Half the current team were bought when the Sheikh bypassed FFP with his doping. Sent money onto the sponsors, which teh sponsors sent to the club claiming in was 'sponsorship' money. Incredible billion quid scam. Wouldn't have players like De Bruyne, Walker, Stones, Bernardo Silva or Ederson had they followed teh same rules as every other PL club, including Liverpool & Arsenal; the real PL winners.

I think there is an obvious element of sour grapes by this fan to say that City are turning the Premier League into a 'farmers league' but he does have a case. If Premier League fans are going to accuse other leagues (like Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga) of being "boring" and "dead" because the same team keeps/kept winning the title, then surely that logic now needs to be applied to the Premier League, because otherwise, it's hypocritical.

It's not just about the winner but about the depth. Chelsea and Liverpool have won the CL in the last five years but didn't play this year because they couldn't make the top 4 in the EPL. Name me another league where two recent winners didn't qualify. When Real Madrid and Barcelona both miss the La Liga top 4 then we can talk.

Even if Man city have won four in a row they have all gone to the wire except for one. In the EPL you can win the Champs League one year and miss qualifying the next. The richest club in the league has just finished 8th. Doesn't happen in any other league.

It’s not a farmers league. If we would’ve beaten Fulham on New Year’s Eve we would’ve been champions. That’s how close it came. We were dire in that match and it cost us the title. Losing to Villa wouldn’t have made much difference.

Arsenal are their own worst enemy, relied on about 15 players all season. Why give Reiss Nelson a new contract? Why give Eddie Nketiah £100k a week new contract and Henry's number 14? Why buy Lokonga barely play him for two seasons, then loan him out twice where he played decent? Why couldn't we have sold Cedric Soares and Elneny and got a backup DM? Why did we let Pepe go for free, when we could have sold him for £30M to Saudi? Or better, why not keep him as backup and sell Nelson? Why did we buy Fabio Vieira? Why didn't we sell Smith-Rowe and buy Maddison last season? Why didn't we put down an extra £15M for Caicedo and buy him last January and then go and buy Schick and Rice in the summer? Why did we let Tierney go when we needed a proper LB there? Why weren't our youth given more opportunities?

You could argue that arsenal were the better side this season given they took a lot more points off the big teams than City. But taking 1/12 points from Fulham and Aston Villa is a disgrace and that’s truly where the league was lost. People are saying Arsenal didn’t bottle the league but 1/12 from Fulham and Aston Villa imo makes this a bottle. You genuinely could have beaten city by 8-10 points. To put it into context United took 9/12 points from those two teams…

@@Samivermusic No, it shows that one team had all of the money and players, and you had teams in the bottom 12 with journeymen. When Man Utd were spending £30m on Veron and Ferdinand, you had Bradford City in the PL with Dean Windass. The fact that Utd lost to weak teams like that isn't a plus, it shows they were far weaker than we remember, and the Liverpool and Arsenal teams of the last 7 years who finished runners up multiple times would destroy them every single season. These days, even the bottom 5 teams have international players and budgets bigger than almost all German, Italian and Spanish teams. There is a genuine top 8 or 9 clubs who can compete for Europe (and trophies) every year. Back in Man Utd's heyday it was only 2 teams competing for anything (them and Arsenal).

I personally think it was closer then as the gap between efl and PL was about 6 million a year whilst now it is above 200 million. You have the bottom teams all getting relegated with the lowest combined points ever and no promoted team has got in the top five since Ipswich in 2000-2001 where previously you had the likes of newcastle and forest coming up and finishing 3rd in 93-94 and 94-95. English clubs have more money than European sides but the gulf in the PL is almost leagues within a league.

@@Samivermusic I think the difference between 8th and 20th back then was closer, but that is because the overall league was weaker. Like I said, none of the bottom 12 teams back then had quality players like Kudus, Mitoma, etc. Those players all played for top 4 teams, and the bottom half of the table had Rory Delap, Dean Windass level players. You must also remember that while the bottom teams het more money now than they used to, the top 4 got £50m-100m a year more than everyone just for being in the CL. That means that for 20 years, Man Utd, Arsenal & Liverpool could essentially buy a Rooney, Veron and Ferdinand EVERY season on that alone. The gap now is much closer, hence Utd & Chelsea spending over a billion each and not making the top 4. Villa made it in because they can afford top players now, and not have to rely on Utd cast offs like Bosnich. Utd can just cherry pick other team's best players these days either because the other clubs can pay much more than they used to. In the Man Utd heyday, only they could buy those players until Chelsea came along. They could just take Cole from Newcastle, Yorke from Villa, Sheringham from Spurs. Now those teams can keep their best players. It's much harder now when every team has top international players.

City rivals may have spent more than City on transfers. But the amount that City spend on wages and agent fees dwarfs the money that every other team spend. 51 mill for Haaland transfer plus almost as much on agent fees and sweetners. What is Haaland paid a week? It is definitely north of 600k.
