To address some of your issues - For the dock, the dots under each application are to indicate which apps are open/active. In some apps, hitting the red x to close it, is comparable to just swiping up to close an app on an iphone. Some apps will stay open and work in the background. I like to be in the habit of fully closing apps I'm not using, and so right click the app in the dock, and select "quit" (from any window). You can also cmd+Q to fully close the application you are currently on - doing either of these is the equivalent of 'swiping up' on an iphone to completely close an app. If you have multiple windows open of the same app, you can right click that app in the dock to see/click on the individual windows. Though I just 4 finger swipe up to see all my windows that are open and click on the one I want (alternatively you can press f3) My workflow for the dock is to keep only daily use apps down there as shortcuts, and enable the setting to automatically hide and show the dock so it's out of the way. Some magnification is nice too. All found in the dock settings. I usually use the extra 'desktops' exclusively to maximize applications, so except for my first one (which is used as a normal desktop), each virtual desktop is a single full screen application that I can easily swipe between. That way I only have one (my first) that I am truly using as a multi-window desktop, and only have the dock in that one. Not being able to see transfer speeds is something I'm used too as I've really only ever used mac, but is definitely a valid complaint. It seems like such an easy thing to include, yet they don't. I am currently exploring third party solutions as I just upgraded my macbook. I found it funny when you were talking about selecting files in the icon view in finder using shift, because it is just one of those nuances with mac. I mainly use list view in Finder, I always have. However, in your situation, on icon view, I just click and drag to select the biggest chunk of files that I can, then use shift or command to select the last few on top or bottom when needed. As you've seen there are definitely some nuances to mac that are less than ideal, but you will also come to learn all the little actions and nuances that make it a very enjoyable, clean, and productive os. Glad you chose to stick with it

As a longtime Windows user, surely you know that for *half* the price of Mac Studio, you can get a much more powerful Windows PC? Especially graphics is better on Windows: AMD or NVidia graphics chips. And of course, the Windows software ecosystem is huge, compared to what is available on Mac with Apple Silicon.

I was on windows from 3.1 up to windows 10. Then I discovered on a friend’s MacBook Air the touch pad and wow it’s a game changer. I’m not able to use a windows laptop without a mouse. On my MacBook, no need of a mouse. Also the keyboard layout is perfect. You have the accent where they have to be. On windows, good luck to write in French on a QWERTY keyboard. I will not go back to windows until.

I agree. I also have used Windows since 3.1, but I hated the direction that Microsoft was taking my beloved Windows, so I explored Linux and then Mac. Totally all-in on the Mac/iOS ecosystem now. I've always used a mouse with all my Windows laptops including my Surface Pro and assumed I'd do the same thing with my new MacBook Air, but after three months with it, I have never felt the desire to use one. The trackpad really is that good.

an important rule of thumb when it comes to using a Mac is that they are a different animal to windows, it takes time to get a rythem down for using the system and finding out the interesting little quirks but if you get confused the best thing you can do is go into the settings and have a little look around and don't be afraid to change things its hard to break a Mac by just using it. 1 your issue with the dock control click on an icon ( or go into settings and you can enable right click) doing this you can see each instance of an app or window you have 2 there is a way to make the programs you minimise drop to the right of the dock in their own slot similar Into windows I personally don't like this but its a preference thing. once you get your head around the system you will fall in love with it although from what you said in the video I think you are at that point now

When you press command+tab to switch between apps, those closed apps will still show up in the command+tab page! There's no page in that app already and why it still show up! I still don't get it why Apple won't just close the app when I press "X". It is so unnecessary.

8:08 Apple has for a while now refused to implement Multi-Stream Transport over Displayport, which is what most of the cheaper non-displaylink hubs use for connecting multiple monitors. If you were able to ask someone making that decision at Apple, my guess is they would tell you that MST divides up the bandwidth of the connection per connected monitor, which will affect the breadth of color that you can push through to your displays. Apple being Apple, they would rather force you to use a more expensive non-standard solution with no drawbacks than let you use a cheaper and more widely available standard that presents niche problems.

Malone time Mac user, and sometimes watch these videos to see what issues people transitioning to macOS have. I enjoyed your video but, you gotta do something about that plant in the foreground. It was moving all through the video and was a little distracting

um, you barely learned anything about MacOS in 3 months... Like Finder right clicking the icon on the dock brings up the menu with all the open finder windows. The little dots under icons on the dock mean the program is still running, clicking the red circle only closes the current window. CMD+Q or right clicking the dock icon and selecting quit is how to closes programs on Mac... I knew all this 3 days after getting my macbook pro (the last 16" Intel base model), After using windows for soon long. I still don't know everything, but you should know way more then this, after 3 months.

Look, a lot of these complaints really feel silly. Why does it matter if you can see the speeds? All that matters is how long the transfer takes. Who has time to sit there and unironically think “omg I’m only transferring at 5Gb/s”. You start the transfer, move onto something else and when it says you’re done, you pick up where you left off. I do the same thing on windows. The transfer speed number itself is absolutely useless. Just tell me how long the transfer will take
