@Awhoo Thunder How do people not know to not leave your dogs out in the cold. If it's too cold for you it's too cold for them. People are so dumb. People.have animals leave them outside in extreme cold and hot weather without proper shelter to protect them from the environment. The difference between humans and animals we can talk, they can't. Humans have a better chance of surviving than the animals. If the animals get hurt they will just die off because no one helps innocent stray animals.

@@bjmartin6684 Right. Bottomline is there is no comparison. Humans are capable, they can get jobs and care for themselves. An animal has no way of going out and getting a job, a home, make food etc., they solely depend on humans. Even then, ,many humans can't even do the basic needs for an animal. These people have choices, things are offered to them to help them better their lives but they don't won't it, only a few take advantage of these programs, but like one said, 'too many rules'. Life is all about rules. That's life. I hear a lot of excuse here. I do feel bad for those who have mental illness. But one wants to know how is it illegal to leave a dog out in the cold but it's okay to leave them...they have a choice, a dog doesn't !!

doesn’t mean the government shouldn’t have a house/shelter that’s heated for the -25 degree weather. what about next year? what if it’s worse? just for the sake of humanity, and not dehumanizing. they can’t find somewhere warm, because nobody trusts random people in their house. not comin at nobody btw all love edit: i mean like not even a school? wouldn’t they be closed being that cold? and they have heat. they could’ve had officers supervising them and make them leave at day. idk just an after thought.

I seen places like that where the city used some of there old buildings to deal with it and in just a few short months it just became a drug and gang domain, the plumbing and walls were all damaged, half the doors were off the hinges. I did see one that was converted to many rooms and they had it staffed 24/7 to keep out the trouble, it worked for years. Another project that was tried was to charge $4 a night and that worked for years too, this was also staffed 24/7, this was a bit nicer with large bathrooms with showers and a kitchen to use with a locking cupboard for each room. Good setup for those who are in transition.

the problem with homeless people moving into abandoned buildings is when they get hurt... they sue the owners. they trash the place even more and bring down property taxes for the neighborhood. you can't say they don't trash the place..... look at the trash around tent city they showed...... those people can get out and clean it up themselves. they don't have to have someone come show them how. pick it up and carry it with you when you leave and drop it in a trash can. if they all did it.... it would be clean in no time.

He was later found frozen to death. I keep thinking of myself even many years later what a terrible way to go and I wish said there was more to help and rehabilitate people I don't know what else to say.

I also volunteered in training boxers, mainly basics, to kids from the age of 7-17, both female and male. I also hooked up with a band to participate in musical venues in different causes, and dances in different occasions. That's the secret to surviving homelessness, but most importantly, is staying sober, so you can have clarity and set goals to pull yourself out of that situation. I joined the YMCA, in order to stay fit and healthy, and did volunteer work there, that also provided showers so I could be clean and presentable ...*

It was a very hard time and scary. Many times I thought of ending myself, but just kept on telling my self, "One more day Corey. Just one more day..." I still have many physiological problems of being homeless. I am so scared of being homeless again. I wish I could tell TFIL more but... It would be pages of me typing.

I also live In CO. I was born and raised in the Denver Metro Area there is a major population of homeless people here. It’s expensive to live here, high demand for housing, massive influx of people coming here from other states, all these have made the problem get larger and worse as time moves on. These are many things that make it worse, and not many people care enough about the people holding signs up at intersections or the people sleeping on bus stop benches and Tents around Denver. I don’t know if I’ll ever see a day here when you will actually notice less people out living in the streets. Nowadays I see panhandlers all the way out by Southlands Mall way out of Denver In the suburbs. Makes me grateful for what I have In my life I can’t take the little things for granted growing up here has definitely made me appreciate what I have a lot more.

