I have the EF-20 and use it as a pocketable carry flash with my X100 or X-T5. It's great for the basics when you just need some fill in flash etc. Kind of like a more deluxe version of an on camera flash.

0:36 Used this for years so it’s durable. Indicator of ready is a flash icon in viewfinder or LCD. Draws power from cam battery so agreed on flash recharge time. However I use it at likely 1/64 or 1/128 power to recharge time is quick.

Thanks Ely. I’ve used the ex-8 as a catchlight/fill flash for some messing around and it did ok but certainly was not up to more serious shooting. How do you like the 350? I’ve been contemplating the R2/V1 for awhile. I run a 685f with a propac and that pac turns it into a total beast if I want to do some bursting. Trying to decide if I want to go with a second flash or a smaller AD100/200 for a somewhat “portable” light to bring along that can keep up with the 685 when on the battery pack. Is the R2 fast? How many full power blasts can it do before it has to recycle? 685 with battery pack does 2 quick then needs a second.

He Matt, I just use the R2 for the dance floor at weddings and my assistant uses the TT350. They both work pretty good. The R2 is amazing but I only use it on 1/128th so it will last 5+ weddings and recycles non stop. I've never tried it on full power. I use constant video lights for all of my commercial work and headshots.

I read in some reviews that the flash will sleep if it hasn't been used in 60 seconds... is this true?

Hi, thanks for the review. No offence, but you look old enough to know that in the good days all flashes had that sound. If it needs time to recharge you don´t have to get the camera down to see any green lights. When the sound is gone you are ready for the next shot. Is a feature, not a bug. a Of course if you are used to the actual high end studio flashes, that are in the background you can shoot burst with a flash at all times .... but was not the idea to look for a travel set ?!?! Cheers
