Frozen Movie Description:
When their kingdom becomes trapped in perpetual winter, fearless Anna (Kristen Bell) joins forces with mountaineer Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and his reindeer sidekick to find Anna's sister, Snow Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel), and break her icy spell. Although their epic journey leads them to encounters with mystical trolls, a comedic snowman (Josh Gad), harsh conditions, and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff bravely push onward in a race to save their kingdom from winter's cold grip.
Frozen is a 2013 American computer-animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The 53rd Disney animated feature film, it is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen". The film depicts a princess who sets off on a journey alongside an iceman, his reindeer, and a snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped their kingdom in eternal winter.
Frozen underwent several story treatments before being commissioned in 2011 as a screenplay by Jennifer Lee, who co-directed with Chris Buck. The film features the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, and Santino Fontana. Christophe Beck was hired to compose the film's orchestral score, while Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez wrote the songs. Frozen had its general theatrical release on November 27, 2013. It was praised for its visuals, screenplay, themes, music, and voice acting; some film critics consider Frozen to be Disney's best animated film since the studio's renaissance era. Frozen received two awards at the 86th Academy Awards, and numerous accolades.
During its theatrical run, the film was a significant commercial success, earning $1.280 billion in worldwide box office revenue, overtaking Toy Story 3 to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and carried its position until it was overtaken by the remake of The Lion King in 2019. It also became the fifth highest-grossing film of all time and the highest-grossing film of 2013. By January 2015, the film became the best-selling Blu-ray Disc in the United States, which resulted in the film launching a franchise, including an animated short in 2015, an animated featurette in 2017, and a feature-length sequel, Frozen II, in November 2019.

    @jf k I honestly don't remember, is that directly said in the sequal or is it just a speculative guess. If the latter, than it doesn't count as a defense for either film. If the former, no one should be crediting the first film for something the sequal does. So no matter what the first film is still hypocritical when it comes to critism of fairy tail romances.

    The main message of the movie is that while romance is fickle, family love is unbreakable. The entire situation resolved itself by their sisterly love, instead of the typical Disney “true love’s kiss”. It honestly has a bigger impact on me. THIS... THIS is why Frozen is still one of my favorite Disney movies.

    One of my favorite details of the screen play is that when Elsa is building her ice palace and finally letting herself feel a bit of freedom instead of suffocating expectations, she is referred to like an artist. "In a flurry of creative release, she raises the snowflake on ice beams, builds walls, archways, a glistening chandelier, and an intricate ceiling that leaves the sky visible. Standing firmly in her mighty palace, Elsa removes her crown and throws it. She takes down her hair and creates a new dress made of ice. The sun rises. Elsa struts out onto the balcony and into the light. She's free."

    My second favorite would have to be the moment where Hans tells Elsa that Anna is dead. "Elsas face sinks as she realizes what she has done. Elsa drops to her knees, emotionally broken. And with that, the swirling storm suddenly stops. The snow freezes mid-air, hangs suspended, trapped in grief."

    In monarchy it's usually the oldest sibling that becomes the queen/king. That's why Elsa became the queen. In some circumstances the younger sibling might take over like the oldest died, or is mentally/ physically unstable to take over, or refuses to do it. And, no, Elsa didn't mean to use her powers when she used them at the beginning. She was never thought how to use and control them. Only thought how to hide.

    If I remember right, Disney movies often have a parent die because it can be a fear for some children, or a difficult situation for children to be in when they do lose a parent, and showing characters that children can relate to experiencing that loss and overcoming it can help them have the confidence to do the same.

    I do love Anna's reactions through this film especially things like her edging away from Kristoff on the sleigh when he asks if her parents warned her about strange men. Also like all those little cut ins of "I'm going to tell him" and "Don't you dare" when Melverse comments on Hans. Watching the sequel actually expands the story quite well too. I watched this far too many times at the theatre because I was trying to catch all the little hints and details they put in the background of this film like the many hidden Mickey Mouses or the way during the confrontation in the castle (when you ask if Elsa can die from ice) and Hans looks up at the Chandelier before dragging the crossbow to hit it so he looks like a hero while trying to kill Elsa.

