Front Catalytic Convertor Replacement on 2011 Honda Pilot

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I discuss sequencing the removal of your catalytic converter at the front of the 3.5 L Honda V6. While I do this on a 2011 Honda pilot it is also transferable to other years of the Pilot and the Ridgeline. I do not show a lot of details on the removal of the catalytic converter, but review the most frustrating points of successfully getting out your catalytic converter. Thank you to Michelle for being my videographer.
This channel is for entertainment purposes only. I am not an expert and am not making recommendations. I share what works for me, so please do your research to determine what works best for you.

    I suppose as much as the newer vehicles are packed in under the hood “sequencing” removal is becoming pretty critical. Good thoughts!

    All I ever do is google an image of “firing order” if I’m unsure. Bank 1 is always the bank cylinder 1 is on. Also it’s going to take a while for the light to come back on, there’s a lot of parameters that need to be met to run the monitors for catalyst.

  • @ericscamping

    @ericscamping

    4 ай бұрын

    Haha. Yes the light went off. If you’re looking at this issue and trying to solve it, I think I would just simply start with your oxygen sensors. If you’re getting a reading on one of the banks, change the oxygen sensor to that bank. This is how Honda approaches the issue. My opinion would be just change the oxygen sensor and see what happens.

    Make sure you check O2 sensor function before you do this. General code readers are less reliable. I dont want to steer you wrong: I would go to rock auto and look through there products and each part number by brand… no one single part number unless you are doing Honda OEM.

  • @lambition

    @lambition

    8 ай бұрын

    @@ericscamping It is not code reader that is less reliable. Code reader only reads code from ECM. Higher end scanner can read O2 sensor voltage and by graphing it you can tell if CAT is bad or not. It should have flat or almost flat line. If voltage is going up and down, that means CAT is not working. ECM commands engine to keep switching between lean and rich during idle and this is what causes O2 sensor voltage to go up and down. If CAT is working, this gets smooth out from lack of oxygen.
