Hi Patrick,The X-E4 came out during the pandemic and supply chains became very constrained which affected both the x100V and its interchangeable lens portable counterpart, the X-E4. With the advent of the 40 megapixel sensor and Fuji's use of putting the same sensor in all the camera lines, it was inevitable that they would have to stop production as the newer cameras were released. I also, believe that if the X-Pro 4 is the next camera up then that will be their sales focus. Lesser expensive lines will be a distraction. However, if it is the X-S 20 then that says they will be serious about courting the vlog market and competing with all the new hybrid cameras which seems to be very profitable. If that happens the X-E5 will be at least a year away if they want to maintain their lineup as they have previously posted.

If it were up to me, and of course it isn't, I would continue with the XE line and drop the XT(10,20,30) SLR styled cameras. With the advent of the XS small bodied camera, I think a small bodied rangefinder style would be more interesting.

I'm really disappointed I didn't buy an XE4 when I could have. It was really the only really compact camera in the Fuji line-up that I could've either treated it as an X100V with a compact prime for street shooting, or use with a couple of other specific lenses for landscapes/travel or portraits. It kind of flew under my radar until it was too late.

X-E4 is discontinued. X100v, X-T30 II, and X-S10 are, once again, backordered forever. The only Fuji cameras you can buy are the X-T5 and the X-H models. So if a new user wants a Fuji camera, they have to shell out about $2000. This is a terrible strategy. Every manufacturer has sub-$1000 entry level cameras to attract beginning photographers. They buy the camera, buy a few lenses, and then when it's time to upgrade, they are motivated to stay with the same brand.. Cameras are a small part of the Fuji Heavy Industries family.. I wonder if they are moving toward dropping camera production altogether.

@@random6809 I understand that, and a grip would be fine with me, even a plus. Once a lens is attached, the grip doesn't really add to the volume. I know a grip wouldn't fit with the rangerfinder aesthetic that some are looking for, but my own interest is in the functionality of a camera that is unobtrusive to use and fits in a small bag.

@bartholomew cubbins a grip DOES fit with rangefinder aesthetic. There have been tuns of legendary rangefinder cameras with them, some even designed by Fujifilm. I would love the trigger shutter button in the grip with everything else the same as the X-Pro 2, except lacking OVF, same EVF as XH2s, same internals across the board as XH2s.... Though it would be incredible to see a new lower mp BSI sensor. 20-22 would be enough megapixels.

The E3 was my first Fuji. I liked it so much I bought an E1 and E2s. I wanted the E4 to round out the set, but waited too long to buy it. I also have an H1. I wanted all the good things about my X-E camera with some features from my XH1. I wanted a small camera for travel, IBIS, good video and better battery life. I just bought the X-S20 and it checks all the boxes, plus has some extra features. I'm not sure where Fuji can go with the X-E. To me, they'd have to bring it in at $900.00 or less because they just can't offer some things in that form factor that are offered in the S-20. Even if they could make the X-E5 and sell it at $900 or less, I think I'd still spend a little more and go with the S-20. I'd rather have the conventional dial layout over PASM, but I can't justify paying for nostalgia. Anyway, though I have the S-20 now, my X-E cameras aren't going anywhere. The H1 is a different story.

True, Fujifilm could have sold a ton of X-E4 and X-100V cameras if only they were available to purchase! If the X-E5 is released would we actually be able to buy one? On the other hand, the X-T4, X-H2, X-H2S, X-T5 have always been in stock, available and in plentiful supply.

The market is probably just too thin to fund running design and production for concurrent lines for EVF placement top and corner. I think there has been a tendency amongst the removable lens users to assume that they are entirely immune from the carnage which has almost entirely wiped out the fixed lens camera side. It is more amazing with the drop in volumes of camera sales that there are still so many players still battling it out in what is left of the market.

I got back into photography via the X-e2 with the "kit" 18-55 f/2.8 to 4. I loved that setup. Shot with it almost every day. Then I sold it and got the X-Pro-2. Absolutely hated that camera so much I missed my X-e2 almost every day. Fuji has always been a bit "quirky" but the Pro with it's ergonomics, tiny LCD, and that horribly fiddly shutter speed/ISO combo dial drove me nuts.. so I sold it. The thing I miss most are the Fuji primes. Not as convenient as a zoom, but the Fuji bodies really don't support large lenses. If I could find a used X-e3 or new X-e4 I would be very tempted to dump my current rig (Canon R6) and go back to Fuji. The only reason I might not is that Fuji do not seem to have a clear path forward.

I can't understand why Fuji has doubts about the future of X-E line!! For me it dosn't matter if it's considerated as an entry level, my X-E4 is almost the perfect camera for me. I really liked the evolution from X-E3, I came from nikon F2 and I don't understand the problems about grip that a lot of people where blaiming, specially talking about a extremely lightweight camera. I'm begging for a XE-5 with the same design and concept (if it has the new sensor it would be great but not indispensable) and I only pray for a viewfinder designed for being used (not more resolution, just a little bit bigger and having the possibility of mounting different eyecups because I don't like to use the screen), it woud be wonderful if it where sealed (wr) and the rotation of the screen would allow to hide it to protect because I only use it for checking settings. Nothing else. I love its dimensions and I don't miss more buttons or dials. I'm aware that a lot of people have more requirements but there's another lot of people that loves that camera regarding the prices of the second hand market. Is not always a question of money, I'd rather a XE-4 than a X-Pro even though I'm aware of advantages of X-Pro (I have a Voigtländer so I know about optical viewers but is not necessary for me). I'm sure I'm not the only one that prays for not underrate as a minor camera!!

