Front Yard Backyard Roller Coaster - First Human Trials
Last week's crash didn't stop Lyle and me from testing out the new cart on the new track! Check out the final parts of the cart build and the Very First Time we get to ride it! This coaster is going to Rock The Maker Faire! -----

7:19 Oh look it´s a dad powered multiple launch coaster! :D
Back in 1988 I decided to build a roller coaster in my back yard I was 16 and we were wild kids I made it out of wood and pipe from a old house well I finished it it was about the size of wills well i gathered a bunch of friends hopped on and they pulled a rope to bring me up on the start hill I shouted go and next thing I remembered I woke up in A@E didn't stop my love for trill rides haha I now have 7 home made coasters in my back yard and your ideas and inventions helped me finish a lot of them thanks will :) I would love to post my progress on KZread like you but I'm useless for technology haha I use my sons account and all I can do is click and type
I'm glad that you are an awesome dad, I couldn't build 1 Meter of tracks without any fails
You are the koolest dad ever just saying.
Will, Lyle seems very confident. It awesome. Plain and simple. Cant wait till its all finished and we get to see it all in action from point A. Keep up the great work.
You seem like such a great guy, your children are very luck! Keep doing what your doing. All the way from the UK.
Your son is one lucky guy!
Looking good!
I bet it requires a lot of discipline to withstand the children's pleas when you got something like this in your yard :) good job Will. The bank after the camel hump just looks so incredibly fun. Looking forward to additional tests!
The swing-axle cart reminds me of RMCs next-gen trains
That looks like fun !!!
What a good dad .. Good on ya mate
Looks good. On the upstop support design, welds in shear loading are better than weld in tension loading, but that would be more of a fatigue issue, and would be an problem if you were using it many thousands of times. If you have any doubt, you could send a long grade 8 bolt from top to bottom, right through the center of the vertical support tube. I think you'll feel quite a left jerk in the first turn off the hill. Your riders will probably learn to lean right coming off the hill, which will minimize the loads. You might want to leave a little clearance between the upstop wheels and the track, or it will bind a little on hills and valleys. But, you wanted more drag.... The cart looks really good. I assume you'll provide some sort of bombproof way that their feet can't get down to the track.

Paul Gregg First off, you were right about the seat. Headline is too rough off the first drop and after the camel hump. I'm going to experiment with different seating, and and enclosed cart. I'm pretty comfortable with the welds these days. Great thing about modular design is that I can add/remove/change/replace track segments. First to go will be the turn off the first drop. I'd like the rollout to be longer and convert more potential energy to kinetic fun :) As with all things, a work in progress!

Will Pemble Then again, "rough" is different for different people, and it may depend on who you let ride it. It may be fine for your son, even more exciting, the way it is. After he rides a few times, he can anticipate rough spots, and react. But you might not want inexperienced or out-of-shape riders.

you have very nice children :) better at treating others better then my family haha
7:07 "That's fun!" I know Lyle, I know.
You should consider adding anti roll backs on the lift. I know that has nothing to do with this video but I think it would make your coaster cooler and safer!

Hi Jayke Menges, Great Suggestion! We are absolutely going to do that. As a matter of fact, that's going to be the topic of the next several videos! Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for awesome anti-rollback technology! Best, Will

Will Pemble Dude that's awesome! I would put a rubber pad on the bottom of the anti roll back dog so it doesn't get too loud and it can prevent damage to the ride!
Will you ever go on tour and bring coasters to NYC and other places
He couldn't have made the cart without that cup with a beverage in it. It was the key component
I want one!! That looks so fun! To bad my HOA would yell at us. :(

cool :D
At 4:55 what are the disks you put on the rear crossbar to react the overturning roll moment? I need to figure out a new design for my own and was wondering what those parts were.
How do you not get in trouble from your city or does it not have front yard ordinances
What's the measurements on the wheel assembly
Where you buy the wheels and what side used?
What chair and harness did you use?
Where did you get the new track
where do you get the chair thing from?
How many coasters do you have
How many coasters do u currently have
Is there anywhere you can order the track from?
8:52 he's disappointed
How heavy is the cart?
NEXT TIME, MAKE THE ROLLERCOASTER LONGER AND HIGHER AND IF YOU'RE LUCKY ENOUGH, THEN MAKE IT AUTOMATIC, AND I FORGOT TO SAY IS TRY TO MAKE LOOPS
4:28 what is this "beverage"
You remind me of tom cavenaugh
You don't have a high enough incline, so when is the motor going to be put into practice?! A simple high power dc motor with a 12 volt 6000 mah lipo, maybe 300 bucks when done.
