From the Field -- E-flite Ultimate 3d 950mm Biplane Flight Review & Crash...DOH! (The RC Geek)
Ойын-сауық
Here is my review of the E-flite Ultimate 3d 950mm Biplane (bit.ly/EflUltimate). This is a fantastic looking and flying bipe that'll handle any kind of aerobatics you can think of. It's extremely nimble and crisp on the controls and really is a great deal of fun. I can imagine that this would be a really fantastic 3d machine as you can get some pretty insane rates with it and it is very responsive as a whole. I flew the airplane on 4s 2200 as well as 4s 3200 and they both flew similarly with the 3200 providing a bit longer flight times. The model also features full Smart technology/telemetry as well as throttle reverse which is especially fun. In the vid, I flew the airplane for a flight and then handed the sticks to a friend of mine who can do a little more 3d with it than I. Well, he came out a little low from a knife edge spin and it ended up in the bushes...DOH! As they say, there are two types of model airplanes, those that have crashed and those that will crash... ;) All in good fun as he was having a blast with it! #RCCrash #UltimateBiplane #TheRCGeek

Great flying guys, your 3D skills were super Chris, and yes...I know you can fix it lol, thanks for sharing guys 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👍🏼👍🏼🔥
Chris....Very nice biplane from Horizon. Love to see them adding reverse to these models. Glad the crash damage was minimal...Most us don’t get that lucky. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍

wish they had not put throttle reverse in it as somehow in an early flight I turned it on but had no idea how I did it or that I had done it. Fortunately only a hard landing resulting in a bent landing gear( since bent back) and some hanger rash. The plane has a wide envelop. Even on low rates its roll rate is quick to quick so better use lots of expo. Wonderful plane.
Poor jarred :( cool lookin bird. Great vid guys
Haha 🤦🏻♂️ good on you for showing it lol 😂 can’t wait for mine to ship preordered it the day it came out can’t wait

Happens to the best of us!!!👍
Knowing your talent I read the title and thought YES!!!! Chris finally crashed one (which make me feel not so bad when I do) and then I found out watching it was actually the other guy that crashed it....bummer......LOL. Just kidding....great flying as always Chris and that really does look like a fun plane. A little glue.....a little JB Weld.....some tape it'll be as good as new. That's something I do have experience at....LOL

Haha, I’ve crashed plenty! Just not many on camera. 🤣. My most spectacular one was a big panther at an air show. That one hurt. I see a repair and repaint video in our future... 🤪
Snap rolls are really authentic. It snapped right in the middle! I would contribute this to faulty altimeter.

Good quote. Once I mastered the skillful art of crashing... Or making my plane look like a pig looking for truffles.... Nose deep. Then it dawned on me to KEEP IT IN THE AIR..... and if your going to crash make it look spectacular LOADS OF BITS FLYING IN ALL DIRECTIONS.... STAY WELL Brian London

haha, I love it!
With option of 2 elevator spars, an reversing esc, basically this is a Timber X with another wing. LOL. A joke, but I like where E-Flite is going with a lot of their craft lately...giving options for different battery packs an thinking about how it affects the CG. Smart thinking. I initially thought a reversing esc was a gimick, but after many flights with my Night Timber X, I can appreciate it more now when I'm RIGHT at the edge of the runway an not able to swing the tail around.

ut oh time for some super steve crash proofing
If you weren't supposed to crash, they wouldn't have all those spare parts. Great video.

Very nice looking parcflyer with 3d capabilities, your videos are fun! Bravo! One question: Did you ever try to activate reverse function on edf model by landing as brakes?😄😄😄
@Thercgeek
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have seen some guys use throttle reverse on edfs, but I’ve not tried it myself. It’s not super effect. Certainly not like with a propeller.
Watch it with closed captions on... when it hears the motor running it thinks it’s applause.... quite apt really 👌😁

Is it possible to reverse Throttle midflight or do you have to stand still. Thanks for Answer
@Thercgeek

You can reverse throttle in flight should you chose to.

did you latterel balance to ?
@Thercgeek
4 жыл бұрын
No need on this one. Honestly, I rarely lateral balance an airplane.
I noticed on take off that both of you gunned it. Is that to avoid ground loops or pulling to one side on take off?
@Thercgeek
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it does keep it from ground looping. Ground handling on the airplane isn’t all that great otherwise.

@@Thercgeek Thanks, just got back from the field and my flying buddy (no not me!) landed in a tree 50 feet up on his maiden take off. We tried for hours with no success to get it down. The tail is stuck on one end and looks like a branch has one wing and maybe a landing gear.
@Thercgeek
3 жыл бұрын
Oh man, that’s a bummer! Hopefully you guys will be able to get it down.

Thanks Chris. I am using a bow and arrow with fishing line from my fishing reel attached to the back of the arrow. We have gotten a line across close branches a few times - pulled up a strong parachute chord and been able to shake the plane pretty good but it hangs on. The tail is really in tight - I ask my buddy if he accidentally flipped the back up switch and jammed the tail tight between the branches after he landed it in the tree lol ! We may have to get ruff with it and damage it just to get the electronics back and rebuild the plane.

It's not a matter of IF your going to crash, it's a matter of WHEN! It's a fun bipe , I like it for scale aerobatics and as a turn and burn model.
2200mh battery plenty they are pretty tfings made in Canada real scale have a quik roll rate tor racing and snap to but dont recomend many times remember snap it going up first dont do it to many times once bely landed dint locktite gear but found it 2 weeks later haha
I was hoping to see rolling harriers. The Eflight video roller was not axial but that just might be the pilot's preference or skill level. There a link to rolling harriers somewhere?

Unfortunately, I’m not sure. Most 3d maneuvers like that are way out of my wheel house. I’m a scale guy through and through. 😉

I am a 3D Guy and this plan is different, I would not hover it with out being 2 mistakes high It not good to recover in not sure why

True story!
I have a question for you. I trust your judgment and experience. I have an opportunity to buy a Carl Goldlberg 10-300 kit N.I.B for $325. I recently retired so I have the time and the building experience to do this. VS buying the Eflight Ultimate. I'm old school and have always thought balsa flys better. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance, Kurt
@Thercgeek
2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good find and the price sounds reasonable. Flying this eflite ultimate got me interested in getting a Goldberg ultimate kit, but I never did. Personally I think the bigger balsa airframe will be more rewarding and probably fly better depending on what you’re wanting to do with it (I.e. 3d vs not).
Well look at the bright side you got the crash on film. most of us we crash and nobody ever gets to see it. Not bad 137.50 per flight

At my club... if you don't break the prop its not a crash......did it land in those bushes cuz it looked like minimal damage?

Yeah, impaled itself into the brush. It’s a pretty clean break, so will be doing a repair video when I get to fixing it.
OH NO 😢😢😢
😂😂😂 So just remind me, who is the better pilot? Don’t put yourself down by calling yourself mediocre. At least you bought that plane home in one piece.

Haha, right?! 🤣🤣
I'm pretty sure what really happened was the little guy inside the plane had his head snapped off his spine during the 3D extremes and it was rolling around in the cockpit, then it rolled down and jammed the rudder controls and all the blood also short circuited some of the wiring. Yeah...that's what happened.😉🤕
