Fugue in E minor
This is my 5th attempt at writing a good fugue. Consisting of two themes, this is probably the best fugue I've written so far. Sorry for the bad video quality, wanted to save time while rendering. This is played by Musescore, because I have a bad habit of making pieces way too hard for my current capabilities. I set the tone to 432 Hz so it would sound more "classical." Make sure to like and subscribe to enter my totally real free Fortnite gift card give-away!!!
The next piece I am going to post will be Waltz No. 1 (such creative name, i know). This is going to take about 3 weeks, maybe more, maybe less. I am still trying to learn the first couple of bars. If you are inpatient, don't worry, I am also a slow learner.
Also, Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II

I love how you got the comically large “Fuga” on the title that you see on every baroque piece sheet music

I love it! It's about as authentic as you can get for a baroque/classical fugue. The ending is splendid! The real beauty behind your music is, it's so natural, God-given. Sometimes I take this as a test: if it sounds halfway decent as a MIDI recording, you know it is a good piece of music and is only waiting for a real performance to bring out the true reality of it. The recording in this video passed the test.

Chico, eres impresionante.

I appreciate very much of your compliment and your time to write this comment! I translated your comment, so there might be some misunderstanding. I just learn from Bach, his philosophy and his ways of composing. I also listen to a lot of his music so I can get the "Bach style" in my head. But please don't be discouraged by your music. Like many people I also find many flaws in my music. I used to be terrible at composing, then I learned how to get better and I improved and I believe that you can too!
First theme im the spirit of fuge from p&f in g minor from wtc II, awesome voice leading, beautiful harmony and very clear fuge form. I can hear some ideas from fuge from Toccata BWV 911 in c minor 6:00. But i love it. This fuge is much better than my composirions.

My congratulations on writing such a large scale and complex fugue with excellent development, a wealth of invention and I know the concentration it takes to write a fugure of any length. Hats off! @@LepusCompositions I have found that to be the case...I woke up one morning and a theme was running through my head and I heard it in canon and I went down and wrote it down and it ended up being the 4th theme of the finale of my string symphony. And it worked perfectly as a canon. The 2nd theme of the Adagio of the symphony came to me when I was stacking wood....at any rate your 2nd theme comes in a just the time when some contrast is needed. Is good. The second theme is weird and chromatic in a good way. Some constructive criticisms: (1) I heard some parallel fifths and parallel octaves here and there. For example, the first bar of the second "page," the top and bottom voice are both moving from B to E in parallel octaves, and 11 bars from the end, in the lower stave, the bottom two voices are also moving in parallel octaves and then parallel fifths int he same measure. There were some other instances also. It jumped out to my ear as breaking the sense of independence of voices. (2) It's supposed to be a four-voice fugue, but there aren't really any extended passages of four-voice counterpoint. It's usually three voices, and even when there are four voices, usually one of them is being pretty inactive. If you're going to write a four-voice fugue, then don't have one of the voices drop out or play a pedal point which undermines the effect. (3) Your episodes seem a bit predictable. I get that your setting up sequences, but try to vary it so it's not so obvious that you're moving up the scale or along the circle of fifths. Add some variation the patterns or throw in a spicy harmony or something to keep it from sounding too formulaic. But overall seems to me a good effort.

Thank you very much for the constructive criticisms, I will take all that into consideration when writing future fugues :) I wrote this in two days and used an extra day to revisit it before posting which might explain the parallels that I missed ... probably should've taken a longer time considering my skills at that time. For the voices, I just did not want to have the four voices constenty yelling at me and it would also be more time-consuming to learn if every messure all have four complicated voices, not to mention drowning out the subject when there is one. I think it would work better with slower fugues such as some of the contrapunctuses from the Art of Fugue, but this is faster and more showy, so it lessens on the contrapunctal side. Anyways, thanks again, and now I have to do my math homework ... uhhh
@Danielpi

@@LepusCompositions Sure, that makes some sense, but in that case-if it were me-I'd just let it be a fugue in three voices rather than 3.25 voices. Why insist on making it four voices if you don't like the four-voice texture? I think four is not generally too dense to make out the counterpoint on the piano, but it's totally an aesthetic decision.
I hope Bach hears your composition, for he is now where the music is born.

Hello! Its good to see someone wanting to start composing! Composing takes a long time to get good, and even now, I am not even sure whether I can be classified as "good" or not. For me, I think a good way to start is to write in the Baroque style a little. You try to understand the different harmonies, how to modulate, how voices work, and voice leading. Remember, that when you are composing, the intuition to know what to do is important, and that only comes with practice and learning from previous Greats! So yeah, I hope that was helpful :D
Lovely harmonic twists at the end. Wonder fugue! Was the first subject inspired by the famous fugue in RV 565 by Vivaldi (one of the concerti Bach transcribed)?

This is a skillful piece of writing,... however it feels a bit like a frantic climb up the down escalator, or maybe trying to descend the up escalator,... there is a lack of coherent voice leading that makes the musical journey feel purposeful. Rather incredible that You did this in two days,.. but perhaps You could have done more with a few satisfactory voices, and some resoundingly nice interplay of between them. The ending is a lot of fun,... keep working at Your fugue writing, You have loads of native talent!