    5:22 Actually, I think it was explained a while ago that Walt Disney feels guilty that his mother, Fiona Disney, died in a gas leak in the house where they moved, especially after his mother complained that she smelled a strange odor coming from the furnace. So I think in order to get over this trauma, in most cases Disney stories, the mother figure (in most cases), but not only is she killed or portrayed as a dead person already: Pinocchio, a puppet without a mother, Lilo and Nani's parents from "Lilo and Stitch" -dead in car accident before the movie, Queen Athena from "Little mermaid", killed by pirates, Bambi's mother, died by a gunshot, Belle's mother, not even introduced... and Mufasa, who even after 28 years, this death make people cry 😣

    I look at the movie this way - it's an allegory of a young women coming of age and dealing with their own sexuality. Elsa represents a frigid woman an "ice queen" and shuts everyone out. Anna is the opposite and she falls in love with the first man she meets. The traditional fairy tale trope is that Prince Charming will save the princess. What I like about Frozen, especially as a parent of two daughters is that it turn the trope on its head - it is not the love of a prince that saves them, rather it is the love of family and each other. Elsa warms up a bit and lets people in, Anna chills out and lets Kristoff be her friend. It's about finding moderation in one's life, and embracing broader relationships rather than purely idealistically romantic ones.

Anna saved Elsa which was the greatest act of true love.☺️☺️

And after watching the movie, Elsa clicked in me an understanding of myself that I hadn't realized; my abuse had made me afraid to form connections because I expected people to hurt me back. And seeing Elsa have her super powers, being beautiful and a literal Queen but still doubt herself because she had hurt the person she loved more than anything is very special to me. It helped me take back control on my life. Frozen 2 did something similar for me, so I look forward to you giving that a chance! Also I would recommend the two shorts, Frozen Fever & Olaf's Adventure, if you just want to see a few minor relationship details that happen in that lead to movie 2.

    So here's the neat backstory to this movie: The reason why Prince Hans' villain twist comes so late is because initially, he was supposed to be good and Elsa was actually supposed to be the villain. But then the songwriters penned "Let It Go" and Idina Menzel sang it and the creative team realized it was the key, and that it was way too powerful and inspirational for her to be a villain. So they rewrote the third act late in the game.

    MellVerse: "You can't kill a queen!" Well... History has seen quite a few queens executed. But... Once Elsa was crowned queen, she became a "queen regnant", or reigning queen. I did a brief internet search, but couldn't find any queen regnants that had been executed. The Queens I did find were either uncrowned (Lady Jane Gray), or a queen consort (Marie Antoinette, Anne Boleyn, Catherine Howard). I'm not sure where Alexandra Feodorovna would fit in here, as she was an empress consort.

  • @V_4_Versace

    @V_4_Versace

    I love Big Hero 6 but let’s be honest, it’s just the same Marvel movies they always make, just animated. Plus since it was already a comic there’s was nothing new or groundbreaking we saw there. Frozen was Disney’s new renaissance, with one of their beloved folktale throwbacks, now told in original, emotional ways that didn’t fall into their usual tropes. People take it for granted now but it was truly a cultural reset at the time which is why it was so hyped.

  • @V_4_Versace
    @V_4_Versace2 жыл бұрын

    Man I was sort of the same way (a hater 😭) when this movie came out. I really had no interest in it because of all the hype, but then I just watched it one day when I was sad and in the mood for some Disney happiness, and when I tell you I absolutely bawled my eyes out during *do you wanna build a snowman* when their parents died and Anna was trying to connect with Elsa. That is just so real and so many siblings (and people in general) can relate to feeling so much grief but not being able to share and open up about it. And after that I just fell in love with this movie because it had so many amazing messages and themes that were, at the time, so much deeper than anything Disney had done before. I think people really forget how much this movie really broke the mold for Disney and opened up their animated stories in a whole new way. Frozen to me feels like the start of the new Disney renaissance era they are currently in, with their deep emotional storytelling, the same way the little mermaid saved Disney in the past. Groundbreaking (no pun intended lol) 🥶❄️

Also my mom had guessed who the bad guy was right from the start of the movie. Her and my aunt spent their childhoods reading Harlequin romance novels, and the bad guys in them were, a lot of the time, “heirs with no chance of ascending to their own thrones or places of power in their family”, so they’d find somewhere to usurp their way to the top.

    She and Anna are roughly the same age, but technically, Elsa is the oldest, and with no male heir (fan theories aside), she is being corronated as queen. Standard procedure, regarding royalty in any standard Disney flick. Btw, Anna wasn't about to crap herself, just explaining in her own way that she's anxiously awaiting the first contact with the outside world in at least a decade. No one was allowed to go in-and-out of the castle, so that Elsa would be isolated enough that she couldn't hurt anyone with her powers growing stronger every day.