In Switzerland, where I live, the X-E4 is still available. I had the X-E1 with arguably the best sensor Fuji ever produced and I'm still using the X-E3. As for the X-E4 it's a gorgeous little camera and a perfect backup for my X-Pro3. I love its simplicity and minimalistic design. The problem is it is a little too minimalistic for some, especially the enthusiasts and the beginners, and the X-Pro3 itself is controversial with its backscreen. The X-Pro and the X-E lines now walk hand in hand so I wouldn't expect a X-E5 before we get the X-Pro4 anyway. Now will this line survive? I'm not sure as I'm not sure we'll have a X-T50. I think the X-T and X-Pro and X-H lines, on top of the large sensor lines, should be enough and the way to go for Fujifilm in the years to come, maybe with the exception of a X-S line to go with the X-H line, at least for a while. The market has changed dramatically and what was a good idea 10 years ago may not be as relevant in 2023 and in the near future. Actually I think we should be thankful to Fujifilm, under the circumstances, that they keep making cameras and so many different models

Cameras like XD2 or Q proves there are solid demands for stylish EVF camera like that. This is something mobile phone can't compete with and yet they just keep ignoring that.

I think, the best slogan for Fujifilm, would be: "Being in dreams is more important than being on stock". But seriously - it's a shame for not giving X-E4 a chance to become more or less successful due to constantly being out of stock. They can't blame pandemic for that: other companies released new models during that time and successfully delivered them to retailers. By the way, X-E4 is not only the model Fujifilm is struggling to manufacture. Another reason, why Fujifilm didn't give a chance to E series to become successful, is too simplified ergonomics: that tiny joystick could be bigger and placed in more convenient to reach place, 1-2 extra buttons as well as 1 extra dial would make user experience much better. Anyway, it's a shame on Fujifilm, for total failure and inability to fix manufacturing issues and unwillingness to accept and improve its own mistakes. I bet, instead of making camera better and fixing manufacturing issues they will just cancel the whole E series (and probably even some others). In fact - X-E4 is already quite good camera and all it needs is just some "polishing" and "love" mentioned above.

@@random6809 In my opinion, it was a mistake. Smartphone users just use smartphones and don't even understand why real cameras are needed. They don't even know that such company as Fujifilm exists let alone X-E4. However - compact, stylish and still powerful camera like X-E4 could attract attention of people who understand photography and for some reason need a camera like X-E4 but not such extremely simplified in terms of buttons and dials. Not to mention that even current tiny joystick could have been placed in more convenient place.

@@FuckKZreadForHandles It is the their own Asian market that Fuji aimed it at. They wanted a compact ILC that smartphone users there would upgrade to. I am sure Fuji understand their own market. Had there not been COVID and then supply issues I believe the X-E4 would have been a great success for Fuji in 2022/3 on the back of the 100V sales.

@@random6809 I wouldn't blame COVID for Fuji supply issues. Other manufacturers introduced and successfully delivered new models to retail market. It's been already quite a long time since restrictions have been lifted, but supply issues still persist, and I'd say became even worse than during COVID times. I suspect that it's not really manufacturing and supply issues, but rather something else going on in the company. Probably, heavy losses which made them to revise entire models' line, to cut production and keep only a couple of models that sell more or less ok. I wouldn't expect any good news from Fuji as their "supply issues" look like something completely different to me.

@@FuckKZreadForHandles It clearly is supply issues. They are unable to meet demand. Are you seriously suggesting that a company would not produce more cameras like the X100V when demand is so high?

First your home area is beautiful! You should have a direct communication line to Fujifilm Japan (and if not you should create one as you collect a lot of data on Fujifilm users and so they should include your data in their marketing study) and tell them the fact that the XE4 was almost never in stock and so how could it sell!? As a side note I want to say that their choice to make this weirdo back LCD on the xpro 3 was a bad decision from my viewpoint…Also may be they can make a cheaper xe5 as Fujifilm line start at €1000….Nikon Canon make a bit cheaper entry level cameras…In all cases thank a lot for your job on FR! For me the line can die. Since they shrunk it down from the XE2S size it has become next to useless; f2 lenses and pancakes yes, but anything bigger and it's practically unusable. Film nostalgia is dying as the generations recycle, so stick with the X-Sxx line, a fantastic little all -in-one as the entry level into the system, the X-T line for retro-style hybrid lovers, the X-H line for heavy duty daily pro work and the X-Pro line for the street and analogue nostalgia. Special edition X-Pros can help fund the other lines plus R&D. The X100x line is a little different but overlaps the X-E line a fair bit with its capabilities.

My 100-300 is fine on it, so I have no idea what you are talking about re: next to useless. The X-Sxx line does not have the EVF on the left and is PASM, the X-T line has the EVF position issue too. The X100x line isn't "a little different" it has a fixed lens! It clearly is not aimed at you. The great thing about Fuji is you get what YOU want from a body.

@@random6809 I started with the X-E line and was forced away when they shrank it. I think you might manage to get over a centrally positioned EVF don't you? (How on earth do left-eye dominant shooters manage FFS...) The XE4 and the 100-400 must be the worst ergo experience in mirrorless, and that zoom would benefit the most from IBIS which of course you lack. If you use a tripod then it's a back-screen job.. out of all of the available Fuji system bodies I really can't imagine how you came up with that pairing and chose the body with the least grip of them all! Duh!

@@34136TS One of the reasons for getting the X-E was because of the EVF position compared to my dSLR. Left eye shooters use their left eye as it would be no different to using a centrally positioned EVF on another model!
