    This especially makes me sad. While she's not low on numbers, it still feels like she's underrated. I don't understand why Aki doesn't have more subs. Aki and Mel are the only ones in the first generation who didn't get a million in 5 years. It just feels wrong.

    @EntidadLibre both suffered in early visibility, which had a big impact as those (Shion, Ayame) with better visibility early on are able to ride out long breaks. They do have day jobs which complicate things some, though Mel's making a decent turn around. Aki for a time to put it simply meandered (an issue seen with Choco-sensei and Roboco) which didn't help. Midnight JST streams don't have great visibility. Her splatoon addiction didn't help either (I looked at a growth chart which showed splatoon slowed it)... I still fear a relapse But these days Choco and Aki have been showing more drive.

    Thing is, there's not a member of hololive that has anything to be ashamed of, numbers-wise. The lowest subscribed to members still have hundreds of thousands of subs and at least tens of thousands of views per stream/video. Given how KZread goes that's extremely impressive. But, true as that is, I'm sure it's still hard not to see it like that and instead see themselves as trailing behind their colleagues.

    This was exactly the thing that Kaichou said to Watame, once upon a time. Watame and Coco were having a heart-to-heart on-stream where Watame was feeling down that her singing show isn't going that well and that her numbers weren't as good as everyone else's. Coco's response was: "I think your perspective is wrong." Coco went on to say something along the lines of [heavily paraphrased]: You're comparing yourself the wrong way. You're actually amazing. There's people down here only having 1000-2000 subscribers. You have what? 200,000 subscribers (at the time)? That's amazing. You're doing fine. Just continue doing your own thing and people will keep watching you. And you know what? Watame is doing just fine.

    I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing if the numbers don't grow, especially if what you have in return is a loyal and tightly knitted community. Inflated subscription numbers that don't really convert to actual view count and engagement actually harms monetization and staying on the algorithm. Bonsai pop on yt made a video on the subject sometime last year iirc, go give it a watch if you're interested in the subject.

    Sub count in today's YT only means that at some point that many people watch your video and liked it enough to subscribe, nothing more really. If we talk about success particularly in streaming, you have to look at the concurrent viewer count. In regards to that, I think Aki is doing well especially whenever she does her "forte" streams.

  • @rade-blunner7824

    @rade-blunner7824

    The thing about sub-counts is I've always felt subscribing is easy but unsubscribing isn't. If people lose interest over time they're more likely to just not click on the videos when they appear in their feed than they are to actually bite the bullet and unsubscribe. You need to be particularly annoyed or some significant change has to happen to really drive you to push that button, so I feel the significance that's put on that number can become a little skewed over time. But yeah, average live viewer count, that's a tasty stat right there...

    Comparing subscriber counts is kind of pointless and bizarre, if you think about it at all. Imagine you're drinking coffee and someone's like "You're drinking coffee? But the world-wide tea market is 10% larger than the coffee market!" Well, so fucking what? What is that even supposed to mean?

    In their world, it's a statistic that correlates to how well they're doing in their field. Is it the only, or most important statistic to look at? No, but you can't blame them for doing so. Drinking coffee isn't a livelihood, but for them, streaming is. It's not an equal comparison at all.

    Numbers can be tricky, Because in some cases there are channels with millions of subs but that number is not reflected in viewers. It doesn't make sense for someone from 2m to have an audience of sub 10k. better put subscribers on 2nd, a Streamer is measured in live viewership. Anyway, as long they have fun

Why can't we enjoy the things we have while you're sitting with your keyboard crapping on them as if we don't exist? We also have insane things just like as your community have, and I don't mean as number of them, they are also as big as them, and when I mean this, as how they impacted on. • @captsomeguy1

    I'm guessing low and high subscribers/viewer count. Being number one in subs meant that you've became the face and flagship of the company, and everyone is expecting the quality of your work to be the best of the best. Too low and everyone's gonna be like, "Why are you so far behind everyone else?" And in the earlier days when most of them have low subs, there's pressure to increase those numbers otherwise the company might scrap the whole thing and everyone loses their job. Right now they both have a good amount of subs/views and earning good money, and Fubuki's no longer number one, but still gets to enjoy the benefits of being among the top without the stress of being number one.

    Personally, I'm thankful to Coco Kaichou. She had the fastest growth in JP Vtubers scene back then (before Gen 5, Gen 6, and Salome). But during her fast growth, she always took care of her senpai and continuously worked with other members to push Hololive growth together. Feeling like it is one of the standard right now in most Vtuber agencies when the top hitter helped other members to reach the goals together. Like right now even though Aki and Lui are at bottom, they are still belong to top 10% Vtuber in subscription numbers.

Gen 0 and 1 make the foundation and gen 2 help make it more, and gen 3 also EN is coming with a big surpraise.. i think it's the day everyone at cover corp get their moment from there, especially from JP talent.. when gura got famous, marine got famous to overseas and pekora, rushia join it also (that's why people say gen 3 is strongest) they put a big moment that if they can they also bealive everyone is can doit too.. when gura touch first talent who touch 4m marine bcome the first JP who touch 2m, everyone just follow the lead with their own power of course.. i think thats because cover corp not that toxic place, they help eachother that makes everyone still stay and support each other's :')

By hiring people they can trust, Cover can be very lenient with them, which in turn allows the talents to feel some breathing room and that helps with creativity and making the viewers feel comfortable as well

    Covid played a part in delaying a lot of things, but EN is a fundamentally different beast to JP. Cover doesn't just get streamers. It wants talents so that the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Just look at Aki's lives recently - she drove those and it raises the profile of Hololive above just what Aki streaming on her own does. Finding those talents is hard enough, but finding people talented enough that can integrate into Hololive is even harder, especially if they are geographically isolated from both their fellow members and the support staff.
