Yaesu FT-817ND Series VHF Episode
One of the best and most versatile 5w QRP transceivers, the FT817 has been around for about 20 years but I've only just discovered it. I think it's brilliant and I want to share with you what I've found out about setting up and using the FT-817ND. In this video I show how rediscovered Repeaters - and how to set up the FT817 to activate them, as well as how to store them in the preset memories.

Thank you for the demonstration! I recently purchased an FT-817ND. I feel a little more confident that with your video and the manual I should be able to get on the air. Looking forward to more FT-817 videos!

I am so glad to see someone else who is as enthusiastic about the FT817 as I am. As an M6 I am of course restricted to my well earned 10w output and this little radio is well suited to my preferred operating which is portable QRP. I use it on all three main modes, HF/VHF & UHV and have had brilliant results with it, in fact my only VK contact was with this radio. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks - so glad you like the videos - 10w seems like super high power to me, all the fun is in QRP ! A VK contact is impressive and proves the point, what a thrill on low power! Keep enjoying your FT817....and 73 from Mort / G4BSK

Enjoying your FT817 series of videos Mortimer, you have a very clear and calm presenting style. Really looking forward to seeing more as I’m contemplating getting one of these as my first step into amateur radio. Particularly liked the mods you’ve done already with the battery and Sotabeam filter. Keep them coming! All the best 👍

How many repeaters does the Yaesu FT817 store? And how do you do it, what is the configuration. I appreciate any help.
