    Everything I've cooked in this unit has come out great kzread.infoUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB ! Everything tastes so good. Some of the recipes I've changed a little to improve the taste. For instance, for french fries which call for no oil, I spray them with olive oil and season them with salt and pepper. They come out great! It makes the best toast I have ever eaten. The recipe I use calls for lightly buttering both sides of the bread. It calls for cooking at 400 degrees for 5 minutes on one side and then 2 minutes on the other side. This time has a lot to do with the kind of bread you are using...so keep an eye on it. Also, the fans in this Ninja are a lot stronger than other air fryers. So lay a metal spoon or something on the bread to keep it from flying around. It's a little extra work to use your Ninja as a toaster but it is worth it!

    Welcome! Yes, both Ninja Foodi models that I have owned are very easy to clean. Usually a quick soap and water rinse does the job and both the main pot and the fryer basket and associated parts are dish washer safe. Thanks for joining us and please ask your friends to stop by and join as well. Take care!

    I agree. I do a similar fried breakfast potato using red potatoes (no peeling necessary), in the Foodi. Cute cubes, roll in olive oil, salt and pepper, onion powder and paprika (I like smoked paprika). Quick spritz of oil on the crisper basket, dump in potatoes, 400°F until your desired crispiness. Stir occasionally. Enjoy.

    Do you find frozen fries get soggy or does the lightly sprayed oil and salt help with that?

  • @TheInsecureChef

    Hello. Thanks for watching. I've found that eventually ALL fries get soggy :) However the small quantity of oil would seem a likely assist for keeping the fries crispy. But nevertheless, they will eventually get cold and soggy. Bummer.

    I'm going to get the Ninja Foodie, just been waiting till Christmas is over and prices have stabilised. Is your model the Foodie Max or the Foodie Mini? Thanks for the interesting video!

    Hello and welcome to the Insecure Chef. For about two and a half years I used the ninja foodi model OP302 which was the six and a half quart. Great machine and I seriously never thought of upgrading. However I saw Louise Long demonstrating on her Channel "The Salted Pepper" the newest model OL701 SmartXL and was very impressed with that, so I've since upgraded to that model approximately six months ago. It is 8qt machine with a dizzying array of features. I use it, at a minimum, 8 to 10 a week, mostly for dinners and often for breakfast. Do a good deal of pies, cornbread, etc. also. Thanks for subscribing.

    Unfortunately the model OL701 is still priced well over $200. However you are correct that the original OP 9 function models are now half that price, at least in the 6.5 quart size. The 8qt models are still in the $150 range at least as of April 2022.

    Yeah, I've tried several sprayers but the PAM sprayer seems to work well with any oil I refill it with. All the other commercial sprayers either leaked, came out in a stream or just clogged up.

    Why would you season frozen French fries? Do you thaw them out first?

    I'll typically salt them as frozen and then load them into Ninja Foodi. But the option is of course yours.

    Do you have to put oil and salt?

  • @TheInsecureChef

    @TheInsecureChef

    3 жыл бұрын

    Just a spritz or two of canola oil rubbed around the fries is all you need. Just 1-2 spritz is all that is needed. However, you can cook them with no oil at all but the small amount of oil I'm suggesting is well worth. As for salt, that is a personal preference but I think salt is almost universal on French fries.

    Hi. Welcome to the Insecure Chef and thank you for watching. At approximately 1 minute 35 seconds or so of the video I mentioned that the time I start with is around 17 minutes. But I also clearly state that the time comes down to Personal Taste based on the fries' appearance and crispiness So in my case I can't easily give you an answer because I happen to like them one way, while you may very well liked them another. What I tell folks is to ou simply watch them and when you get around the 14 minute mark start checking it every 30 seconds looking for the color and crispiness you like. When you reach that point, take them out and enjoy.

    Guess ok for cooking for 2. But can't fill the basket all the way up say for a group of people?

  • @TheInsecureChef

    @TheInsecureChef

    3 жыл бұрын

    It would not be practical to "fill" the basket, as air frying requires good circulation and a full basket would likely defeat that requirement. I most certainly have prepared a healthy serving for four (4) adults with no problem. However keep in mind as you do begin putting larger quantities in the fryer that you should periodically open the Foodi and give your food a good stir/flip/shake to make certain the all the components are getting a fair share of the heat. Total cook time may need to be adjusted as well. Experiment!

    Total time is really up to you. Somewhere around the 10-minute mark, you'll see the fries starting to change color. Just continue to cook them until they get to the color and crispiness you desire. All your choice. Enjoy.

    Hello. I'm sorry but I was confused as to what you are asking. As shown in the video, I simple roll the frozen (or freshly cut) fries in oil (canola), salt them as desired and air-fry them in the Ninja Foodi at 390-400°F. until the desired colr/crispiness. Enjoy.

    Well, you can get more in the foodie just stir them around a little bit while they're frying. Or if you're using a Foodie get the 8qt version instead of the 6.5qt size machine. At the very least you can make two or three separate batches since it's pretty quick, so that doesn't seem to be much of a problem. Enjoy.

  • @TheInsecureChef

    Hello. There are several KZread videos showing the cleaning of Ninja Foodi models OP30x. The pot and basket are easy cleaned with soap and water and can also be placed in the dishwasher. What can cause odors is the silicon ring in the pressure cooker lid. That ring is easily removed and placed in a dishwasher. Make sure you clean the little chrome pressure vent inside the pressure lid as well. That also comes in and out easily. The entire pressure lid ( this the separate, removable lid), can be completed submerged in soap and water for cleaning. The underside of the attahed lid can be somewhat cleaned with a small, stiff wire brush. I hope this information is of some help to you.
