FSB tries and fails (again) to kill Zelensky | Ukraine This Week

This week, Vladimir Putin was sworn in, on May 7, for his fifth term as Russian President. Two days later, Moscow held its annual Victory Day Parade markedly different than in the years past. For the second year in a row, the only tracked vehicle on display was a single T-34-85 produced from 1944 to 1946. The effects of the war in Ukraine were visible and Putin addressed the Russian people, saying the country “is going through a difficult time”.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to suffer Russian attacks on civilians and infrastructure. Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, suffers constant strikes. This May, even those who survived the horrors of World War II have nothing to celebrate. For them, it’s happening all over again.
As long as Russia targets critical infrastructure, telecommunications and keeping people connected is an ever persistent challenge for Ukrainians. Even in peace time, Ukraine will need a decade and billions of dollars to restore its network.
Frontlines Map:
We explore possible scenarios and strategies on the Avdiivka and Chasiv Yar hotspots. In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces make a notable incursion near Vovchansk.
Journalist focus:
We did it once and we will do it again! Former War Correspondent, turned Soldier for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Sgt. Sarah Ashton-Cirillo, joins us in the studio on her return trip from NATO HQ in Brussels. We talk about the Eastern front and her latest experience in Chasiv Yar.
U.S. Weapons for Ukraine:
We all know that the US finally passed a $61 billion support package for Ukraine. The nitty, gritty details though are top secret. There is no need for speculation. Instead, a conversation with Sen. Tom Brewer (R.) provides valuable insight. Sen. Brewer is a member of the Nebraska Legislature who served in the US army for 36 years, completed six tours in Afghanistan, and was awarded 2 purple hearts. Sen. Brewer has taken several humanitarian missions to Ukraine and worked with the US Congress to provide military aid to Ukraine. Sen. Brewer gives his raw assessment on what weapons are important and why.
Assassination attempt on President Zelensky:
President Zelensky sacked the head of the State Guard on Thursday after two Colonels in the service were caught in an assassination plot. According to the State Security Service (SBU), the two were recruited by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) to find someone close to the presidential guard to kidnap and later kill the Ukrainian President. The SBU said the spy group also planned to kill SBU head Vasyl Maliuk and Kyrylo Budanov, the military intelligence agency's head.
Retired U.S. Military Intelligence Officer, John Sweet, discusses the dangers and challenges of protecting the Ukrainian President. Mr. Sweet served 30 years in intelligence and is a contributor and columnist for The Hill, the New York Post, Washington Examiner, Kyiv Post and FOX News.

If vladov Putler is allowed to take ukrainian land by aggression in some peace deal then who or what is going to stop the russians if they attack another country? Did people not learn in ww2 that appeasement and giving up land does nothing? It did not stop Hitler did it? And it certainly is not going to stop putler either.

I am really getting frustrated by our Western country's governments.. They're all saying "We'll give whatever Ukraine needs and will support Kiev for as long as it takes".... But those are merely words, I don't see actions following those words.. Actions that do follow are a thousand shells here and a Patriot battery there. This is not "What ever it takes"... We are all aware of the military and economic power of NATO members. And being aware of that we can all see that we're giving maybe 10% of what's needed and could be provided... I think the main problem is the fact that some European leaders aren't convinced that Putin would ever dare to beyond Ukraine after he wins the war there. Of course these leaders won't say that in camera but they still hold to that despite the overwhelming amount of data provided by the intelligence agencies that say - Yes, Putin will go beyond and attack Poland, Baltic.... So until Meloni, Scholtz, Macron and Sunak don't accept that our boys will have to bleed if Ukraine falls, the amount of weapons flowing to Ukraine from Europe won't dramatically increase... USA is a different story all together.. We have our internal political problems and battles and the November election is is by far the most important thing politicians and population is thinking about.. Most Americans never heard of Ukraine, let alone realize how important that country is for our national security... When Biden gets the 2nd term America can join with full force.. Until then it's time for Europe to give much much more... Just the other day I've red how Spain declined to give Ukraine their Patriot battery, as if they'll need it any time soon.. Hey Spain, if the war breaks out and the situation is so bad that you need Patriot to defend Madrid, you have much greater problems than the lack of the few Patriot missiles.. That means that Russia has stormed through Italy, Germany and France and you should probably surrender. Portugal is the same. Again, EU alone dwarfs Russia in GDP, population and the defense budget numbers... EU alone can kick Putin's ass, all it takes is a political will and for the weapons factories to start pumping stuff from the 3rd shift...
