Fuel Octane Ratings Explained - Understanding Cars

In this video I look to answer the following questions: What are fuel octane ratings? What does an octane rating mean? How do you measure fuel octane ratings? Will higher octane fuel improve engine performance? Will I make more power with higher octane fuel? Why does E85 make more horsepower? Do I need to run ethanol fuel when boosting my car? Does higher octane fuel help with engine knock?
Fuel octane ratings are really important to understand when it comes to designing a car, or choosing the right fuel for your vehicle. The octane rating is essentially a measure of how much compression the fuel can withstand before auto-ignition. It is important to always use the minimum fuel octane rating recommended by your manufacturer to ensure that the car runs well. And while generally you can't make more power simply by switching to premium gas over regular unleaded, there are some cases where improved engine performance can be realized.

Hello my friend.My name is Denis I am from Russia.I bought a Nissan 370z 2015 the same as you have white and in the same configuration.I bought it at an auction in America with minimal damage.I have an open differential.I want to put an LSD for driving sideways.My choice was on the Z1 Street Pro R200 differential.What can you advise for driving in the city and drifting?Thank you for making a video about the 370Z very instructive

Question- i have 2019 f150 2.7 ecoboost v6 twin turbos. Best gas to run to get the best life, power ? Im new to this e85, e88 gas and have been running 87
most sports cars can run 91oct actually with no problems, they are just gonna pull some timing and self-adjust, for instance if you have 370z which is 330hp(its 330hp on 93), you will be around 315 on 91 oct fuel, and maybe you will get slightly less mpg with 91 compared to 93, also a lot of 200+hp cars are tuned on 91 from the factory, not on 93 like VQs

That has been my experience with the engine in my 2019 370z. I blend enough 100 octane Sunoco race gas with the 91 octane Shell to get a blended average of 93.
I'd love to see an E85 video on your Z! Zeitronix kit from Specialtyz, there isn't much content around about it (wiring mostly)

@@thecarizon504 Well I went ethanol myself, I'm really pleased running it instead of 93 because it feels safer and more powerful of course. Installation was easy and straightforward, only "hard" part is that you need to cut one wite from the ECU harness (one or two inches from the ECU). Other than that, I connected it to ACC and Eugene noticed it, he's complete genius no doubt, because we weren't discussing that and wasn't an issue I mentioned related to E85; so I re connected it to ignition this time and the car starts as easy as it was from the dealership.
