nikon has some APS-c lenses with good IQ and/or sharpness, but they tend to be the most expensive in the line. Almost all of the Fujifilm lenses are rated highly, but they aren't much cheaper than Nikon's best lenses. The Nikon is a sophisticated plastic/carbon fiber body, and the Fujifilm is Magnesium. Feel the Nikon lenses you like, and compare them to the Fujifilm. Many of the less-expensive Nikon lenses are plastic or a composite. Nikon has used plastic lens mounts that can become problematic with super-telephoto lenses. It depends on how you use your camera. Nikon may be entirely sufficient and a great value. I'm not trying to tell you what to use; only to help you notice the differences so you can pick what suits you.

You contradicted yourself, you said that the Fuji is a bit smaller, then said that there's a size advantage to the Fuji. Surely you meant that there's a slight disadvantage to the Fuji because it's a bit too small, unlike the D7xxx cameras which are nearly perfect size-wise, though not actually perfect, for that you need the slightly larger D500. Yes, I'm being slightly sarcastic but you really shouldn't state categorically that something has an advantage due to its size or ergonomics, because size and ergonomics cannot be quantified in such a way, they are very much dependant on individual preference. I think the X-H1 would be far superior to the X-T2 and X-T3 for me, due to the size and ergonomics being better for me, but you've demonstrated that it would still be inferior to my D7200 which, in turn, is inferior to my D500 in those regards. When people say "is better" or "has an advantage", they should be provable or quantifiable things, not just a matter of personal preference. Like dynamic range, which can be tested and provable, or shutter speed, buffer size, AF speed etc, these can all be tested and proven to be better or worse. Size and ergonomics cannot.

"Fujifilm is a bigger camera company than Canon." Clown comment

"This (camera) has outstanding optics for the price"? What do you mean? Optics are generally the lenses which are system wide and can be mounted on any FUji camera... I also would not call a camera "Pro" - it is the useage that makes it pro or not. If someone uses gear for making money, it is professional use. I bet a large portion of all pro photographers uses FF cameras, not crop.

Bernard Ess You have some valid points. If you research the Fujifilm lenses you will find the tests show that compared to other APS-c format cameras, the Fujifilm lenses tend to be rated very highly, with high IQ and sharpness. There are of course reasons. Fujifilm does not make entry-level lenses for their cameras; they offer moderately fast lenses that are very sharp and built like a truck. Most amateur camera makers make several entry-level lenses and a good, cheap kit lens or two that are just okay, and also make some pro oriented lenses. Fujifilm's kit lenses are not cheap, but they are much better than most kit lenses and are oriented towards a discriminating photographer to appreciate the difference. Again, check the techs that rate this stuff in a lab. Finally, based upon statistic these days, wedding and portrait photographers dominate the professional level, and women shoot much of the wedding photography. I think you will find APS-c is the most prolific if you visit WPPI conventions, etc. There are many full-frame shooters and even some medium format shooters (although medium-format seems to be more common in studio photography), but they certainly do not establish the full-frame or the medium-format as the "professional" choice.

You really need to do something with your audio. Whenever I click your video for the interesting subjects you're covering, the poor audio quality tells me this video doesn't deserve watching because the publisher doesn't seem to care how it sounds what he tells in his own video. I'm leaving this comment not because to be disrespectful to you but because I've so many times clicked to watch your video but given up because of your audio. You've been quite persistent making all these interesting camera review videos which I'm also interested. You better realize what is going on when people try watching your video but give up. I'm pretty sure all your video reviews deserve more than this condescending comment from some idiot. If you don't know how to solve your audio issue, please get some help from other video guys who I'm pretty sure you know a lot of them considering your expertise on the camera. I wish, next time I happen to click your video, I could hear clear audible voice. Good luck
