In 1998, Fugees came to a small venue in Tempe Arizona called Chompies. Place didn't hold many people. Not only did the Fugees put on an amazing show, they actually lit blunts, took some hits, then handed them out to the crowd to hit and pass while we just jammed. One of the best nights of my life.

All due respect to the artistry of Praz & Wyclef - but for me, it was the Queen Lauryn Hill who made this group! I was a little girl who could relate to her looking up to her wanting to be like her... She enforced my pride as a Blk girl who she represented so well...She was so fly, cooling on them in her own lane, pretty with her own natural coily hair, masterpiece face, petite frame, smooth brown skin, stylish, swagged out, talented soul who can rap AND sing - nun could touch Lauryn... Legendary 💯🔥

Honestly, one of the greatest single songs of the last 50 years... all time... Fu-Gees have a small catalog and made an ATOMIC IMPACT. The catchy, seamless flowwhether rapping or singing (*which they transition between with effortless beauty*) is so good it's nearly hypnotic.... seriously, they come across sounding so casual and effervescent, you forget you're bobbing your head and before long singing along with a group that LITERALLY SOUNDED LIKE NOTHING EVER BEFORE THEM. Together with Lauryn's solo record, these are 25 or so tracks that were so groundbreaking, and completely original that it RESET THE WHOLE LANDSCAPE OF HIP HOP FOR EVERYTHING AFTER. The Fugees were able to incorporate Marley's pop-reggae vibes and East Coast/NYC lyrical bops and patterns together with subtle but powerful R&B backing tracks and singing, whether choosing to find that groove in their hooks, choruses and reprises, or to deceptively switch to singing right between their 16 bars of hip hop storytelling. Every thing they did was as catchy and endlessly listenable as it was POWERFUL AND GAME-CHANGING. They gave the Rythym and Blues world a literal Blueprint of how to rap... they are the damn Beatles.

I feel sorry for anyone who missed the '90s. It was such a great time to be alive. This song takes me right back to those days. I can almost be there for a split second and heart feels warm and calm. The world wasn't perfect back then but it was perfect for me. I don't feel the same now. I know that things are always evolving and changing but the world has gotten empty and dark something that wasn't there before. I miss these days terribly and then my heart aches to go back in time. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Very true. My parents had their era in the 70s and at least we had our era in the 90s to brag about unlike today's youth. 😔 We knew how to have fun, interact with one another, the parties and clubs were nonstop and we didn't frighten so easily.We were stronger mentally. It wasn't perfect, true but then again, real perfection doesn't exist in this world. It was still GREAT nonetheless!! We can always hang on to our memories which is our personal time machine.

Back when there was laughs & peace with these talented 3 being together. A rare moment in time.

@@timothyjn100 It's you that is 'out of touch' if not wearing a bra is actually a statement in your mind... "the world around you" is taking your brain for a loop. The choice of not wearing a bra is not and should never be a statement, it's free choice, free will... things that should be 'as is'.

To me, the break-up of the Fugees was a saddest moment in music history they changed the game on how people listen to music. And honestly why I love this song and this video is because they're having fun like nowadays music videos are so rehearsed down to the t like it's not sincere to me. In this video, they're smiling because music is their only enjoyment. Anyway, I'm not going to be one those people who say music is shit today but I feel like it does lack the sincerity that makes an artist an artist.

+Hannah Obsiye Great Hip hop group but didn't really change the game. Not really sad, only thing Fugees brought other than great hip hop was Lauryn Hill. Wutang and NWA are hip hop groups that changed the game.
@luckyshow98

Their fusion of reggae and cultures did change the game. Added a new flavour, when I mean "changing the game" it doesn't neccesarily meaning changing Hip-Hop but just creating new styles furthering the genre. Hip hop seems to be in standstill, nothing new.

Z autentycznością, to ona nie ma nic wspólnego. Zasłynęła z krytykowania Kościoła Katolickiego za rzekome przestępstwa podatkowe, a sama kilka lat później trafiła za przestępstwa podatkowe do więzienia.

She can sing and rap. Tell me as a female who can do that and make hits after hits. Lauryn Hill is UNDERRATED in the music business.
90's music will be forever. I showed my son Fugees, De la soul, Naughty by nature, A tribe called quest and many more and he start to understand why we call this the golden era of hip hop. That is the problem with new artist these days, it feels like they release music just to release music. Generaly speaking, they will be forgotten in the next 10-20 years. That is the difference between the classics we grew up listening.
hip hop seemed to have a purpose back then
It's crazy how many people come back to it every day...this song is a masterpiece!
