@@jacquelinearcher1158 Such an overt generalization and insult. Families die, fortunes change. Even after the French Revolution and 2 horrific world wars, the Louvre, Notre Dame, Versailles, numerous Chateaus still stand; and, "...there are enough historical sites, monuments and architectural wonders in France to warrant return trip upon return trip. In fact, there are so many historical must-sees that it’s often difficult to know where to begin."

My home had 55 windows which I never considered - unless one broke - until I had it painted along with eaves and I paid a fortune to remove storms, screens and had them painted. Actually had some windows without corresponding rooms. We unearthed a small riom behind a wall which had 2 old Crystal stick lamps and a handmade pale pink silk and lace bedspread with a matching handmade lace cover. It was as if an early owner was hiding them. I also found 2 complete services of Limoges. One old Haviland and the other Pouyat. They were crated and found only after I saw a leak coming out of an unused coal room decades after moving in. That room creeped me out. Mine was a fraction of the size of this wonderful home. I miss it but not the upkeep which was exponentially more every 5 years. Crazy expensive. It’s nice that a family with children moved in to this special family home. Thanks for the tour.

to be fair that is basically the historical southern netherlands in general, being ruled by differen empires wil do that to you, you wil find that the dutch are completely different, more direct and less humble (that isn't a bad thing, our vice is that we wil most likely discuss you when you are gone, we wil hold our tongue about things we dislike about you or mention them in an indirect way, a woman that was asked 'would you like to see flanders and the netherlands unite" answered no and when asked why she sighed and said, "I think we just are not as modern" in more direct words she fears that the Netherlands would force change onto us. It is positive and negative because we wil also defere our judgement of a person or situation until it has had a chance to really show who or what it is, the Dutch wil immediatly pass judgement on the spot, they may change that oppinion but you know anyway this is a country where multi miljonairs are often found hanging out with middle class people (though that does not really extend to so called marginals as much, it is mainly about behaviour and interests though)

the window shades still work-the locking pawl (with the string attached), needs to be pulled pack as you crank, thus allowing the shade to lower-basically the same principal as the old wind-up phonograph mainsprings....push the crank towards the window (counterclockwise-which I think raises the shade), hold the locking pawl back, away from the retention gear ( by the attached cord), and it should lower......to raise them, just crank counterclockwise-no need to hold the locking pawl back....

I adore the idea of each set of guests having their own breakfast area in case they are grumpy in the morning, that would suit me perfectly!😂Kind regards from Georgina (Derbyshire England)

My Mother had this sowing machine... as a little boy, I was fascinated by the little steel bobbins for holding the thread and the pedal. I must have nipped my fingers countless times on the leather belt

Armoury is so charming. His home is extraordinary. For some reason he reminds me of Phillip especially when he said with a little smile, "so you are attracted to gold?" Lol. Thank you for sharing.

This is an amazing property! Love the fact that there is a sense of a family continuity (with the family portraits and heirlooms), is effortlessly done cause it belongs to a member of the same noble family who built the place. A lot of new chateau owners lack this element, some of them try to create a more aristocratic ambiance and not a boutique hotel deco but still you can sense that the real thing of ancestral heritage is missing. It is a lovely and well preserved chateau. Thanks for sharing, greetings from Athens Greece ❣️