Even tho sometimes we always complain that we don't have something, we always forget that we have so much more than what others have like these guys. You should always appreciate for what you have because one day it could all go away and you'll be left with nothing. These people who are homeless kinda inspire me in a way. They teach you to value the things that you have and all I want to do is just give them the stuff that they don't have so that they can at least have something that we know will make them happy. I love this, Uncle Elton!! My mother & I spent a big portion of my childhood living in a children's hospital in Chicago while my pops & sister stayed @ home, in WV. Our 1st trip out to Chicago, I was going to have my entire ribcage reconstructed, an emergency surgery, but my dad drove us out in a tiny Chevy S10 w/a single bench seat for mom, dad, & I--we were poverty stricken so family collected $ so we'd have gas $ t0 get me there, & Dad drove us out there our 1st trip bc I was about to undergo a 6hr surgery that carried a tremendous risk of being fatal. So, to me, it was just a winter road trip bc no one had yet explained to 5yro me that it was much more than a road trip, that I could die. Anyway, we get to Illinois on a late January morning when a blizzard suddenly strikes & overturns several semis on the Eisenhower Expressway, both eastbound & westbound. For 12hr, we were stuck in 1 spot. Many vehicles began running out of gas, some were blowing engines bc of sitting in idle for hrs, & we saw people, some entire families even, abandoning their vehicles & attempting to run for shelter from the cold though there was nowhere to go. My parents sat on each side of me, using their own bodies to keep me warm. Once we did finally make it to the hospital & I was transferred to a ward, it was after midnight, but the next say I began to meet children, w/no family members there to support them, who'd been injured by hypothermia bc their families lived in tent cities and shit, it was heartbreaking, but the worst was a teenage girl who's father flipped out during the whiteout blizzard that we were stuck in bc the girl kept crying about being cold & frightened, & so he dragged her from their car, & he threw her under an oncoming semi right after they had reopened the eastbound side of the highway. The girl wound up undergoing 14 surgeries just in the few months that I spent there recovering from my 1st surgery, & the surgeons told her that she'd probably never walk again & that no amount of plastic surgery would totally eliminate the tire marks in her legs. She'd been hit, her lower extremities being run over by an 18 wheeler, yet not 1 member of her family was there w/her--her grandmother was the only person who'd visited for a day, & she wound up under the care of the hospital's social services department. That's the kind of insanity exposure to freezing cold can cause. I grew up in West Virginia, we've had some horrendous winters in my time, but I had never experienced such cold like I did during my days in Chicago. Thank you, Elton!! Many blessings & hugs to you & all those who've contributed to this cause!!

Charities are more than able to supply this need from those who are willing to donate. Absolutely not - If it were, you'd also scream that someone needs to feed your for free because that is your right, and someone needs to clothe you for free, and the professors need to teach you for free because that is also a right...You know what you won't be getting in the U.S. anymore if you come here, and tell the state and government you need to be fed and on state assistance, because, well Fuck, I guess because it;s your right - Well the SCOTUS ruled that if you want the freebies, you won't be getting the greencard, so go right ahead and suck another person's money out of their pocket while you are here, but when your time is up, get out and work on fixing your country and its goverment - The USA is not here to offer everyone their so called "rights" - -And before you go bashing me, my parents did not come here walking through desert - They made the trip on a plane to get here, and got in legally, so if they can make it across an ocean and pass the exam and speak the language as they should, and contribute to the country AS CITIZENS(none of the BS that someone pays taxes, but are not a citizen) there is no reason that people coming in on foot can't get to an entrypoint and come in legally -as my parents did, as all immigrants should.....

It is insanity to leave human beings outside in the elements without proper shelter. While at the same time, you can drive into most cities and find storage facilities to store objects!

You legally cannot live in storage units they are not meant to have people in them there's a reason why they don't have insulation and running water and no utility outlets and no plugs and no showers and no bathrooms they are not meant for people

  • @FlCajun85

Also it's a hell of a lot cheaper to store your items than it is to take care of people that bring in nothing to help you back imagine how much somebody's utility bills would be if they took in a person or even a couple and had to pay for all of their water that they used all their utilities that they use and all their food it would get very expensive very quickly now imagine having to take in what the city said 80,000 people in Chicago that are homeless you imagine the city to be able to take care of 80,000 people for free

Not only do these people not have a roof over their heads, with heat, running water and a bath room but not having a permanent address is a big draw back to finding a job. No one will hire you if you don't have a actual address. And this is sad.

I’m homeless in Minnesota, I’ve been couch hopping for the last year and I’m only 18 this last week has been really hard for me tho because where I was staying I got kicked out so now I’ve been couch hopping a lot the last week/ week and a half. This Christmas was one of the worsts for me and I barley have enough money to support myself and get an apartment, so I might have to sleep on the streets and I’ll have no way to work so I might lose my job. I’m not trying to make people feel bad for me or anything I just wanted to share my experience and my story. Anyways I hope y’all had a wonderful holidays 💕also TFIL I love you guys and your videos keep up the good work you guys inspire me to no end🥰

People are so scared of what they don’t understand, and homeless people are one of them. When someone asks for money people don’t know what to say, and they look at people like they are animals. My close family members have even been homeless and even when they are approached by homeless people they are reluctant to help. It’s such a touchy topic but it needs to be explained. Thank you for digging deeper into the problem because something needs to change.

I’ve lived in Chicago for 14 yrs and I’m 15 now.. everytime the winter hits it’s heartbreaking to see the tragedy happening of people dying. It gets below 5 and people still manage to live there... it snows fts and fts and the homeless r still found sleeping outside... the lakes get frozen... I’ve been thru a state when I did live in a house but with no heater... we had huge space but really small heaters that really didn’t help unless u stay in front of it... I was freezing but imagine them outside with very little to use to warm them😢😢😔
