Lyrics:
Everyone wants to be a cowboy
Grab your guns boy
Forty-five by my side,
No the n***er dies.
Zen, zen zen zen zen zen zen
You shot your bullet, but the bullet when ****
Desperado, do work for new boy
I pull out my gun and plug two like Trugoy
Yo this was how the West was won,
Our motto, a true Desperado.
Rappers want to be actors
So they play the Jesse James Character
And get they bones fractured.
You ain't got no guns, you off to the precinct
Inside tuff guys are feminine like Sheena Easton
Woman cry, woman cry, Son still dies
Thrown off the building like the Fall guy
Caved in the grave cause you didn't know how to behave
Playin' cowboy now you sleep with the slaves

One of the illest things about the 90's were the distinct voices rappers had. Young Zee's voice was so unique. Now a days every rapper has the same 3 tones.

"The score" stays true to its name! But it's not only Wyclef this thing is about! One, if not "the best" Hip Hop album of decade or at last "ever"?! I searched this thing almost 20 years to hold it in my hands as a CD. But my sister put it on a superior level by by give it to me as a vinyl! Never heard an album that perfect and balanced... Fugees in our hearts, never forgotten, always appreciated!

"You shot your bullet but the bullet went" "Rappers want to be actors so they play the Jesse James character and get their bones fractured" "You ain't got no guns you off to the precinct inside tough guys are feminine like Sheena Easton" "Thrown off the building like the fall guy" These are indirect disses from Wyclef to 2 PAC. The Fugees were affiliated with Haitian Jack and Jimmy Henchman who 2 Pac had beef with. Jimmy was the one behind the first shooting at Quad studios in New York. First of all, Wyclef is making fun of 2 Pac shooting himself in the first line. The next Wyclef is basically saying Pac is a fake Jesse James. Jesse James was an Outlaw in the 1800s and Pac referred to himself as an Outlaw. The following line Wyclef calls Pac a snitch who doesn't have guns. Basically calling him a fake thug. And in the last line, Wyclef is making fun of Pac getting thrown off the building in Juice.

The back and forth. many talented MCs the whole track is fire. No wack verse everyone is on topic... The Fugees was one and remains one of the best hip-hop groups ever. The full The Score album is a masterpiece and should be studied. for content, ideas, music, style, etc... You can't and won't find this type of audio nowadays. We need a FUGEE biopic.

The sheer and apparent truth is that music cannot re-assume this status. Three key things stick out at you in this song... ONE The flow,TWO The alignment of verses is VERY specific and THREE The combination of personalities. Massive. For me, Lauryn and Rah launched the electricity while Forte just silenced it with the crescendo. This is the absolute level of professionalism that you need to understudy in what true Hip Hop should be... sadly, that coordination is missing today. Great song!!

John Forte'!!! for those that dont know the last rapper, but also one of the great producers of the Fugees!! IDK why he wasn't just a full member!! He is so underrated & before his time & One of the best lyricist on here & in their camps, besides Lauryn!! & he plays guitar & sings now smh They need to come back with an album with John Forte' as an officially band member of the Fugees.
