it just makes me so happy to know that FTL still has such a fan base :') also... fighting a drone ship as a boarding ship like mantis A is annoying as hell >.

It usually is the hardest, until you go in there with a guardian drone, then you wreck face.

I think the first phase is hardest cause of the cloak and the hack. Hack can take down a vital system, while cloak makes it hard to constantly keep hitting the flagship.

Next follow up with a "Worst weapon combos to fight" tier list xD

All lasers is awful on stealth ships.

Please do a multiverse tier list. In other news, I think it is a good sign that FTL has so few ships yet makes you think there are tons more. It makes you feel like the universe is more expansive than it really is

I just hate the bigger slug ships because they often come with those encounters that shut down your O2 or something.

It's been a while since I've played it but Shortest Trip to Earth seems right down your alley. Totally a spiritual successor to FTL in my mind. I remember one of the most exciting moments for me playing it was realizing you can fight more than one ship at a time

Thank you, excellent video! The difficulty colors usually work in the other direction (green are weaker than you, yellow and orange are roughly equivalent to you, and red are stronger than you) Changing the S-D tiers to descriptions helped alleviate confusion.

I can deal with boarders pretty easily if they need Oxygen. A Mantis boarder isn't a huge issue. It's odd that drone ships aren't playable in vanilla FTL. You can actually mod one and have it lack crew which is interesting since losing all crew usually results in Game Over. These ships are programmed to run without crew.

The madman did it, he found another one. I dont use discord much but I'd join! Also, I thought of ANOTHER possible tier list: optional systems. Cloning, cloaking, drone/mind control, battery, etc. since ur limited to a few per ship. It's short but could be a good way to condense explanations on ur thoughts about the various systems.

My most recent run, the Flagship chose to hack... my sensors. I was like "It's a bold strategy, Cotton; let's see if it pays off for them!"

7:03 I think you should put the non commandeered fed ships in here, there is one event only found in the crystal sector where you have the option to fight a non pirated federation ship.

I swear to God I've seen Slug Light Cruisers that pack five weapons...

29:35 don't forget about boarding, I fought one of these and I had go back to my ship probably three times because they had 5 zoltans and my mantis' were going to die if they killed another one. They also had level 2 doors, which also nearly killed my boarding crew.

Maybe next a Spearmintz video Tier list? You may have some interesting opinions on some because the creator always has a different viewpoint

If you run teleport, mind control, drone combo, with non-flak weapons, lanius bombers are easy. Not because you’ll actually board them but you’ll usually have high combat crew for their boarders, mind control for countering theirs, drones to stave off missiles and especially their hacking attempts for extended fight instead of just short burst from cloak, and weapons that can be accurate for small rooms, since none of their systems are in large rooms(aka not very vulnerable to flak). If I’ve snagged a couple burst laser 2’s or a flak build with some heavies for good system damage, I like to farm them in the late game for some extreme scrap gains. Bombers give 48-70 and often a double reward for additional 35-50. Sector 5, 6, or 7 abandon and I can usually max out all systems by time I reach flagship. If I have lanius rock or crystal boarders for crew kill on them and recovery arm+repair drone…I’ve almost maxed our by end of sector 6 thanks for my main systems easily and just catching value points for any remaining system form 7 and 8. Sadly, on the flipside, my cloak + hacking builds have almost always died to late sector abandon…😤

What if he made it as a way for us all to share strategies and compare runs? Kind of to compete, set up different challenges for one another. Hope Spear sees this and considers it.

Not sure if it has been added, but where would you put the Flagship construction you find in the Rebel Stronghold?

You should check the hyperspace/multiverse discord the hyperspace devs just release a sorta beta for the first custom system!

Since I just found this video I'd like to point out that Zoltan over shields aren't that bad with a quick firing ion or beam weapon. Both will take down the over shield quickly

I think you might be drastically overestating the effectiveness of enemy boarders. Unless it's like 3 mantis or 2 lanius, It's nothing some doors can't handle

You say the AI hacks stupid sytems, but they always pick the worst times to hack my weapons lol.

I despise engi ships! For me, they seem to always have to burst laser twos, and a defense drone one and two, and to top it all off, three shields.

Its sad that you cant play with the enemy ships

When both the life support room and engineering don't have doors.

@@spearmintz1 I find lanius ships to be super easy between sector 1-4. they only get hard at 4-8. Abandon sector is one of the best sector to go in the early game. It gives you a ton of items and scrap. If your struggling with Abandon sector, Just choose Stealth cruiser A, The mini beam destroys Lanius. I also find it interesting that you find first phase and 2nd phase hard. I find them super easy. I find 3rd phase the hardest particularly if you have no mindcontrol. I feel like hardest ships are slug ships. they tend to have like 6-7 crew, Immune to mindcontrol, 4 shield layers, boarding, they can hack your oxygen or med-bay permanently. They're in nebula which means you can get tons of Ion storms. an absolute nightmare to fight. Zoltan are not that hard because boarding ships will have massive boarding advantage and Gunships can just turtle with MK3 defense drones+big shields/cloaking. Ion drone ships decimate the shield.
