It's sooo much easier in the UK! You literally sign the deed poll online and then you get a letter that you get within 2-4 days. You sign it and within a week you're done! Then ofc change you're documents but the Uk one is so much easier! And it's £15

I recently changed my name. (Not legally but just with everyone I know) i never really liked my name mainly because it never fit me. The main problem is all of friends know me by my old name. Also all of my teachers know me by that too. My new name is nothing like the old one. So it's always weird to tell new people to call me by my new name. What should I do?

Only fees I paid was to file, and then for the certified copies.

Ryan Jacobs Flores same here in New Mexico I only paid to file the paperwork and then I paid to get a court date and also to get certified copies and a new ID at the DMV. I also had to run my name in the newspaper for two weeks. so total that cost about $600 to get it all done.

you must become a citizen of the united States in order to change it here, however you can change it in your home country and it will be absolutely valid here

ooh nice, thanks for the information! I actually thought it was like the way you said. But it's nice to know for sure now. (: And, well.. Can you tell me if I can have access to all the process of transition (psychological and medical and my first shot) before becoming citizen? Cause' here I can't because of the money, that I don't have (too expensive and lack of experienced professionals) and I live with my parents for now.. I couldn't start anything yet :(

well, I know you can seek therapy and other professional help but you'll need to have some kind of insurance like Medicaid or Blue Cross Blue Shield. you also might be better off asking the therapist/psychiatrist if they would categorize your therapy under "depression/anxiety" so that your insurance will completely cover it. you may have some issues with insurance until you become a citizen, but other than that it shouldn't be all that difficult. however, top surgery, T, and bottom Surgeries are in no way covered by most insurance plans here in the US I suggest saving up, cause it can range anywhere from 7-10 thousand for top surgery, and its even worse with bottom surgery due to the multiple procedures. I haven't even started T yet due to financial issues, but if you save up, as I am, you'll be able to afford it, especially if you get help from places like Planned Parenthood.

I'll try this then I know I have to pay for surgeries and T, that's not the problem.. The only thing I really am worried about is the first steps to get to T. That's it, and if I can do this before becoming a citizen.. I'm more than happy! Much less chances to be depressed or angry though Becoming a citizen is like 5 years or so, huh? If I have to wait until my 27 years old... omg, I'd be really mad

I'm not sure how long it takes but I do know it can be lengthy unless you marry a legal citizen, then you'd be a citizen by default

wow they make this so hard for people in the USA. i live in canada and in my city you just got down to the vital states building pay like 200 dollars if your reason is good. bam 6 weeks and you have your name. As for gender that has to go throw your doctor different papers. but you can change your name almost right away as long as its a good reason and not something that controversial.

At your age you would need your parents to approve of the name change and they would get it changed for you.
