Want to move to the Netherlands? This might be one of the most affordable visa options for Americans.

This is super interesting, always loved NL but would’ve never thought it can be that simple.

Would my DAFT visa include my dependent? Does it have a minimum in-country requirement?

As a DAFT visa holder you can bring your partner and minor children to the Netherlands. They are able to obtain a family member residence permit at the IND. I have not seen any minimum stay requirements posted by the govt or third party firms.

There are restrictions that I saw on an official Netherlands site (sorry, I could not find off the top of my head the exact web address). To the best of my memory, it was something like no more than six consecutive months in one calendar year or no more than four consecutive months in three consecutive years (for example, 4 months in 2021, 4 months in 2022, and 4 months in 2023). I remember thinking that if you were truly trying to live in the Netherlands, it would not be hard to meet the requirements. If you were there with a business that required you to make business trips, as long as you were coming back to the Netherlands in a reasonable amount of time it would not be an issue.

Well done. 👍 I didn't know about this option. We've been looking at the option Germany has opened up. It used to be children born outside Germany to a German mother and foreign father, didn't have rights to German citizenship. My case. Now I can apply for German citizenship and our daughter as well. Very helpful since she wants to go to University, in Germany. The dilemma is I prefer not to be subject to the higher German taxes. Even on my military pension that is not taxed here in the States. Trying to come up with a pros / cons list to get the German citizenship. Would this make a good video for you? 🤔 1 point might be to move to a lower taxed E.U. country like Italy's small town 7% tax rate. We still believe becoming slow travelers the best option. But will it be in 5 years ten year etc? Can I have my schnitzel and eat it too?😊

Great idea, and I will research and make a video for moving to Germany. A friend from San Fran, whose parents were German, received her citizenship, then her and her husband moved to Portugal to take advantage of the NHR. Now, they are half way through the NHR and are not sure where their next move will be once it expires. I will work to come up with pros and cons for moving to Germany.
