⚓️Frozen Ships in Duluth: -2°F Cold Creates Ice & Frozen Horn!

Ойын-сауық

The 767-foot ship "Philip R. Clarke" and the 1000-foot ship "American Century" passed under the Aerial Lift Bridge in freezing Duluth, MN!
The story is definitely about the ice and cold during this special two-ship video! This is the first time I have recorded ice covering ships since winter has started. This was the coldest day by far as winter conditions recently took over Duluth, Minnesota. The temperature was -2°F with the wind chill factored in as these two ships passed through Duluth's ship canal. I zoomed in on the structure above the bow of the American Century and it was totally covered in ice, almost looking like a miniature ice castle. Also, you will see thick ice covering the ship's railings along the deck. The ship blasted a loud horn salute to the bridge as well.
The ship Philip R. Clarke waited for the American Century to depart and it arrived looking very beautiful. The captain actually came out of the pilothouse and yelled to the crowd saying the ship had a frozen horn but they would give it a try. It was so cool to hear the weak horn trying to blast due to the cold and eventually, it did break loose from the cold and blasted a powerful salute to the bridge.

That’s so funny you bring that up. Chuck is a friend of mine and a person that has been with this channel since the beginning. He visited Duluth from Ohio earlier this year. While in Duluth, him and I recorded a video together, and one of the observations he made was the bike on the second deck behind the American Century. It’s kind of a funny joke for this channel. Now it’s hard for me not to look for the bike.😂😂😂😂😂👍⛴️

@@adamhall9325Hi there Adam. I'm the Chuck of Chuck's bike. Being an avid biker, I guess the bike jumped out at me when you all cruised by. I'm sure it makes for good transportation at certain times/ports. No doubt the issue is finding enough free shore time! Your ship has such fast turn around times. Great hearing from you. Hope you stop back again. Love the AC. Great ship

Two-fer Tuesday. Both ships are great looking. The Philip R Carke's horn sounded weak until it broke through. The American Century with frozen ice on the railing looked like spider webs to me. The morning temperature in Farmington was 14 degrees. And somewhat windy. The high temperature got up to 21 degrees. Starting tomorrow through Saturday night it should be in the 40's! Yes -2 degrees below zero on the Duluth Harbor feels like it's colder than that. Stay safe and warm Mike.

Hey friend! I hope you’re having a great Tuesday night. How have you been? It was so cold in Duluth yesterday with the wind. It felt like it was 25 below zero. I really enjoyed recording both of these ships. I was able to get a great recording tonight of an ocean vessel. I think you will like that in the future. Take care friend.
