Tnx a lot, I'm doing a trobleshooting on my Astro -95 AWD right now. It has used too much gasolin for a long time now, and last year it has also misfired and gone real bad often. And now it's hard to start, it explode in exos... and suspect something wrong w fuelsystem. Nice to start here w u'r video for an understanding how it works, and what I might have to do and take it together.... :D

Greetings...Robert S - Norway.........You're welcome, and, thanks for watching.........I've actually gone, even further than this video, because, the fuel pressure regulator (that was, a separate part, at the time), that I installed, started to leak really bad, and flooded the engine...!!!.........So, I replaced the whole, fuel injection spider unit, that, already had, a new fuel pressure regulator on it...........I also replaced the nylon fuel lines (sometimes called the "nut kit").........I also removed the lower intake manifold, and replaced the (lower) intake manifold gaskets, because, I've heard, that, when they get older, they will probably start leaking air, causing a vacuum leak (2 of them, 1 on each side of the lower intake manifold, where the lower manifold, mates up with, the cylinder heads)..........The order that I had to do this in, once it was apart, was to first, replace the lower intake manifold gaskets, and then, install the lower intake manifold...then...install the fuel injection spider...then...install the "nut kit" (nut kit = nylon fuel lines)....then...on went the gasket, that goes between, the upper and lower manifold halves, and then, install the upper manifold (half), onto the lower intake manifold...then...re-install, all of the other stuff..........My engine, now starts, so quick, and seems to have power, like it's brand new...!!!...and look Ma, my foot, is barely pushing down on the gas pedal anymore, and, I also have to go easy too, or I'll end up doin', the bobble head...what-sha-ma-call-it...routine...!!!...lol..........Those poppet nozzles (that kinda work, like spring loaded, ball bearing valves), that are on the ends of, those 6 black nylon fuel lines, that are also connected to the main fuel injection (spider) body, have to be, shall we say, hospital clean, so to speak, because, if, one or more of them, are the least bit dirty, then, some of the engine's cylinders, will probably be getting less gasoline (spray), than, some of the other cylinders are getting (think in terms of fuel balance, as in, each cylinder, getting the same amount of gasoline spray, as, all of the other cylinders are getting)...........I can park my mini-van, for a week or more, and then, just turn the ignition key, and..."it starts up right away"..."immediately"...no kidding...!!!.........If this type of engine runs too rich, the oxygen sensor (only 1 of them, on this year...1995), will probably get coated, with a dry looking, black carbon coating, and, it usually messes up the oxygen sensor, and it seems to me, that, the engine runs richer, then, even richer and richer, until the problem gets fixed properly.........Just look inside of, the end of your tail-pipe (engine Not running), and look for, lots of dry black carbon, that will usually indicate, a rich running condition..........If the engine misfires really bad, then, raw fuel can make its way, right into the catalytic converter, and, if there is enough raw gasoline going through it, be very careful, because it can overheat, and actually, start to glow an orange color, and, don't go near it, or you'll get burned, and, don't park on any tall grass, or, it will catch fire, yes, it can get that hot (maybe, not quite, red hot, but hot enough, that, it would probably catch the attention, of the fire department...!!!).........So, there you have it, my success story...but now, the question begs...how long will my success story last...until I have to fix something else on "it"...???...lol.....and......till next time......Be Safe, take care, and have a good one.

Greetings...Sebastian Mooney..........You're welcome, and, thanks for watching.........It's good to know, that, this KZread video of mine, was able to help you out.........The Haynes automotive (aftermarket) manuals, are very good, in many ways, especially for folks, that are new to, auto maintenance and repair.........I do, however, hear Ya, when it comes down to, being, shall we say, more specific (aka, focusing, in on), a certain repair procedure, where-as, the Haynes manuals, can, at times, be a bit more, general in nature/not so specific, if you will, but, for such a reasonable price, how can a person go wrong? (I do have, quite a few, of the Haynes manuals, as in, Chevrolet/GMC vans, both, full size, and mini-van too, Oldsmobile car, and Ford mustang).........Now then, here's what happened to my GMC mini-van, with this, 4.3 liter, V-6 engine........Some of my spark plugs, had quite a bit of carbon on them, so, that tells me, that, it's running too "rich" (air/fuel ratio-wise)...then, one day, I was at home, and I had the engine idling, in park, I then, started to smell, like something was "burning", so, I looked all over, then, finally, as I looked under the mini-van, on the passenger (right) side, I actually saw, that, the catalytic converter, was "glowing", a fairly bright orange color...!!!...so, I stopped the engine, really quick...!!!...lol.........That, my friend, is what can happen, if too much, raw/un-burned gasoline, starts, getting into, a catalytic converter, when the engine reaches operating temperature...!!!.........So, I replaced, just, the..."fuel pressure regulator", that only had, a small gasoline "leak" (and, not, the whole fuel injection unit/spider), and, it ran well...but...it only lasted about two years...!!!........Back then, as I was just driving along, at city speed, the engine, just went..."silent"...(just like, the ignition key was turned off)...so, I coasted over to the curb, and then, tried to restart it...it popped once or twice, then, the starter motor, wasn't able to crank the engine over anymore (battery, was still ok, but, it ended up being..."flooded" (aka, hydro-locked)...with too much gasoline...!!!.........So then..."it"...got towed home.........Once I removed the upper plenum (that's the part, that is shown, in this video), I saw, what looked like, small swimming pools of gasoline, on the passenger/right side, of the "lower" plenum/intake manifold, and was caused by, the, only about, two year old, fuel pressure regulator, who's, internal/flexable..."diaphragm"...failed miserably, which, as the way I see it, allowed fuel to exit the little hole, that's on the side of the regulator, like a..."pressure washer"...!!!...whenever, the electric fuel pump was activated, with the ignition key, when it was in, the start, or run position.........So, it's all fixed now, and starts-up..."super fast"...and also, runs as good as new, maybe better than new...!!!...lol.........I installed an..."Autoline" (brand) of..."fuel injection unit/whole spider"...that also has, a new, (and trustworthy...lol), fuel pressure regulator on it, as well as, what is called, the..."nut kit" (really strange name, for the two, white-ish colored, nylon/plastic-like, fuel tubing lines), that connects, the fuel injection unit/spider, to the metal fuel lines, that are on the outside of, the plenum (on the driver's/left side, of the engine)........So, that's my "story", and I'm stickin' to it...!!!...lol...and....till next time......Be Safe, take care, and have a good one.

Greetings....Wild Borego..........Thanks for watching.........Well, anything is possible I guess.........Just about anything, that's made out of plastic, nylon, and the like, tend to get a bit on the brittle side, when exposed to heat, cold, and old age, as I've experienced plenty of times.........Best bet, is to examine the part in question, as in, bend or twist it a bit, and, if it doesn't go..."Snap"...!!!...lol...then, it might be ok to reuse, possibly.........Aside from going...snap...crackle...or...pop...then, my other concern, would be that of, the connector (pigtail), still being able to maintain, a very good/low resistance electrical connection (oh yeah, along with, a very good mechanical connection, at the very same time, is a must have as well).........If in doubt, try to get a hold of, a "New", partial pigtail and connector, that will suit your needs, that way, You'll be good for a few years down the road, with a lot more certainty, I be thinkin'...and......till next time......Be Safe, take care, and have a good one.
